I just think it's funny when new ***comes out and it's usually a RDM or PLD bitching "Oh, my job should get that!"
I saw a BLU bitching, the other day that there are no new spells yet, they were so bold as to say "SE isn't looking at the big picture..." Like BLU is SE's main money maker or something.
Enmity issues (pre Adoulin) aside, I think PLD was in a fine spot. My point was that RUN just seems like half a class. It's a white magic warrior with shockingly little offensive ability. It seems a lot like ideas they probably toyed with for PLD and RDM over the years, hit the cutting room floor, swept up and called it Runefencer.
No I don't want pld to have barspells or stoneskin, I'm quite happy with my two shields and phalanx, but the Rune enhancement abilities (like Lux) does seem like a PLD idea that got scrapped.
RDM, I don't even play (though mine is 99 thanks to being bored at a worm party) but that class excels at nothing notable anymore.

I'd much rather get more points on blu so for when the new spells do come out and make useful combos I can set them or if they don't make any useful traits/aren't needed I can set them for additonal stat boosts for DD or situational spells and keep my dualwield/STP

Something I notice about Rune "Fencer" is that they in fact cannot equip rapier class weapons or ffxiah may not have updated with RUN on it? Yes that includes Sagasinger. Granted there is supposedly fencing with 2handed weapons I just thought this was a little ironic and funny
I think the aspect of RUN is to make other DD mitigate magical damage, ailments, etc. much better in higher end fights rather it be focused on RUN itself to tank or rather the latter could work best.

I personaly think that SE didn't finish RUN completely and by that i'm not talking about Merits.
Remember the whole pack of JA received by SAMs and some others jobs all of a sudden, i think one day we'll wake up after an update with a complete set of nice/usefull JAs.
All i can think of at the moment is, What is the modifier for thoses JA? somes ppl say MAB can increase Lunge, Also, We see a Mask with STR+18/MND+18 Haste +7%, it does make me wonder if Runes are affected by MND "alike Holy Bolts."
If it was me, i'd say that RUN is a versatile DD/tank very situational.

the mnd stat mod is very easy to test. infact you can do it in a matter of minutes

Also the mask in question.. yeah it's good to TP and Requi in, that's why it's probably got the str + mnd on it. And mnd modifies quite a bit of sword WS.

Everytime I come onto FFXIAH every thread is filled with a troll taking it completely off subject...
1. No one likes a I told you so, You won't have many Friends with that atiitude, I know as I used to do that!
2. WHo cares about DNC in a RUN thread? No one because its inmaterial so, stop derailing the topic.
3. Adding a Tank class to the game when mechanics do not support a Tank is a really backwards *** idea SE, Should have fixed emnity BEFORE you did that.
RUN is a DD BRD effectively, with a Greatsword but no access to Ragnatok, Mythic or Calad. It's a gimp PLD at the minute, as PLD can cap MDB and MDT gear easily enough... RUN works more like Carol songs for the PT but generates alot of hate when using these.
So its a DD BRD as it can't backline when creating hate roughly the same as a font Line DD.
Sad but true ~ Nobody likes i told you so because they are wrong.
I finished derailing the topic earlier and the DDDNC thing was one other thing i was right about so it fit. RDM is now being discussed in multiple threads here about enfeebling. Please look back at "the role of RDM" or whatever thread and see how that fight lasted 6 pages when i was right anyway.
The enmity issue will be fixed further but we got a sample of this fix this update. I dont know about you but when i cycle the runes and then do Pflug->Vallation i have hate. I can continue to hald that hate with Valiance -> Liement-> One For All -> Flash. Add in WS/Lunge damage for more hate. The problem im having is the DT- options are more lacking than what PLD has. Which would be slightly negated if i had cures merited shellra V and other buffs all the time.
TL;DR im not a troll, but continue to believe what you wish.
But sorry to start the derailment again, please continue.
New BLU spells are probably coming with RUN/GEO genkai and (hopefully) their AF/Relic/empyrean sets. Or hopefully shortly thereafter :(

well the thing about that though... is the last 4 new jobs, have revolved around ideas RDMs were throwing around as ways to help/fix the job.
"what if we buffed it's magic, but attached it to like a stance. so you'd be in WHM mode OR BLM mode. that way it wouldn't be op" SE releases scholar.
"what if we had some way to convert TP into cures or buffs or something. blend the melee and support and make melee more useful?" SE releases dancer.
"what if there was some mechanic to make our buffs aoe, or even into auras? that way we could give out stuff like phalanx, gains, or temper?" se tells us it's impossible, then, geomancer.
"What if they gave RDM runic, like from FF6. that way we could help support by mitigating big nukes. it would even add to our elemental damage?" rune fencer.
so i assure you, it's not an issue of a 7 year old going "i want that!" whenever they see anything they don't have.
it's an issue of us coming up with these ideas BEFORE they were announced or implemented, being shot down or "ignored" then watching them be used to make entirely new jobs.
seriously, if you have a job you want, suggest it's core mechanics as a fix for RDM?

SE did "fix" enfeebles, it made them nearly unresistible .. then gave them to GEO. RDM's asked for a bunch of new unique spells, SE's answer is .. I ***you not .. "There is a limit to the total number of spells in the game and we're approaching that limit so we don't want to create many new spells". And then they f*cking create GEO with a sh!t ton of "new spells". Did they seriously need to create two of every spell, why not one and just have it function differently based on who / what it's targeting.
And Buzzwords is correct. Every new ability / job we've seen since WoTG was first suggested amongst the RDM's as a way to "fix" the job without making it OP. SE took the ideas, fleshed them out and created new jobs while leaving RDM alone. All because their afraid someone will figure out a way to solo some as of yet unreleased content.

I'm thinking RUN will settle into two primary roles
1- Co Tank
2- reliable DD with solid survive-ability.
As a co-tank, I think/anticipate RUNs will enhance WAR/PLD/SAM/NIN/MNK as tanks by providing their magic resist enhancements to the front lines. Any job tanking with a RUN co-tanking will be more effective against certain types of mobs that have been problematic in the past.
As a reliable DD, I think RUN will be less of an MP sink, and be able to hold its own vs heavier hitters such as war/drk/sam while still providing the benefits mentioned above, trailing other DD, but not as bad as PLD or lolmelee RDM.

Just tell you how f8cked up SE is. For a long time on the OF I was suggesting SE create some enfeebles that let us reduce the monsters stats directly. Accuracy Down, Attack Down, Magic Attack Down, STR Down, that kind of stuff.

There you go folks. The "master of enfeebling" is now GEO with nigh unresistible enfeebles. They can even give ... Aura buffs, something Red Mages asked for and were told "no it would be too powerful".

I think they should just give RDM the tier 5 nukes and cures, higher elemental and healing skill, but not the aoes and let them both nuke and cure like BLM and WHM, they should also add some RDM only swords that boost nukes like elemental staves and RDM only shields that boost cures. I also think RDM should get Vorpal and Swift, if RUN gets them, RDM should.

I'm really not seeing a use for RUN at the moment beyond gimmicky crap or people just having fun with it by tossing it into current events. Perhaps if SE releases another AV type mob where AOE magic shield is actually needed.
It just completely lacks decent damage/attack JAs, and still really doesn't take the place of PLD for adds tanking or HNM holding. Resolution is trash with the lack of attack. Dual wield offers the damage of a mediocre BLU without the spells. There are better jobs suited to evasion tank while still doing damage.
I'm not impressed sadly.

It may be a bit to early to ask, but what do you guys see RUN's role will be with in a group. As the game is, I can't see it filling the tank role as SE suggests. It comes across to me as more of a DD with emphasis on magic defence.
I've just returned to the game because of the new expansion and would like to know what you think before I decide to take a dive into this job.
