I don't have much of a problem with viewing games from my Wii emulators on lcd tvs, may just be me though.
Plus save states = /orgasm.
you could probably get the tools to fix tube tvs for cheap now, I mean they still exist as people prefer analog amps (ones with tubes) for some audio, but a lot of places are probably hawking their tools, I honestly had the chance to get some for free and passed on it.
I have some speculation on as to why it doesn't look right, but I'd rather look it up than sit here and speculate on it.
I would say its because the wii is made to be used on hdtv's. kinda like when I play my emulators on my pc, SMB3 looks fine on my led monitor but is almost unplayable on the nes connected to my led tv

with a default of composite out, and at most component out, don't think so.
I'm willing to bet it's something the emulator is handling tbh.

lol @ claiming that I'm the one who's mad.
1. you know nothing about me.
2. copying software isn't stealing, so I don't need to "justify" anything.
3. I do it now out of spite, instead of just conveniance.
4. You still defend Vista, regardless of how you want to spin it, you're still defending it. I'm sorry that you don't understand such a simple concept.
5. u mad
6. lol @ trying to sound hip by using a word you can't even spell then ninja-editing it.
No, I know your type, seems you do too
YOU DON'T KNOW ME, DON'T SAY I STEAL SOFTWARE, I JUST COPY SOFTWARE THAT I DON'T OWN, TOTALLY DIFFERENT BRO!'
Yet, you claim to say I'm defending Vista, by saying that it was functional for me, seems like you're claiming to know me... but no no that was be hypocritical! and no way you're that!
and yeah, I do get the fact that 'you're mad' because when like actually arguments are made, all you respond with is basically 2nd grade insults' so... yeah... that is why I jump magically to that unfounded conclusion.

Playing Wii games even on my Wii-U which upscales it to 1080p still look pretty bad :\

SE cut there BC on the ps3 to resell those ps2/1 games to us and make a profit. i will be saving to buy the next gen gaming devices b/c Consol wars are just stupid. ppl are just blind to the fact that MS, SONY even NINTENDO screws us all in the end anyway.

you could be right, not really up on the wii. I gave up on Nintendo after the 64. I got my wife a red limited edition NSMB for xmas year before last just to be able to say I have one.... its been used maybe 5 times lol

maybe that isn't how the people making the games feel, but I'm sure the highest of the high ups at all 3 companies feel that way.
People just need to be more jaded, lol

you seem to like to talk about yourself a lot.
You don't comprehend that you ARE/WERE defending Vista, despite what you think, the arguments you were/are making are and were defending Vista, that's all there is to it.
I don't need to justify myself to you, you can attempt to guilt me all you want, but I know the difference between stealing and copying something that's just 0's and 1's.

NP.
To be fair my Wii was gifted to me, and the first thing I did to it was hack it.
I've sinced turned and bought 2 more (one for my nephew and one for 2 friends) hacked them and loaded hard drives with games.
They love it.

Vista is functional... it's a fact. You can dislike Vista as much as you want, I don't like it either ... but it doesn't change the fact that it works.
Technically ME was "functional" it doesn't mean it wasn't a horrible OS.
By Jetackuu 2013-04-08 15:31:53
If something can do everything you need it to do without too much trouble, it's not a horrible OS, it's functional. I've used Vista for 1 year and besides using more memory it really didn't affect anything I did .... don't need to be bipolar about things.
yeah: I think this about sums up my response:

why do I see people always complain that a system isn't backwards compatible? Its not like your old system is unusable the day a new one comes out, lol.

why do I see people always complain that a system isn't backwards compatible? Its not like your old system is unusable the day a new one comes out, lol. It has more to do with the fact that systems age and eventually cease to function. When that happens, people suddenly find themselves unable to play games for said system because the newer models lack any form of backwards compatability. I have three PS2s in my house, one of which is nine years old and no longer capable of reading discs. How long before the other two reach the same state and I become incapable of enjoying the 50+ PS2 games I possess? Not to mention all of my PS1 games.

PS3 supports PSX discs, oh and the laser on the PS2 can be adjusted, but if you're not used to taking things apart, it can be a *** to get to it, and you should have some proper tools (like a multimeter to test the pot that you adjust).

I've looked up videos about recalibrating the laser on the PS2, but the thought of screwing something up beyond repair gives me pause. (That and not having a multimeter...)
Edit: My point was that there are reasons people *** about consoles not having backwards compatability.

It's a matter of comfort and a means to eliminate the need for excessive clutter and a clutching grip of hope that your old systems hold out beyond their general life expectancy simply so you have the ability to play games of old. We all know support and print for older systems eventually fades out. Retailers stop carrying the system, games, and accessories, and support for troubleshooting or repair also fade from the publishers themselves. Which leaves you at the mercy of how well the device was manufactured, and how much longer it will hold out as the years pass.
On a lighter note, it's also a bit of a pain hooking up any more than 3 systems from the same publisher for the simple task of wishing to play an older game, especially when it is well within their capacity (software based or otherwise) to enable backwards compatibility on the newer system that is still being supported.
In the end, gamers are left with three options
Pray your old system doesn't die
Hope there's relatively inexpensive replacement options via ebay/craigslist/amazon
Wait for emulation software
None of which benefit the company, manufacturer, or publisher, despite being in full control of eliminating those factors for the users, and even opening another potential gateway for profit.
Either as a feature for the sales pitch which many would appreciate and flock too, or at the very least, a means through virtual console, which sadly can be somewhat alienating to those who had already purchased their games and essentially have to re-buy them just to play it again.

I find it funny how people are saying the 'Always-On' feature is just a rumor, yet when Microsoft issued a press release after the Orth Tweeter Trolling they didn't deny that their system had this feature. They only stated "we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap". Which doesn't mean that there isn't a 'Always-On' feature. To be honest I wouldn't be sad to see Mircosoft kill their system. I loved the original Xbox, but quite frankly the 360 sucks. They lost thee format war to Bluray, it only can show 720p graphics, and doen't have a lot or very good exculsives. I mean they have RARE but ever since they left Nintendo they haven't released anything notable except remakes of the N64 games.

Actual ramifications, or scapegoating?
Yet to be known...
By Fumiku 2013-04-11 02:21:43
I will probably step out of the console wars if the rumors end up being true. With the rumors buzzing around about the 720 being online only and the games being linked to each system, and Sony currently talking about download only, I have no desire to let a company pigeon hole me.
I buy used games for a reason. That reason is, if I suspect a game to be sub-par, I will not pay the full price of 50 dollars. I always pay full price for games that I know are going to be good. Yea, I have been burned a couple if times, but I am not going to go out and buy every game out there just to be burned.
I have no problem with companies making money. That is why they are in business for, but you know how to make money? MAKE GOOD PRODUCTS! People are not going to buy every thing you throw out there just because you slap a new COD logo on it or OMG THE NEW DBZ GAME IS HAWT JUST CAUSE IT SAYS OMG DBZ.....well, some people will but they deserve to get burned.
Me, however. I will wait till you drop a suspect game in price or I will buy it used. If you try to force me to buy sub par games at full price I think it is time to pull my support to your company.

For all the posters here who think the sun shine out of Microsoft's ***, peruse this Link:
Tepid Reception To Windows 8 Blamed For Drop In PC Sales (from NPR)
First paragraph: Quote: Sales of new PCs plummeted nearly 14 percent globally in the first three months of the year and much of the blame is being placed on Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system.

Video game rumors on the internet arn't true!? now i've seen everything!
but again, I wouldn't doubt this at all to be true that the rumors were just BS and were just fires started by trolls and MS Haters.
like I've been saying from the start, it's probably just the dev kits that need to be 'Always online' and normal consumer units would not be. I still wouldn't but it past them to have some type of online DRM like a one time installation authentication, but always on? always seemed unlikely.
I'll really laugh if like their slogan is gonna be 'XBox, it's always online' or something stupid like that, implying enhanced XBL features ect and not DRM, then someone took that phrase and ran with it.
By Jetackuu 2013-04-11 13:07:21
friend sent me a message earlier saying the subscription subsidized boxes will require it, others wont.
not sure the accuracy, not at a computer to check.
So, there is a console-war about to kick off, and a few opening rounds have been fired, with more to come in the ensuing months.
However, one of those rounds fired was aimed straight at the consumer base...huh? Thats right, Microsoft employee Adam Orth, newly crowned hero to Sony/Nintendo fans, spouted off on Twitter last night, attacking, well everyone.
Let me give some background information first. Officially, the next xbox has not been announced and all of the information pertaining to it is strictly "rumored." Two of the biggest rumors are mandatory Kinect ( Lengthy Video) and Always online. ( Always online article)
The always online rumors have really picked up of late, and after the disasterous SimCity launch, fan feedback has been largely negative towards the idea. Hostility amplified with the latest article stating that if the xbox lost internet for 3 minutes, the game would stop and players would no longer be able to play. Again, I stress that these are rumors, and they have been posted by Kotaku, not exactly reliable.
Well ladies and gentleman, hard working Adam Orth did not take too kindly to such hostility, breaking normal company policy and addressing said hostile reactions on twitter. Hilarity ensues: Huh? Even Amandarius makes more sense than this. But he wasn't done, in what will do more for Sony's PS4 than their marketing team could ever do, he posted this response to a Bioware employee:
Quote: "Sorry, I don't get the drama around having an 'always-on' console," he said. "Every device is now 'always-on'. #dealwithit" Well then, ok. So far I have been completely neutral regarding next gen, but this was almost enough to push me to pre-ordering a PS4. How is that for dealing with it, Adam?
Microsoft has sense issued an apology: Quote: "We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter." Not a spokesperson, ok, but still an employee, and your name is on his tweets. This is going to be a marketing disaster for Microsoft, I can just see E3 now, Sony rolls out Kevin Butler for an Adam Orth roast. Even if these rumors turn out to not be true, and they are looking more and more credible, else why would an employee even address them, Microsoft has a pretty big hole to climb out of because of this one man. I expect him to resign soon enough, too little too late. IGN Source article. Feel free to discuss, I am going to find a battery operated vacuum cleaner.
Edit - Adam Orth is a Creative Director at Microsoft.
Edited for clarification.
