I'm kind of guilty of nagging when my work is dependent on someone else's completed portion of it. I'm a stickler for keeping to my personal schedule for certain projects, and it ends up putting me in an unnecessarily pissy mood when others don't meet my expectations.

Well, I just know approximately how long my portion of the work will take, so when it's encroaching on that time-span that's when I get bitchy.

You can always just talk to the impatient people and go hey... I got this much work to do this is where you are in the order... unless this is something that you need imediately... it will take about this long to get to it and complete... You can also add that if they keep bugging you it will take more time because you will have to respond and well yeah...

Edit: I find when you communicate with most people and let them know that you have it and are working on it or will be they tend to calm down and be more patient... When you ignore them or put it off because they are annoying they usually only get more annoying... just in general though...

Hey if you give someone something on time with an ample/reasonable amount of time to complete and they don't... well yeah...

I dislike when you get an assignment and they give you a deadline and then get pissed when you don't have it done before then lol...

Hey hey hey. I can only "fix" a computer by pressing Num Lock so many times before I get irritated that something isn't "working".

I'm still nice to them anyway though!

I honestly don't understand the whole "I know nothing about computers and I am not willing to learn" attitude. So many problems can be solved simply by LOOKING at it and/or reading the message on the screen. Also, those error messages pop up for a reason. Don't close it and tell me "A message popped up on the screen, but I didn't read it and just closed it." Helps me none!

I look at it like this... there's something that I know nothing about and that someone else will think I'm HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE for not knowing...

Also, it's your job... There are a great deal of people out there who know little to nothing about computers or ahve any idea about how they work... If you get into that field you should know that already and be ready to deal with that and not be a *** about it lol... Personally I'd be glad it wasn't something major that would take a lot of my time to do...

I "fixed" a printer today by turning it on.
Printers are my kryptonite. Half the time they're refusing to connect and the other half they're eating my paper rather than printing. And always just before I have to leave for class.

Why would we need tech guys then?

Edit: IT guys get paid so that others don't have to do that stuff... Also, it prevents people from trying to fix problems on their own and breaking it further... I know here at work we're not supposed to do anything for fear that we will make it worse... you just call helpdesk and they're supposed to fix it... We have no onsite IT in this office either so its all remote.

the olds over here in my office get all stupid about technology like that. I just laugh. what can you do? these old timers were literally already 30-40 years old when computers were invented, let alone made it into the construction industry in south dakota. I don't blame them.

I don't think anyone likes printers. I swear they are the only device on the face of the Earth that refuse to work just because they straight up don't feel like it that day.

Yet fax machines, which haven't changed in years, function correctly all the time, and they're really not much different. >.>

Yes, but don't you think that someone who uses a computer every single day for work should know what the num lock key does?

I mean you shouldn't be a *** about it, but they also shouldn't be TOTALLY helpless. I have better things to do than turn on their monitor for them. Like I said though, I'm still nice about it despite how irritating it can be :P
