I'm not sure about the other pieces, but many of the marduk pieces are most definitely upgrades, albeit pretty minor ones. The cure pot head is amazing for those who a -mitra is out of reach, or they don't want to spend the gil on it.

http://wiki.bluegartr.com/bg/User_talk:Cairthenn

There's a couple cool grips/ammos on there.

Quote:
Oreiad's Tathlum 99 - MND+4 Magic Accuracy+1 WHM / BLM / RDM / BRD / SMN / SCH

Beats anything currently for a whm ammo.

Quote:
Erlene's Notebook 99 - "Magic Attack Bonus"+3 Enmity-2 All / JOB21 / JOB22

Anyone have any sort of idea where these would come from?
They said you'll get worms from doing objectives in meebles that you trade for random gear. That would be my guess.

Also morrigan shoes+1... omg. Just the *** for nuking. Looks like a complete upgrade from Nares as well, and by quite a decent margin.

He probably he means they're going to try to explain why they did what they did after people start bitching like they always do.

Ya, the shoes are pretty sexy. I'll need to math if they beat savant's +2 after tonight's finals. Hoping that someone gets on test server and find out about refresh values so I can figure out what I need for sch.

while this is actually a really good response to this, the problem I'm having here is that, this is salvage 2.0. not another endgame event.

this is an event that should have been expanded upon enough to where it would be challenging/engaging/and fun enough to warrent some really good level 99 gear to replace a chunk of our current gear.

what we got was not good at all, and you should not fool yourself otherwise.

and i guess you guys are right, maybe i did have too much hope for this game. but what can you expect after spending so many years on it? :/

In the end, this update gave at least half the jobs in the game a few new toys to strive for, many of which are minor UPGRADES (as opposed to sidegrades which I always define as rearranging builds with different pieces to achieve the SAME performance). If you expected all new gearsets, again I'd imagine they don't want to steal the thunder of an expansion coming in a year or less, especially since NNI only recently came out.

looking at it from a BRD perspective, but I was pretty impressed with the Marduk's attire :d

Marduk's Tiara +1(CHR+13/Singing Skill+12) beats Hyaline Hat for debuffing.
Marduk's Shalwar +1(CHR+15/Wind Instrument Skill+11) beats Aoidos' Rhingrave +2 for debuffing.
Marduk's Dastanas +1(Song Spellcasting Time -7%) beat Schellenband and Aneirin's Gloves for precast.

Marduk's Jubbah+1/Nabu's Crackows also might be some good precast pieces(considering all jobs that can use) depending on the value of Fast Cast given. Especially on BRD, activating the extra Fast Cast from the set bonus pairing Body/Hands+1 together.

Odin.Calipso said: »
Nabu's Crackows
Beats nares a little (for brd) as a debuff piece.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Nares still better? I'm a bit unsure of most targets' CHR values nowadays. CHR+8 M.Acc+7 VS CHR+10 Wind+3. On most things, Nares would have 11 Magic Accuracy, and Nabu's would have 8. If target has a higher CHR value than you, than assume 1 CHR = 1 M.Acc, so would be an even 13 VS 13.

You're actually right, that's my bad. I derped out and for whatever reason assumed one was wind and one was singing. So they're about equal, unless you cast debuffs with a harp.

Calipso, but does the mitra have regen potency on it? That's kind of a nice stat on the +1 tiara as well for whm, no?

Well if they don't beat Savant+2 (which I understand is hard to do), they are still great for blms, no?

edit- it's funny cause i usually don't complain about stuff this much. I think it's probably the big letdown SE just gave me, was totally waiting to come back to this game again and play with some friends.

but i probably won't now. some of you might ask "but ghal, wry not just play with friends and be happy teehee 8D"

because i was tired of afking in PJ half the day with nothing to do, i have all the NNI gear, and that was actually pretty fun and took some effort to get. i have the emps i want and the relic i wanted. and I'm not going to spend another 2-3 months dual/tri boxing more weapons.

all i wanted was a good solid event to keep me coming back for more, until the new expansion arrived. but sadly i guess i was hoping for too much :/

Im used to the "Bitchateverything" status effect SE seems to inflict on most of you...so i think i built up a resistance job trait over the 10 years of "whydafuqSE" everyone spouts. So have fun with that.

btw i actually wanted to respond to your earlier comment about matsui,

honestly i wasn't going to blame him, nor did i plan on it. but at the end of the day he is the director of this game.
Matsui has only been in control for a very short time period, and I don't think he could of contributed much influence on Salvage when Tanaka was under control for the large majority of the process.

I'm sure the most he could do for the project is make sure it got done, because at that point if he changed anything important it would put the team behind for months.

Yes, if anything is bad about Salvage the blame should go to Matsui, rightfully so, but I don't think he had much choice in the matter unless he wanted to extend development for another 3 months.

I'm not defending him, because I'm not sure if he's a good fit or yet not (no one should, not at least for 6 months when content he had control of comes out), but I just think we should be understanding at least.

I guess nobody saw the "portus collar-1" either? Accuracy+5 Attack+5 "Double Attack"+2%. Has -1 DA from portus but +3 acc and +5 att. A pretty good piece, all things considered.

No, but tbh I can't remember the last time I used regen. Unless that boosts Regen by a TON or increases the duration, I probably still wouldn't use regen.

If I had known about this I likely would have still spent the gil on a -mitra, it has less MND but the healing magic skill on it still puts it ahead, plus the augment on it saves a spot/makes you not care about Cleric's +2. Plus it's a green pope hat!

Personally I'm disappointed. I was really looking forward to Neo-Salvage, and while some gear is alright for certain builds and gear swaps, over all it is not worth the time and patience it will take to get the gear.

Is it because you do a lot of things under embrava? That is a heavy regen after all. As well as Sch having gen 5. Kind of sucks sch wasn't added to Marduk in addition to Morrigan :(.

I think SE has a certain idea about how powerful each job should be at it's maximum potential gear swapping out armor, and they won't cross this line (or very much) until the next "stage" of the game.

At the moment we are at the end of this stage, or nearing it. There aren't very many revamps left, nothing noteworthy really (just znm), so I didn't expect anything huge.

It won't be until the expansion where we start seeing the good upgrades again. From here on out we'll have ZNM updates, play as a monster, new SP's, new merits, then basically thats it til Adoulin.

I can't believe people are complaining about this new gear. Maybe you should try playing more than one job, i.e. something other than WAR or DRK. The amount of bandwagnaroks is disgusting.

Unless you don't have access to neo-tavnaz. And I hear neo-tav boss is still somewhat difficult even at 99 anyways.

Bangwagons! Not heard this in ages, I personally feel this update is good! Se wants to bring more strategy back to the game, they created an event that nerfs embrava for us to use our brains and bring back the old school talent, I believe Matsui said (paraphrasing) He wanted the old techniques back as all the had done was suit 1 play style, Well isn't this a good way for people to learn the other play style in prep for the new upcoming expansion while obtaining some gear to boost the jobs people never look at? (lolpup and Ranger-style COR) Personally I can see alot of upgrades for WHM, BRD, BLM, SCH and BLU and trying to say getting hexed -1 gear is better, granted some of it is amazing, so is the price tag, but not everyone can get those due to availability. Overall a good equaliser event, but nothing that is going to like Holy crap my epeen is this long!

Edit: Just a foot note, I had hoped for 1 amazing piece of gear within each catagory, but I hope the set bonuses make up for the lack of individual epic pieces.

I guess everybody also overlooked the new grips? mind with macc looks like the new best enfeeb grip, as well as the int+3 elemental skill+2 grip looks pretty solid. minor upgrade over wizzen, or the mab+1 m.acc+1 grip, but it's still new gear to choose from.

Spurrina Coif can be augmented with +2 refresh, so a +2 refresh body gives you 1 more than hekas combination.

I am of the opinion these pieces will be +2-able such is the current trend and the drama surrounding the launch patch is just verbal premature ejaculation.

Hold ye horses people, don't yet assume the worst.
