so i decided id do some prep for "2.0"

needless to say. i'm lost. iv played FFXI since 2006, still plan to play. cant wait to seekers comes out!

but i figured id do what i can with this. and give 2.0 a shot
however im a bit lost. i kinda know how the game works. i have no clue where most of the stuff is. guilds, low level NPC gear, AH, and "moghosue equivalent" if there is one. also wouldn't mind a linkshell if anyone in Balmung is willing.

if anyone knows of any good beginner tutorials or whatnot i would love to see it

There's a few different guilds for the classes in each city, I would say it doesn't really matter where you start off at as before the quests for the classes begin, you will probably have visited them all.

I was told not to really invest too much in gear until like level 30ish because you get a lot of the stuff you buy from the market wards from quests that are really easy. But if you want to try out the classes, when you open up your map at the adventure guild, there's a npc that will sell low level weapons and tools to try them all out.

Umm, there is no "Auction House" as of yet. Basically in each city there's these npcs called retainers, and they hold all of the stuff you want to kind of make sure it will sell since more people will probably see it. If you go to certain points in the cities, you will zone into the markets. Where there's "rows" that kind of supposed to be where you sell a certain type of item and can buy. Think of it like a huge indoor flea market. It kind of works for now but it has plenty of flaws. Ask in game for further info as you will get plenty of "wtfs" and "lols".

The moghouse equal is an Inn, on a map in the cities there's a bed icon and if you go to talk to the npc, you can set it as a return point. The only real thing you can do in it is rest when you log out, view past cut scene and store AF gear I think, I haven't gotten any yet but iirc that's what it tells you.

I can get or ask for someone to give you a pearl tomorrow when I'm on. The only real thing I'm not liking about the game and it may just be Balmung, but the community isn't very helpful at all save for a few people. I'll help you out to the best of my ability, almost got my first level 50. And there's a few other helpful people I know of. Just hit me up tomorrow around 5pm PST. Remind me who you are cause I have a terrible memory.

Low level gear (lv 1-20 stuff) you gan buy from the shops marked with stars on your map, for level 10+ gear you might want to check the item search in the Ul'dah mercantile house since they can sometimes be cheaper then the npc. You can get to it from the same place you go into the wards or Grand company HQ which is marked on your map. The only thing the guilds do now is give you quests at lv 20, 30 and 36 so they don't really mean anything, the level 20 quest rewards you with a lv 20-25 weapon/tool though so its good to do that one as soon as you can for a free upgrade.
