Why? I mean really, when i'm drunk late at night, i either try and sleep with my fiance or if she is asleep attempt a drunken wank that results in my falling asleep.
Coming online to attack and kill small monsters or wait for 45 min in a party for a whm to turn up isnt really high on my drunken to do list.
Do these people just have no real social lives or are they just pretending?

maybe they are 13 years old, hiding a can of beer from the fam, and showing off to FFXI? lol thats my guess.
OR majority of them are 13-15 and just use the "Oh btw, i'm drunk" excuse when they screw up like wiping party of something.
That, or either they try and be "cool" and say they get drunk all the time. But last time I checked, when I was 16, the only reason anyone that age drank was to be "cool", which really doesn't work unless you're with a bunch of people, and NOT at home sitting at your computer until 4 in the morning. meh 2 cents o.O

idk but i do drink sometimes when i play i dont tel but it dont mather if your drunk or not just dont let other ppl lose becuase your drunk :)
i'm just gonna pull a figure out of the air... probably 50% of people who say they're drunk while playing ffxi, are not.
well back 5 years ago when i was a drunk, i didnt get drunk and start playing. I'd get drunk while playing. After 10 hours of playing/drinking, I'd start to chat alot and not pay attention to what im doing. But, I never did straight out say "I'm Drunk", I don't think I did anyways. It always was, "Cubby, are you drunk again?" and I answered yes!!!
Anyways a little off topic, FFXI helped me stop drinking so much and quit going to the bar and spending my whole paycheck gambling/drinking. FFXI SAVED MY LIFE!!! >.>

I half the time dont think people are drunk, they just announce it so people can pat them on the back or something and make them feel cool. Its like when my sister moved out, when she'd call or visit her conversations usually started or ended with her telling us how plastered she could get, randomly, out of nowhere. I was left like "is...is...this some sort of display of adultness? Im not seeing the intelligence of this announcement" Generally speaking drunk people tend to think everyone is as clueless as them so obvious statements are a must... now if we all played with webcams up you could get some awesome pics on the ones that are really drunk. Drunk people do some of the funniest ***... stuff that is usually blackmail worthy later on. Just remember it's generally no fun being the one sober guy surronded by drunk people so if you can't beat them join them

Aren't you more honest while being drunk? Like they say, a little kid and a drunk person will never tell a lie. (something like that)
There's nothing wrong with having some drinks while gaming, but it's pretty disrespectful to get in a drunken state when there are people depending on you to do your job in a situation.
If you want to get drunk and game, play Halo.

I think its more people drink while playing. Not start playing while drunk. Really what does it matter anyway? If you don't want to party with them then don't, at least they warned you. I personally like to come home after work, have a few drinks and relax playing ffxi. Nothing wrong with that.
