[Dev] RDM: Rejecting Ideas and Empty Promises

As we are approaching max capacity for adding magic we are in a situation where it is difficult to add new spells on a short-term basis, and this is not only limited to red mage. To clarify, this doesn’t mean we cannot add new magic, it just means we first need to address the expansion of the magic spell capacity, so this will take a bit of time.
Next, in regards to some of the suggestions and requests we have been seeing.
Plague effect enfeebling magic spell:
Since there are already abilities that add a plague effect, we don’t really feel a necessity to add it to red mage’s arsenal. Also, since DoT-related magic spells are scholars forte, this wouldn't be something that is unique to red mage.
Stronger version of Dia/Bio:
Red mages already have Dia 3 and Bio 3 from merit points which are considerably powerful version of these spells.
As mentioned previously, the Development Team is looking into adding new spells that will be quite different from the current list available. | |

When did DoT related spells become Scholars forte? The Eight Helix(Helices? Hell if I know) and Kaustra mean they are suddenly the DoT specialists I guess. Also DoT specialist was a thing? Plague would be Enfeebling anyways, and it's not like Sch has a ton(3?) of those spells native to it.
May have been better if the answers were just NO. in increasing text size.

RDM is only good for chainspell stun these days. Sad, but incredibly useful in situations that demand it.

RDM still has its uses.
- Chainspell stun Arch Dynamis Lord.
- Refresh II.
- ... Nope, that's all I got. Scratch that then. RDM is useless.
Not hating on RDM; my favorite mage job out there. :/

As a sch myself, no we're not the best healer (cureskin is still pretty damn dope), situational scenarios we are a great nuker, but not the best. DoT has always been sch's thing. SE said it themselves when the job was made that it would have sacrifices to output (as in per nuke or per heal) in order to be masters of DoT and HoT. Stop crying? Idk what to tell you.... Also, sch is damn near "stfu and Embrava" only anyways.

Oh you misunderstand. Idc that that's all sch has become. Yeah it sucks, but I'm not gonna ungear the job or anything because of it. Yes I would like to use sch more in nuking situations because it's fun, but it is what it is. I play many other jobs to have fun still, so idc either way.

I have one good spell idea for RDM. How about giving RDM the Spell DEMI, which would reduce a targets base HP for a short duration like say 1 mins or so, maybe a little longer and have it base on Enfeebling Magic. That would be a good spell to give RDM and maybe finally give the RDM a spell based on Divine magic. RDM used to have the Flash spell when the game started but was removed from the list. Maybe they sould give RDM it's own special divine magic spell since RDM does have a skill in Divine magic.

Better enhancing magic thats actually BENEFICIAL (and somewhat game changing) to the party, and enfeebling that actually matters worth 2 shits on whatever mob your party is fighting. Is that too much to ask? :| seeing this makes me sad

You only chainspell stun ADL if you're Smn's are mere mules and you suck at duo-boxing. Else, Ramuh's stun is 100* more effective than chainspell
