Leviathan.Kincard said: »Thanks Sylow. It makes some of the stats make a whole lot more sense- given the high drop rate on the level 45 pieces, the alt. set are very obtainable pieces for casual players in a pretty short amount of time.
The amount required for the +1s makes me scratch my head though. 250 plans to finish one set? That's like, half a year of running neo salvage and only letting one guy lot every paper of one type. That's not including all the runs you'd need to build up the base piece if you don't already have it.
Considering that, I really think the +1s should've been a bit better.
Wait a second. Is nobody realizing that SE probably made this event to where you clear it with a full party or more? (wasn't regular salvage up to 18 man?) I think we're too focused/obsessed on low-manning new content as it comes out that people aren't killing enough ***. Perhaps the papers aren't THAT hard to get, but people just aren't clearing enough mobs because they want to low-man the new event.

None of the jobs I play all that often really got much out of the new salvage thing, but I'll probably give it a shot for friends at least. None of the pieces I had completed really gained much out of their +1 either(Usu shoes if I like, gave a damn about Sam maybe. No point in playing that without a WS).
Those whining about the people whining are really far worse than those that were originally whining. If other people's complaints are all you have to talk about, you're probably not all that interested in the event or gear to begin with.
No ones stopping you from ignoring complaints and saying "oh god piece x is the bees knees!" but yourself.
One good part of all this is that, if I actually upgrade, I can wear Skadi feet on my Dnc now and can just throw Tandava in the nearest fire.
Maybe because I don't do Voidwatch often or have the time to do other events? I'm not here to *** or anything but everyone appears to be butthurt about it not being epic or anything.
I'm happy like you just to be able to upgrade old equipment and to be able to do salvage with old and maybe newer players. I've been sitting on some of the Morrigans set for a while now aching to complete it.
In case this hasn't been put into one place yet:
New Head: LV45 Head + 10 Plans + 15 Mythril
New Body: LV45 Body + 12 Plans + 15 Mythril
New Hands: LV45 Hands + 12 Plans + 15 Mythril
New Legs: LV45 Legs + 12 Plans + 15 Mythril
New Feet: LV45 Feet + 10 Plans + 15 Mythril
Old+1 Head: LV45 Head + 40 Plans + 15 Gold Pieces
Old+1 Body: LV45 Body + 50 Plans + 15 Gold Pieces
Old+1 Hands: LV45 Hands + 45 Plans + 15 Gold Pieces
Old +1 Legs: LV45 Hands + 45 Plans + 15 Gold Pieces
Old +1 Feet: : LV45 Feet + 40 Plans + 15 Gold Pieces
From what I've seen from the Mithran NPC, there appears to be 3 different kinds of plans. I'm not sure if they're all the same but there appears to be a red, blue and green one. Any idea if they're all used for the same upgrades?

Can speak for all paper droprates but we got 3 for morri / marduk and we missed another NM that dropped morri so for morri anyway 5 papers per run are possible. So that would be 48 days~ assuming you got 5 per day.

Bloodshed Plans ---> Ares / Ate's
Tutelary Plans ---> Marduk / Nabu's
Ritualistic Plans ---> Usukane / Omodoka
Primacy plans ---> Morrigan / Fea's

The random nature of gear unlocks actually punishes you for having too many people.

But was that a full clear or did you time out? Did you miss ONLY one NM? I think it's a little early to say you only missed 1 NM that drops morri papers since the event is brand new, the info can't possibly be out yet on every NM that drops every paper, no?

I'm sure there are ways to plow through more mobs though ya? I don't think you can get "duplicate" unlocks for the same player, can you? That would be kind of *** backwards :(

My mistake for stating incorrectly.
We did clear SSR, the only NM I know for sure we missed was one on the first floor hammerblow route(It was reported by someone on BG) We went Dekka > G3 > Turtle > boss
On the first floor when we reached the end the door to the other side was locked so Im assuming you are still locked to routes when you have a choice like the old salvage.

They did say route selection was going to be a strategy element of NeoSalvage.

How many people/what kind of setups is everyone running with? I did one SSR2 run so far (THF, WAR, BRD, slaveWHM) and it was...subpar, because the BRD was crippled the whole time (no ranged unlocked).
It's always fun to figure out new stuff though.

We went with DNC MNK (WHM THF) <-- mules
We only killed the NQ boss, didn't have time to mess around on the floor before it because we wasted too much time killing those stupid fish.

Not every job gets benefit from every event, it's been like that for years.

Usually that is because they're limited by the number of pieces they add, but the few pieces they do add generally are pretty good for some function (See: Legion, Burrows). Neo salvage added 50 new pieces of gear and I'm pretty sure we have less than 10 that are actually good.

Original salvage had something worthwhile for every single job, sans DNC and SCH. Was expected that the same could be said of this one as well. Instead we've got double the gear and an eighth~a quarter of the usefulness. That's the major issue; they've basically failed entirely to make neo Salvage as relevant as it really should have been.

If you have more players, you're splitting the papers more ways. Works out about the same in the end, minus the reduced unlock efficiency meaning less total loot per person.

OK, I have a pretty broad question for everybody that is like super pissed about this update. We can all agree that NNI was a "major" gear update yes? And for quite a few pieces we can argue the crazy hard hexed-1 (with or without augs), are pretty stellar yes? How many MAJOR gear upgrades can you expect once you hit the level cap before getting too overpowered?

A majority of jobs didn't even get those. Those that did, it's questionable whether the pieces are worth inventory space or effort to get.
Here, a graphical representation for the couple of jobs that actually got anything:

I'm not super pissed off with the update, but I am disappointed by the gear. People need to stop making the dumb extreme "hurr you just wanted a total paradigm shift in gear again" argument, because that's not what people were asking for at all.

We got 6 or 7 papers (morrigan) from doing SSR. We went the usual alex farming route from SSRI. We also got 1 marduk paper from the chariot NM before the teleport in the room where gyro gears used to be (it dropped 1 morrigan and 1 marduk.
THF BLU RDM - BLU pwns in here. Whirl of rage all the adds from the ramparts.

From a DNC perspective:
Skadi Bazubands+1 are our new best general purpose TP hands. Bonus Points: its competition can't be stored. Also slightly better than Myrmex for Exenterator.
Sigyn's Visor is probably our new best TP head for general builds, finally usurping Charis Tiara +2 after 14 levels.
Skadi's Curie +1 will compete with DNC AF3+2 body. It needs +10 DW to win, so we'll see what happens.
Skadi's Visor +1 and Sigyn's Jambeaux will likely take best in slot for Hybrid Evasion builds. These may be useful again because things in Neo-Salvage don't have pisspoor accuracy, but aren't so accurate that a hybrid build can't take care of it. Bonus points: head options can't be stored.
Skadi's Jambeaux +1 will allow us to finally toss our Tandava Crackows, giving us a defensive AND storable movement speed option.
That's 4 useful pieces (potentially 5) for just one job.
I'm sure there are more than 10 useful pieces. If you mean "useful for DRK, WAR, SAM, DRG, and MNK" (what people usually mean when they say useful), then I don't know, I haven't looked into other jobs yet.

SAM gets 2 pieces or so, quick cursory glance says WAR, DRK, and DRG get a couple each at best which could be of dubious quality.

Anyway, for a job that previously had no use for Salvage whatsoever, DNC will be makin use of a lot of its gear now.
