I honestly hope that laziness was the big issue with people needing help, and not stupidity
"My screen is black." oh.... looks like the VGA or DVI is loose, no big deal "My screen is pink." oh.... looks like the VGA or DVI is loose, no big deal "I can't move my mouse to the left monitor." oh.... hmmmm *moves mouse right and watches it go to the left monitor from the right side* well... seeing as how you don't even know how to get to screen resolution settings... oh yeah, yup those monitors are switched, I don't even know how you managed that one "My computer is running slow" Do you just leave every document and program you having running from startup? Or do you just like seeing how many you can open in one day The one technology-competent non-IT employee left after I was there for like 6-months, I was not pleased Also doing IT in addition to programming really sucks, because programming wasn't as essential as someone being able to use a computer for like 4 hours while I figure out how to get my code to compile or w/e It would really *** with my state of mind while working on programming something because I would get interrupted like 5-20 times a day

Yeah that's sort of why I got taken on at that company, but with a larger programming role, but I had decent amounts of programming experience at that point and I'm apparently autistic when it comes to writing queries, so I didn't mind it I prefer programming to IT work anyways, I actually didn't know the job would have normal old "Plug in your monitor" IT work until I started working my first day and my supervisor asked me to help someone do something was like "Well, every other job I've had had programmers just program, but w/e I'm getting paid to do something easy".... and to be honest that's when I learned that I prefer smashing my head into a wall solving a problem instead of applying a simple fix 800 times because people can't fix it themselves.
