I'm getting tired sitting idle in Adoulin and Jeuno looking at shouts. And, I'm getting tired seeing my friends do stuff and they never ask if I'm busy or available to do join them. If I ask them they always tell me I'm busy all the time. Yet, I idle in game about 80% to 90% of the time since I've reactivated FFXI last April after a two-year hiatus.
I usually try to keep myself busy by helping other players, join a random shout for Voidwatch, do Colonization Reives, Coalition assignments, sit somewhere and look at shouts/yells for half the day until Salvage, or level my Smithing up. Smithing is currently Veteran at level 88.
I'm looking for a group that can at least keep me busy in the game. I have chemo every three weeks, my next one is two weeks from now. The game keeps me occupied while in the hospital and while at home between treatments.
I'm interested in doing the following since they are either exclusive or relegated to statics or Linkshells nowadays.
Delve Plasm farming.
Delve Bosses.
Meebles Burrows
Legion
Level 99 Dynamis Lord
Level 99 Odin II
Neo-Nyzul Isle (NNI)
Optional Sea farming and Limbus (Lvl 75 and Lvl 99 versions)
Optional Dynamis Relic AF-1 farming
Provenance (Note: I'm stuck on Jeuno T1 Voidwatch quest. I would like to get access to Provenance.)
I have the following jobs:
Mage/Support: 99 WHM, 99 RDM, 99 BRD, 99 COR
Damage: 99 RNG, 99 DRG
Tank: 99 PLD * No Aegis/Ochain, no Shadowlord cape or rings (was never allowed to lot them in previous LSes), but I have MDB/PDT, enmity, Fast Cast, and -% Damage Taken sets, Koenig Shield and Seignur Shield.
Other: 99 DNC
Subjobs: 51 SCH, 51 THF, 67 WAR, 51 BLM, 50 NIN
All merits to relative Lvl. 99 jobs are capped except for the weapon skills merits. Extenerator and Star Diver which are level 2 each. Apex Arrow and Last Stand are at level 5.
WHM, BRD, COR, RDM, RNG, DRG (missing Delve weapon), and DNC are geared decently and many have multiple sets for different situations.
Working on the following: (Note: A lot of these I started 3 years ago but people stopped helping me back then so never finished them.) Empyrean weapons (in order of priority)
Armageddon - currently on Carabosse Gems, ~50% completed on current trial
Gandiva - currently on Bukhis' Wings, ~50% completed on current trial
Daurdabla - currently on Iron Metal Plates, ~33% completed on current trial
Rhongomiant - unknown where I am, will update later.
Ochain - Not started.
Relics (Note: Started in 2006, still slowly working on it.)
Gjallarhorn - currently have Dynamis Horn, 30/60 M. Silverpieces, ~50% to Stage 4
Have not decided on another Relic to start

I currently have a Salvage I/II static that goes nearly every day pending real life work of my two other static members. We usually start some time after 7:00 PM PST, since I'm on the West Coast, and latest we do runs is about 12 AM PST my time.
So, I'm looking for something to do before I do Salvage. I get tired too easily nowadays since the chemo started so I can't really stay up too late. 12 midnight is probably the latest I'll stay up to do something like my Salvage static.
History I've joined FFXI in 2004 and have played since then. I quit towards the end of 2010 and reactivated my account last April.
Most importantly I'm looking for something to do. Second priority is to finish a lot of things I started years ago like my Relic Horn and Empyrean weapons.
I don't have a lot of friends in this game, and I'm usually in constant contact with only two to three of them, but we're not enough to do a lot of things I'd like to do in this game.
I've had 24 Linkshells break up on me in a span of 6 years. Almost all of them broke up due to internal LS drama, and other times real life stuff came up. So, it's been hard trying to get things done in this game due to lack of friends, or a good group of people to do things with, or an LS that won't break up on me.
My best Linkshells were two Japanese endgame LSes and one European endgame Linkshell. My worst Linkshells have been North American-based with past NA LS leaders being the cause of all the LS break-ups I've had. That's from my own personal experience, unless someone from an NA LS can change my mindset.
I've been involved in a lot of HNM fights in this game, Abyssea NMs and bosses, Nyzul Isle, Aht Urghan HNMs, Sea NMs and bosses, have access and beaten all Dynamis areas, done Walk of Echoes a few times. I still feel like I haven't done everything yet and would like to catch up on a lot of things that I haven't done in the two years I've been away from the game. If I can't be a part of any group-- Linkshell or Static, feel free to ask me in-game to see if I'm free and if you need a certain job to do something like Plasm farming or Voidwatch.
If anyone needs help with certain missions that go as far back as Rank missions (except Bastok) to Aht Urghan, Promathia, and Wings of the Goddess missions, I wouldn't mind helping with those either.
That'll be fine as well. Just don't be afraid to ask me, I don't bite. I'm pretty good at responding to tells in-game, and I'll let you know if I'm occupied doing something random due to my boredom.
Other than that, any help to keep me occupied in the game will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the kind words Joshi; you're the only one that's responded so far.
I wish I could solo Delve bosses, Dynamis Lord, Odin II, Legion, all of Voidwatch, solo Lvl 99 Limbus Omega/Ultima, and Absolute Virtue or the countless number of Abyssea NMs I need.
But, with this game it's absolutely impossible to do that.
*sigh*
I don't even have the connections or know people that can let me join them to do these things.

I can also vouch for Aselin as being a fantastic player and person.
I don't do much aside from try to make money to fund my Mandau at the minute, and only have a group of 2 others i do stuff with - Syrup isn't too into playing at the minute though.
Always happy to join in anything, time permitting of course, but all you need to do is gimme a /tell, always up for trying anything in this game - low man all the things!

I have considered it four, five years ago.
I've been on Bismarck since 2004 and if it's the same on other servers-- doing anything that I've mentioned above is exclusive to Linkshells and statics you never hear about-- I think I'll be out of luck.

Finish COR, PLD, BRD, RDM, DNC, DRG, and RNG Empyrean +2 armors.
Finish Empyrean weapons I listed above. I am in the same situation as you are. T.T A friend of mine quit a few days ago, character deleted/account deactivated because according to him: Nothing but Delve to do in this game now.

All I'm asking is one simple thing: Give me something to do or is it possible I can join someone or some person's group to give me something to do.
I've listed a lot of the things I'd still like to do in this game. I just wish I was part of a static or LS that does them. I've had such terrible luck with Linkshells for six straight years up until I quit. I'd like to get somewhere instead of seeing another static or Linkshell break up.
Is that too much too ask? Is it too much to ask from my friends to let me join them too?
I hope not.

Just gimme a ring when you pop on so you can drag my BLM around for your procs. I'm still willing to help you finish your Gjallhorn, though there's still that one 'tard-bazaar out in Bastok Markets (S).

A lot of friends and old players quit ffxi because they are on the same situation as you, but this is a global issue, server transfer won't work. The main problem is the low server population, there's nobody to play ffxi but jps and some established linkshells that are not recruiting/ non-exsitant. On top of that, delve/bayld farming is super boring and extremely repetitive.

You have time, and others that log onto FFXI either have what they want for the most part or they don't have the time that you have available. That or they just plainly feel like this game is the worst thing ever. And, those people want to blame that rather than being unsuccessful in this game maybe because of the way people act over the internet, etc. If that's the case for a lot of people I know on this server, then I'm out of luck.
I do Salvage I and II with two people and it's probably the only constant thing I've been doing lately. My other LS seems to stop doing stuff, but many members in that LS are in exclusive statics for Dynamis and Delve runs. Then, I have another LS that's become more of a social LS now and we haven't done anything there for several weeks already.
And, I have other friends on my Friend List I know are there that does things. However, they have their own Linkshell or static to do things. It would feel like I'm intruding if I want to ask them if I can join, and if I do, they already have people from their own groups to do things with in this game. A third of my Friend List are people that used to be on Bismarck and are scattered between Asura and Ragnarok.
The game is a lot like high school. Everyone has their own cliques and social groups they belong to. It's pretty much the story of my life in this game for the previous six years. I'd be in one group (Linkshell) then another yet my friends have their own groups, and it feels like at times I'm not their friend or I'm not a part of their world.
What did I want out of this game when I reactivated?
Well, for one, to keep me distracted and busy. I have chemotherapy every three weeks until January or February of 2014 (estimated). Before this I usually just play other [offline] games but I've beaten them all. (Yay for short 20 hour gameplay games! Thanks console-to-PC port developers for making my $50 to $60 not worth jack!) That or read and write. This game is a good distraction.
Two, a friend talked me into reactivating but he quit the game not too long ago. Yay! *sigh*
Thirdly, now that I've reactivated, I want to finish a lot of stuff I've started years ago. Sad as it is, but I've been working on getting Gjallarhorn finished so I can start the Magian trials. I've been working on that since 2005/2006. I've been insulted at many times for not buying the Gil to finish it (yes, sad but true) or not going to a bigger LS such as Lunarians, ArchDominus, or Iron (when they were around), or another endgame/HNM LS that existed back then. The last Linkshell I was in years ago required members to self-fund it to Stage 3 at time I had no luck making money in the game since Smithing was going nowhere (and still isn't a money-maker nowadays). I started a lot of Empyrean weapon trials shortly after Abyssea came out. I could not finish any of them. Friends stopped helping or either quit the game entirely three-plus years ago. So, I got stuck there and I did not want to pay players to help me because I do not have the money for that. I got a few friends when I reactivated to help me get Armageddon and Gandiva trials a little further but have not continued helping me finish them for quite some time now.
Now, it feels like I'm back at where I was two to three years ago-- semi-active Linkshells, lack of friends in the game, and lack of people to help me. Hahaha... */stagger*
So, do I quit now and save myself from mental stress or trudge forward? The game is paid off for another six months. I could just save myself the trouble and use the Crysta for FFXIV and start over on that.
Then again, I've made two promises to two friends-- one to finish Salvage completely and not do it again ever unless we start doing Mythics; and promised another friend to get him an "Adaberk" so I've been leveling Smithing when I have the spare Gil. I like to keep promises.

I have active accounts in TERA, SWOTOR, LoTR Online, RIFT Online, Guild Wars 2, Mabinogi, Ragnarok Online 2, and other F2P games. Neither games have held my attention for long, and a lot of them feel like World of Warcraft with different skins, story, setting, and slight changes to the WoW-clone formula. Probably the only F2P game that's held my attention the longest is Pangya since that's rather relaxing to play.
I still haven't pre-ordered FFXIV yet but I do plan on playing it when it launches. I'll give that game another chance seeing that Alpha and Beta test showed some promise. Though, however, I'm weary on how Square-Enix is going to treat that game after having played FFXI for six years... I need a lot of Plasm to finish off upgrading weapons and armors I bought with Plasm.
But, I have noticed that the server population is pretty low. The highest I've seen it since I've came back was around 1500 players on weekends then drops to the low 1000s players on weekdays, and lowest I've seen was below 1000 players on either weekends or weekdays. It seems that the most active players in this game are Japanese players. It's rather curious because when it comes to other F2P MMOs, it's mostly Asian or non-NA players that are more active than NA and EU players as well. Maybe non-WoW MMOs have died off or are losing interest among NA players.
What am I going to do today until Salvage later tonight? Watch shouts for a good while, maybe something will come up. Of course, I have Reddit, Youtube, and various stories I write in my free time to keep me busy. If I wasn't at risk at getting infected by some stranger, I'd rather be working but doctor's orders until this chemo is finished and the cancer is gone completely.
Lately, I've been putting this into my Search comments on-and-off, but it doesn't look like anybody uses the Search function anymore. It's like a lost art in this game. Code [Plasma charge] or Delve T1-T5+[Boss]

And, knowing the trend lately, I won't get any bites. I never put PLD up there because people are so hopped up on Ochain PLD. You know I can still tank alright without one? And, I don't put DNC on there because most of everyone considers it a solo job in this game, not worth using inside places like Delve or Voidwatch (THF usually gets picked over DNC anyhow on this server...).
I haven't done a Plasm farm or Boss attempt for a while now. Those T1 to T5 NM fights give a lot of Plasm, if successful. I may end up doing some Colonization Reives and hope for a JSE cape that I can actually equip.
This is what I've been doing lately for the past two weeks or so now until Salvage starts while I see people on my Friend List doing their own things. *sigh*
It's like a repeat of history of three years ago...

Hey Ase. I know you hate being stuck on a single job, but finishing a 90+ Emp Harp, then working on your Horn some more, and most any group will gladly take you in. But, you would almost certainly be locking yourself on BRD, which while you don't hate doing, I do remember you not liking being on a single job full-time.

^this. assaults and ToAU mission, camping 3 kings, runic key, odin/NQ salvage wins to start. Then daily salvage/einherjar, assaults every 5 days, money farming for the next 6 months or more. You really wont' run out of things to do lol

I think it would be best to find what YOU really want to do.
This kind of behavior, leaving to others to decide whats gonna happen is like leaving your destiny to fate.
As majority of player dont give a ***about each other, and now when everyone have plenty of SOLO stuffs to do, good luck in your boreness.
Dont forget to turn on the tv or grab a book while playing. It will be the best thing you can possibly do.
