Not to rub it in the Hoppy's face, but thinking about giving sushi another try, it's been a while, my tastes have changed a little and I'm looking to add some variety to my nutritional spectrum.
Any suggestions? Was thinking of starting "basic" and going with some California roll from someplace I have it on good authority does sushi well. *fills Ramyrez' fish with tons of wasabi*

Salmon tuna shrimp are good starter ones.
eel is good, but can be an acquired taste. If you go for a sushi roll, california, Tempura Philadelphia, spicy lobster. Caterpillar iss a good one too.

And some sake, hot, or sparkling or clouded sake for cold
Kirin if beer if don't want alcohol, ask for some calpice or ramune Green tea if you wuss out on the mentioned drinks.

As for the options, you all have given many. Should be an interesting meal.

Eh. I've had what I've been told is good sushi in the past and wasn't the biggest fan, but as I've said...my tastes have changed a little and want to add some depth to my "things I can eat that I don't have to make for myself".
It will probably be next weekend before I get to try just because an hour ago I thought I was going to see my parents and stay on the boat this weekend, thereby being around a really good sushi place (again, so I've been told), but now it turns out there's going to be a lot of wind and rain and not-good-boating-times, so. Postponed! It's cool. I'll chow on some sushi and Sapporo while everyone else is swilling Budweiser and eating Uncle Sam's partially-cooked hamburgers. So, Ramy's footing the bill for sushi for all of Ni today?

It can be trick keeping the heat consistent and fish should only be on there for around twenty-five minutes or so. Just a heads up tho.
Each sushi restaurant is a bit different. Some are sort of buffet, others have a little track with plates spinning around and some you order straight up. Also each place has custom names for custom rolls of sushi,for their unique menu, or sushi combos (plates with variety of sushi) so would be nice to look up the menu of the place you want to go to. Hand rolls can be a little pricey but usually worth it. Common etiquette should me: Dip once rule for soy sauce. One slice of a sushi roll is made to fit in your mouth, and to eat in bites. Same for each piece of sushi. Do not stick chopsticks in food and leave em there, It's an insult to the cook. Each plate of sushi, roll, etc comes with a small portion of ginger. This is used to clean your pallet between. Grab a slice, and rub it on your tongue and roof of mouth before you nom it. (Dont use fingers, duh)

I'd go with someone who likes sushi and get a sampler menu to share. This is the menu of my favorite place in atlanta, or was. Haven't been there in many years now.   Ugh, now I really want sushi.
