I hope some one can help,
I get past the character selection screen and into the game, 10 seconds later POL crashes and this is happening everytime I log in, if I log in without windower I am fine.
I have done a file check and no errors found, I re installed windower and this has not solved the problem.
Any one know what I need to do?

Might be Spellcast if you have it enabled? It's no longer supported!
Try disabling all plugins and see if it still crashes. It has been reported by one other user, but we were never able to figure out what it was. If it works for you without any plugins start enabling them one by one and see which one causes the crash.
Turned off spellcast in plug in menu and that isn't stopping it
OK I have nothing turned on in the plug in or addon section and I still crash 10 seconds after logging in past character selection screen
edit - some one told me to go into my ffxi folder in USER and delete any fie that I 0kb but I found none in there 0kb I am on win 8.0 if that has any relevance Still not working any one have any thoughts on what can help?

I don't crash in the character selection screen nor do I get a white or black screen while plug in loads. I crash once im in game and ***like my inv ls and stuff starts to load in and POL then crashes. I have logged in non windower and moved my character to mog house and re tried using windower and its still crashing at exactly the same point. Maybe il try getting 8.1 windows version I dunno Oh, if you're crashing without Windower too then you need to do a file check. If file check doesn't work, you need to reinstall FFXI.
No I am fine without windower. I have logged in without it moved around and I am fine. It is only happening with windower being used
So yeah, this is the same as the other report. No idea what's causing it I'm afraid. Can you try to create a crash dump using this Hook, with the same method I told you in the PM? Otherwise there's not much I can do.
Well I uninstalled POL and re-installed it and now I am getting a launcher failure when trying to run it through windower... This aint my day... lol
OK just to update everyone ive had a shitty day but..
I uninstalled pol and downloaded the wrong one.. uninstalled that.. and reinstalled eu one. Thus far on relaunching windower I have not crashed. I'm sorry for not being able to specify exactly what went wrong but it must have been POL somewhere. I re installed windower after reinstalling POL too just so people know.

[45 days between previous and next post]Ive done almost everything possible and to no avail. What went wrong was I was doing the kahmir Drifts quest and the screen froze on a black screen. So i closed the game an loaded the POl version then got the direct3D error. I changed the resolution/did a full reinstall/ and neither or these have worked. I even updated my drivers. Any other suggestions from people that have fixed this similar problem?
If you're getting a D3D error with vanilla then you have something else going wrong, most likely not game related, run your dxdiag and see what's up.
Ran it and it said that nothing is wrong. Tried to redownload from the site, and it said my version is up to date so no DL is necessary -_-

But now I have another issue. If I open anything else up, say MyP or another instance of windower for that matter. My open instance crashes. Pretty much if I open anything up it crashes except IE and notepad++. Any idea why that is? Im also on windows 8. |
