ok i was wondeing you can critcal hit on nearly if not everything in the game hell evan a avatar can hit one but can blue magic hit critical i have never heard of it but the SA cannonball seems to be one but does it count your thoughts
SA isn't for a critical, it's for a non-resist (I believe) physical spell blow.
SA with physical blue magic still make them crit.
As for naturally, it's like WS's in that it has to have crit in the description for it to be able to crit. Sickle slash is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that has it. yea but does it have to say in the descrip that it has a chance to critical like cant disserverment crit hit n one of the hits or hysteric barrage or sub zero smash

May not be true for all weapon skills, but I know that even with out "chance to crit varies by tp" weaponskills can still critical (example, penta thrust, which has "accuracy varies with tp") As for blue magic, my guess would be yes, since for example, black magic can critical hit, and witch sash slightly improves that. Black magic does not crit without an MCrit piece equipped.
Physical Blue Magic can crit if it's "Chance of critical varies with TP" or if it's used with Sneak Attack. Magical spells would require MCrit equipment, either the MCrit augment on the MKD headpiece (don't do this) or the Wise Strap (don't use this either) since we can't equip the Witch Sash. Maxz - No, none of those other ones can crit, you MUST have crit in the desc or it cannot.
Daimos - Along the same lines, no, penta cannot crit. It's been tested a lot and proven it wont' crit without something like SA or Mighty Strikes. You look at WS'es like rampage and RR, and you can see when crits happen because the dmg just skyrockets, you won't see comparable differences with other non crit WS'es. All of this can be countered with "Yes it can with SA or Mighty Strikes." Forced crits still mean it can crit, it just can't crit naturally. Daimos was likely referring to Mighty Strikes when he referenced Penta Thrust. But critting naturally is what we care about, being able to crit once every 2 hrs is not exactly useful. I highly doubt he was talking about MS when he said that.
I can crit on a spell once a minute. I consider that useful, therefore I care about it.
*shrug*, but you require /thf to do it. You cannot crit on it naturally without that and that's what the OP was interested in the first place.

Sounds like he's interested in SA to me. Sounds like he already knew about SA, hence he doesn't care about it. He wants to know about other cases.

Since the rest of the thread just appears to be a huge mess, here is a summary bullet-point style:
- You CANNOT critical a spell without the use of a job ability. - SNEAK ATTACK will critical the first hit of any NON-RANGED* physical spell. - CHAIN AFFINITY will have a CHANCE to critical any spell with "Chance of critical varies with TP." in its description. *By ranged, I mean spells that follow ranged attack calculations (Queasyshroom, Feather Storm, Pinecone Bomb). Cannonball is NOT a ranged attack, and thus can be SATA'd. |
