Damn, you just reminded me, I forgot to see how much I'll owe with my FOREX account. Not sure how that works, except the account was only opened less than a month ago.

You should be good.

You won't owe any taxes from that account until next year. You may have to pay in quarterly if it is large enough, and depending on how much you owed last year outside of what is withheld (i.e. taxes withheld from your paycheck and such). It depends on several factors to be honest.

Because your conspiracy theory that the rich is waging (raging) war against you.
It's not a conspiracy theory, it's been pretty evident from the past 50 years.

That's good, I didn't think it would matter this go around. Don't want to get stuck with quarterly though.

Talk to your tax guy. He would be able to tell you if you would/should owe quarterly or not.

I can't really tell you much without asking too much personal info, and I really don't trust the PM system THAT much to ask you to PM me it either... (no offence Scragg)

Haha, no doubt. I don't like sharing figures like that anyways.

I will say this, they wanted me to open a precious metal IRA, and I said no thanks. If I purchase them directly it's not a problem. No need to get the Irish Republican Army involved, lol.

Ahh that mythic "class war". It's not a war, there is no group of rich white dudes (cause womyn and ethnic minorities don't ever do anything evil) siting in a room with red smoking jackets on plotting on how to keep the poor down. Makes for a great rallying cry for opportunists to manipulate and abuse weak impressionable minds, but has zero bearing on reality. There is just a huge chaotic mess as hundreds of thousands of entities each seeking maximum benefit for themselves. Those who aren't capable of competing end up at the bottom, those that are successful pass on their success to their children.

Now I know the progressive's are about to cry out "generational wealth!" as though your parents advantaging their children is wrong. Wealth is generation because one of our primary drives as humans is to ensure our children have it better then we did so we pass on not just our accumulated wealth but also our genetics. A parent who made a successful business will most likely pass on the traits required to do so to their children, those children will pass them on to their children until the gene pool eventually runs thin or blossoms. This is another big reason why the wealthy guarded their gene-pool via arranged marriages for centuries. As such any complaining about generational wealth is nearly 100% by people who are incredibly jealous and lazy at realizing they have to put in the effort so that their children can do that instead of themselves.

Well, 'war' is a bit strong of a word.

The problem is that they want more and they don't care where they get it from.

First of, corporate personhood is a thing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_personhood
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_National_Bank_of_Boston_v._Bellotti

Quote:
First National Bank of Boston v. Bellotti, 435 U.S. 765 (1978), is a US constitutional law case. The United States Supreme Court held that corporations have a First Amendment right to make contributions to ballot initiative campaigns

1978. Let's see what else happened around that time.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/73/US_productivity_and_real_wages.jpg
(Google us productivity wages, there are a lot of other matching charts)

That's strange. If we're all being more productive, doesn't that mean we make the corporations more money? Where did that money go?

Oh, found it.
http://www.motherjones.com/files/images/change-since-1979-600.gif
(Again, just google 'us average rich wages by year', you'll find a bunch of matching charts)

Even if we've become more automatic as a society, this still means we are making money money for the corporations but we're not being compensate for it.

So basically, every since corporations were allowed to pour money into politics, things have been getting better and better for them, and stagnated or worst for the rest of us. There's a reason why they've fully recovered from the recession and the rest of us haven't.

Of course, they have help. By that, I mean stupid, stupid people like yourself. Just think about how you're now conditioned to knee-jerk towards protecting and defending the rich in every story. If someone's rich? Let's wait for more details. If someone's poor? That person is definitely guilty.

Then there's the issue of global warming, science denying at its finest. What's it matter if 97 or 96 or 98% of climatologist believe that AGW is happening, you still can't care, right. You personally gain absolutely nothing by denying global warming. The only ones who gain from you denying it are rich corporations who don't want to regulate their pollution. And yet you do so anyways, against your own interest, and passionately mind you. It's called conditioning because you're too stupid to realize you've fallen for propaganda.

You're probably not going to read this, but for everyone else, have a quick read
http://www.thenation.com/article/179034/whats-really-behind-koch-attacks-democrats#

No, establishment republicans don't really care about Obamacare. Gentle reminder that it was their plan to begin with and there were no major complains when Romney implemented it. It's just being used as a tool of division, because they literally have nothing going for them because the current republican party is nothing but a giant scam to convince you that government is evil and must be drowned in a bath tube, and you're just too stupid that you've bought into it.

If you can't tell, I don't think you're very bright. You're literally the dumbest person on this forum and you've demonstrated that to us very well and very often.

Say, can you tell us again who the OWS folks were protesting against again?

Yeah, nobody that comes to this site pays that much in taxes just in Federal. Nor do I feel bad for those who do, as they're the ones helping wage the war.
I do, I paid just under 73% of my wages in taxes last year. And you know I do.
This seems rather dubious, unless most of your income comes from something other than wages. Which, if that is the case, makes it a rather irrelevant argument.

Are you saying that you pay 73% of your gross income in taxes? Was there anything special about that year, which would make it stand apart (large purchases, etc)?

That number is setting off warning bells.
Just under 73% of my wages.

Not gross, nor taxable income.

If I used taxable income alone, I paid just a little over 34% in federal. AGI, ~30%

Add on various state taxes (I get taxed in several states and cities because of where my investments are in), also add in payroll taxes, which everyone pays into, and add property taxes (Texas property taxes are one of the highest in the nation, mainly because we don't have an income tax) and sales taxes, and then you will see that it is very easy to pay that high in taxes total.

What sucks most about investment taxes is, I'm getting taxed on money that has already been taxed before (mostly). Especially if it comes from a "C" corporation stock (the corporation pays corporate taxes and I pay dividend investment taxes with it).

I'm even more confused than before. You stated you paid 73% of your wages in taxes. What exactly do you do that your gross income is so different than your actual wage? Wait tables or bartend? If so, that figure is still complete B.S.

The red flag is you're asserting an astronomical figure that doesn't seem reasonable to anyone in this thread. Your recent post which I'm quoting seems to be a half-assed backpedal out of your original assertion.

Did you pay 73% in taxes of your wages or not? Your current position makes no sense, no matter which way you spin it. Wtf do you do that you're paying 73% of your wages in taxes?

Apparently, nobody is allowed income outside their W-2, as you so think.

Most of my income comes from Schedules D and E, meaning investment and passive income. While both are taxed differently, they are still reported as part of my total income. It really isn't hard, and if you even looked at page 1 of Form 1040, you would see that there are more lines than what you would use for "wages."

Quote:

What backpedal? I said I pay 73% of my wages in taxes. Jet's argument was paying 60% of your "wages" (he said salary, but it is the same thing) in taxes and receiving full benefit of government control of your life vs. 30% of your "wages" in taxes and engaging in class warfare, which I kindly countered that people are paying 60% of their "wages" and still have the negative connotations he is implying. I even went beyond that and mentioned the % of taxes I paid from my wage income (that is to say, my salary) which is what he was talking about.

It's called using an example that is the exact same as the other person's example. If he said "taxable income" or "gross income" then I would have countered with a different point. But he did not.

Quote:

I really, honestly, cannot believe that you are that dense to think that you can only earn money from a job, and not from anything else.

There are more ways to earn money than doing labor or providing services. Most of it takes money to do so, but some of it can come from reinvesting your own worth (non-monetary) into an endeavor.

If you still don't believe me, then there is no hope for you and you will never grow beyond your own shortsightedness. And I think that is where most of our problems with today's society truly stems from.

Okay, so correct me if I'm misunderstanding. Your wages are not being taxed at a 73% rate, but rather the amount of taxes you pay total ends up equaling 73% of your wages.

That is correct.

That is my total tax burden for 2013. I keep track of this for personal reasons (mainly to determine how much withholdings I should make on my wages to prevent me from having to make quarterly payments). But my federal tax rate is only 34% of all income.
