More evidence for fewer gun regulations

Conceal/Carry permits surge, and crime takes a spiral..

I'd suggest being wary regarding possible confirmation bias or causality errors, but on the surface it's hard to argue.

I know I'd probably have a CCP if I lived in Chicago...

Looks like the shooter was depressed and wanted a grand exit out of life.

No deaths reported so far, except for hers.

It's good there were no additional deaths.

Would be better still if we could get a handle on psychological well-being in this country.

I theorize that if we did so, you'd see a remarkable trend of healthier physicall well-being too.

I think the biggest issue is self-diagnosis.

There isn't enough information or awareness out there to get people to see professional help on their own. It is usually through others (intervention) or by courts.

It's not something to discuss at length here, I suppose. But there's no single "biggest issue" in this discussion.

"Woefully inadequate" is the only way to describe society's approach to, feelings for, and treatment of psychological disorders.

Here's your Kremlin biased news of the day:

Quote:
An active on-site shooter has been reported at Fort Lee Army base in Virgina, forcing it into lockdown and leading the base to enact active shooter protocols.

“Active shooter incident reported at CASCOM HQ, Bldg. 5020. All personnel enact active shooter protocols immediately. Post on lockdown,” the Army base tweeted.

DETAILS TO FOLLOW
Active shooter at Virginia's Fort Lee, military base on lock down
Details:

Quote:
A Pentagon spokeswoman announced shortly after the incident that the shooter did not injure anyone. However, she was not immediately certain of the status of the shooter, reported AP. It later emerged that the shooting was instigated by a female soldier, and she had suffered injuries after turning the gun on herself.

The Sergeant had 14 years experience and had served in Iraq. She reportedly barricaded herself in her office and shot herself after conversations with soldiers, after which she was flown to hospital.

As I said. A cultural shift is needed in this country in the way we approach psychological symptoms and care. While I'm assuming you're just looking for a reason to post Ren & Stimpy, it is still indicative of the way many people view the issue.

Clinical Depression isn't "just being sad".

Likewise, appropriately treated depression doesn't just turn someone into a happy happy smiling go-getter every day.

Are you a Fallout 3 person?

Could always post a video of "Civilization (Bingo, Bango, Bongo)", or "Butcher Pete".

In fact, I've put myself at grave risk for an earworm infection just by naming them.

I find it hard to take anything in that article seriously as the first two paragraphs in the article are a blatantly incorrect retelling of that incident. I can only guess that the guy writing the article is trying to spin this to suit his argument but yeah...

Eh. It's sort of an FPS. Lots and lots of RP elements though.

Fallout 3 isn't an FPS really. It's hard to explain to people who just watch it. It doesn't feel like an FPS at all.

Seems to be a new trend in FPS alternatives, actually. As much as I think Ken Levine is a blowhard, the Bioshock franchise changed the rules for anything that isn't a AAA shooter like the CoD or Battlefield.

I don't think Bioshock changed anything, it told a good story, and that was about it.

It gave people a new standard by which to judge the atmosphere and environment in gaming, and more depth by which to judge FPS beyond "get new gun/power, kill in new and interesting ways".

It took many elements that had existed before, but never with the same amount of polish or poise, and never all in one place.

I can't overstate my love of the game.
