Ticket to ride is fun, I play it with my kids, they always beat me.
Machiavelli is fun too but its a card game. Chess? I havea Warhammer game which is for 2 but cant recall the name would have to go browse through my boardgame collection. edit: found it, its warhammer invasion...I suppose its also more a cardgame, but its fun.
