Hey guys,

I'm trying to fish up Hakuryu but I am not hitting at all on it. I haven't seen one in 100+ casts. I have Ebisu/4x +1 fishing gear/noddy ring, but no Puffin Ring. Is Puffin Ring that good that I absolutely need it? Am I missing something else all together here? Or am I just extremely unlucky today?

Yeah sorry forgot to put that in there. I'm using minnows. Skill is only 97 too, guess I'll throw that in there as well.

Its not even line breaks. Haven't even seen a Hakuryu pop up at all, all I saw was a bunch of items and non-legendary fish.

Try switching it up to a sinking minnow, sometimes depending on day/moon etc switching up the bait helps when the fish aren't biting well.

I'm right next to a couple of guys who have been pulling them in all day. I'll try the sinking minnow just to see if I can pull one up.

I was pulling them in at 91 all day :< just really bad luck it sounds like, the items make a difference but you'll still see them without

Fishing is very profitable if you have either a great amount of time on your hands or a good bot. Unfortunately, I have neither.

It comes in drastic waves. I'd guess moon setting, but I don't want to be crucified.

There is 2 spots on the cliff which you cant pull in haks as they wont bite. They are at the complete end by wall to the south and the north at the opposite side.

I'll second that they come in waves (pun intended?). Some days I can catch 20-30 in an hour and other days I swear it's like 50+ casts and nothing. Some days I'll go through 1 lure per 1-2 fish, and other days I can go 10+ fish with a single lure.

If you are in this for gil, you are better off just farming cruor and turning in choco blinkers :-\ Once I hit 110 fishing I'm putting my ebisu back on my mannequin.
