Bushido - The Way of The Samurai (A Guide) V. 2.0
By defu 2015-02-09 16:15:14
As a fresh 99 wearing sparks gear...there seems to be a million different choices of how to gear up SAM. I originally played when only relics were available (and nobody had them) so all of these new items are pretty daunting.
Is there any type of progression to follow? Am I supposed to make a relic? Mythic? +1? +2? What about armor? Trying to plan out the best path that will give me the best options combined with making some gil to fund this...I assume I can farm Dynamis for coins?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Just need pointed in the right direction.

Get a Tsurumaru from Foret delve. It is an extremely powerful weapon. Unlock Fudo from the Empyrean Weapon Skill quest. Work on your AF1/AF2 119 for TP and WS sets. Make a PDT set.
Samurai is an easy-ish job to gear to a usable point. Tsurumaru is better than empy 119 and relic 119. If you love the job, you'll want Kogarasumaru. That's the only GKT that has an edge on Tsu.

Tsurumaru is your best non-mythic weapon. It's a really solid weapon with a good chunk of accuracy on it, plus the save TP, making it significantly easier to gear for 4-hit setups while building on multi strikes. I'd suggest starting with some skirmish 2 to get otronif brais+otronif boots, some SKCNMs to get seals towards AF: hands, legs, feet, Relic: head, feet, body. I think tsurumaru can get away with using Xaddi Mail over Sakonji Domaru +1/Hime Domaru +1 but don't quote me on that.

Why does rana sucks so much...
Is the ftp right in bg? Just 1, for 50% str?
Phorcys no bueno? Maybe because it just applies to first hit so str ends being better?

Yeah, it sucks. Wish Rana got the same treatment as Expiacion and had its damage scale with TP for when I AM3. :/ And Mes'yohi for Rana. Maybe Sakonji +1 if you don't have that.

Hasso and Seigan Effect Gift -
Quote: Hasso: Increases the maximum chance of Zanshin activating, even when a melee attack hits, by 5%.
Seigan: Increases the maximum chance of Zanshin countering attacks by 5%.
Store TP Effect Gift -
Quote: Increases the TP gained when attacks connect by 2% Wasn't sure what exactly it meant by "2%" so I did a quick test. It's just an additional 2 STP.
Edit: Rereading it, though, I guess it was pretty obvious. Whatever.

Getting this as new all purpose TP set for Koga SAM. Might come a little bit behind Otronif(crit+2) with capped accuracy/attack from buffs, but crushes them when you aren't. STP could potentially go even higher than 6 on Acro, which would make them a clear winner.

Is Stinger actually better than Otomi with Haste augs? Or, for that matter, Acro Helm with haste augs? Just curious, I haven't done the maths.

Edit: Acro can be augmented with Haste+3.

So what were you using to augment with for those stats?

Balling stone +2, can be obtained by trading 5 wailing stones to the nearest screwed over machine.

And as a consolation (?) prize, you get a sieha dog -2.
Yes, its a cursed dog.

Probably going to wait a week or two before updating front page item sets with Alluvion Yorcia Skirmish stuff. Thought about just making another section including Yorcia gear and keeping the old sets as well, but that's too much work!

Augs so far using mainly +1 stones
leafslit +1 for DA
snowslit+1 for acc/atk acc atk
duskslitnq/+1 for crit hit dmg/crit
duskdim nq for str/chr (was using up stones to see what id get)
Ive heard you can get up to +300 save tp aug on weapons in place of dmg slot. Can ayone confirm 250 or higher to replace tsuru with acc/atk and DA6? The highest ive seen is 100 on a sword. I might just edit stp set and go for nene +dmg if i can get high base dmg on it.

Updated TP sets as of 2/26/2015. Main augment focus for me is on accuracy to allow for meat instead of riverfin/sushi, but clearly attack/accuracy combos ranging from 15-20 would be good too.
•Acro body/legs/feet ideal augments: STR/DEX+7, Accuracy+25, STP+6.
•Acro helm ideal augments: STR/DEX+7, Haste+3, Accuracy+25.

The Koga Mid is what i figured just by eye balling it. I keep losing lots on getting the gear ; ;. Nice job with sets.

More or less similar to what I've been cooking up, though I try evening out the level of accuracy between the accuracy sets.
([MaxAcc] - [LowAcc]) / ([# of sets] - 1) = Approximate accuracy increase per set change.
Also, I don't see a reason to use Bladeborn/Steelflash in your High acc set (or any Koga AM3 set) when you can just use Zennaroi/Tripudio for both more acc and more STP.

Keep in mind the accuracy I have listed and actual accuracy for people will vary wildly based on augments.

Sorry for the edits. Yeah, it needed a little more evening out, so updated the accuracy levels.

I've been working on the guide all day to make it more neat and easier to navigate. Thanks to Quetzalcoatl Falkirk for showing me some more formatting stuff.

I added some tables and more table of contents links for faster navigation. What you guys think?

Is 10 STR or some amount of WSD+ better for Fudo on Acro pieces? Given how close you can make acro breeches to the current leader of scuffler's cosciales (mine has Attack +25 and Double Attack +2%, so it's really close) I assume that at least that piece will become best in slot given one of the two augments.

Didn't really go in depth, but the little I messed around with it showed that at capped ratio, 3% WSD will beat 10 STR pretty handily, and at uncapped ratio 10 STR will beat 3% WSD, but just *barely* (barely so that 9 STR won't beat 3% WSD).
Edit: That's results with Tsuru, btw.
With Koga I'm getting 3% WSD as always better, though 10STR is close enough when ratio is uncapped that I'd consider them even, but of course 3% WSD would blow it away when capped.

I've heard 8/8 is max, but I can't recall seeing an SS of one with those values.

There's not been even 1 report of 8/8 on BG coupled with the fact I've done enough augmenting to put 7/7 on 4 different pieces makes me nearly positive 7/7 is the cap.
