ust finished twashtar on thf. trying to figure out the best offhand for me with my current gear. i have 0 odyssey bosses complete so no gleti's.

The two top offhand weapons for twashter are gleri's knife and centovente. Of those two centovente is preferred and so long as you're capping accuracy with it will be the better option. You can stop at Fusetto +2 if you despise ToTM, since the tp bonus is the same from that stage on. It's worth it to do the trials and you'll want it anyway so I would highly recommend working on that when you can.

You'll need them both anyway (cento/fus+2) for when you're smashing straight up 3kTP Empyreal Arrows with your Ullr. ;)

is this a thing? it sounds cool af.

Yes, it was even used for KI1 Arebati

Don't take this advice seriously as a new thief. While Ullr is a thing thief CAN do, it's not something you probably ever will do. Certainly not when you're new at thief with no odyssey progress at all. It's a very niche utility on a job that already sees little use in the meta. Stick with your main priorities first, which should be improving your tp gear and rudra's sets. Then worry about off meta stuff like double tp daggers with ullr later, or just go level another job instead. That's probably a better use of your time tbh.

That's actually the biggest reason you would bring it out, and the only reason it was ever really discussed on the forms here, and that was years ago before V25 oddy fights. People used to bring thief for vengence 20 arebati clears with ullr, which is both viable and effective when geared for at that vengence level. You'll have an incredibly hard time convincing people to bring a thief for V25 arebati (where the ranged setup is pld, run, rng, cor, geo, brd), and outside that one specific fight the demand for thief with a bow is nonexistant. It's neat to be able to do but not at all high priority in the list of things you should be working on.

I don't think the idea was to try to replace anyone in that Arebati setup, but to make different setup to get Arebati to 75% on KI1 and then go with main setup on KI2. That gives COR and RNG more room for damage before they reach hate cap or makes it easier for RNG to full time Relic, because you need to do less damage. It's also easier to pull first add, because it pops right away without much hate on anyone.

For KI1 you can use for example NIN WHM and RDM, this should make it easy to tank it. Then THF DNC and DRG, but it might be better to use SMN instead of THF and use Angon, diaiii and box step to significantly lower def and make damage with just jumps giving no tp and polearm WS, DNC making TP with just reverse flourish and Climactic WS to damage and SMN using diabolos or siren to do damage)(BPs don't feed tp too) and Cait to reset TP. This would make the fight very safe, because it would probably reduce tp move usage to 0, with NIN not allowing to be hit too.

For what it's worth, when talking about Arebati KI#1, the lower you can push it the better, so bringing an optimized setup to both KIs will improve your chances of winning.

Keeping that in mind, I would never bring a THF to either ki. It's not to say it's impossible to do, but it would unnecessarily weaken the chances of success.

Our best KI1 was 39%, which i think we did twice...it makes KI#2 much easier, though we've still managed to *** it up even with a good headstart from the first KI.

The question comes from someone who said he has no Odyssey clears and doesn't even have access to gletis. He's never killed any Oddy bosses, not even on vengence one. He just finished his twashtar and needs an offhand weapon for it. He's clearly gearing up from scratch, so this discussion about higher vengence Arebati fights is not relevant to him. I provided my response in context of what was asked, and I stick by that response. One TP bonus offhand is all he needs. Magian trails are time consuming and quite frankly, frustrating and boring as hell. Spending time to build a second tp dagger and get an Ullr ranged setup is a waste of time for him. It's something to keep in mind for future possibilities, but if he brings thief to anything he'll be meleeing so he should work on making his dagger builds better right now.

To be fair, he ASKED about this when it was mentioned and we provided short answers, you was the one who pushed this all the way to it's viability in v25 Arebati. This can be used for Arebati V0 or V10 or just for fun.
