Why did I link IC? Now I'm debating playing again and attempting to fix my horribly broken reputation ;_;
What'd you do? And is it just a roleplaying game?
It is a space game.
I shall now explain it.
Everything is done via weeks or "ticks". One week (or tick) is 1 real life hour. So every hour on the hour, the galaxy progresses one week. Each week, you get resources based on what buildings you have on your planet (for instance, mining facilities give you iron, cash factories gold, etc.) There are 5 resources:
Gold
Iron
Endurium
Octarine
Food
These are each used (except food) for building military units and buildings. Gold is also used for funding covert operations, explorations, and attacks. Octarine is used for casting spells. Food is used to feed your population. If your population starves, your income is cut in half.
Each unit, planet, and building you have contributes to your overall networth. The objective is to have the highest networth (or the most planets, but networth is generally given higher value amongst the community).
Now, you aren't on your own. You are put in a family. Your family elects a leader and the leader can choose vice-leaders and such. You can also ally another family, and create Non-aggression pacts (NAPs) with other families. The usual style of play is you designate certain players to do certain tasks (IE: attacker, banker, opper, etc.)
You also choose a race to play as. Races each have bonuses and negatives. You can also create your own race (most people do). For example, a good pure attacker race would be sure to get +50% attack and +100% speed, while keeping income at -30% and population growth at -30%.
Now there are 2 ways to get planets. Explore empty ones and take them from an enemy (or ally if you so desire).
There are 2 ways to defend your planets. Station units on the planet or build a portal. Portals allow your entire army to defend when attacked, and also allow you to launch attacks from that planet rather than your home planet (cutting down travel time).
While ops and spells are very useful, you cannot take planets with them. They are not to be ignored though. To defend against ops, build wizards and agents. The more you have, the less likely ops will succeed against you. Of course to op yourself, you need a lot of wizard and agents. It works both ways.
Okay that's the basics I guess.
