Standard politician nonsense. I'm sure you can find examples across the board.

Actually a little on the busy side today myself.
I'm just assuming, but I've got to think that there's legislation all over the place that people voted against, and then turn around and applied for on behalf of their constituents.
Frankly it's probably irresponsible not to do so. "Well, we didn't want this to go through at all, but if this is what I have to do to look out for the people who voted me here."
*shrug*
Whatever. *** politics anyhow.

It's supposed to used as a general attack on republicans.
Precisely. And he's categorically dismissing it because it's really no different from what goes on every day in Congress.
As I said, it's really sort of required of you to work within the confines of the laws that are passed once they're passed, whether you voted against them or not.
The weird part isn't that they're doing this; it's that they even considered not doing it.
It's their responsibility to do what they can for their constituents, whether they originally supported the bills or not. It's established policy now and while yes, there's always the possibility of it changing in the future, right now it's the law of the land and they should be carrying it out and getting the appropriate funds for their states.

Actually, I was surprised to see this on Reuters. Would have expected it on Salon or something else.

Someone should tell that to Christie.

I would have expected it in the blog section like the livestock article from yesterday. More so, actually. But ah well.

He's too busy getting personal funds and grafting from bridge contracts for his mafia connections.

No, I didn't dismiss this because this is what happens in Congress, I dismissed it because it's free money to the people of the state, and I rather have a state government take money from the federal government for the specified purposes associated with the money (in this case, paying for the healthcare costs of the less fortunate) than to have the state government fund a federal law.
Mind you, Texas probably could have weathered this without having to raise taxes, but it would have hurt them greatly. Certainly would have killed the contingency fund. Not every state is like Texas and have the ability to cover the idiotic mistakes of the federal government.

Arkansas Governor will not sign.
I like at the end where it says that Goergia's bill hit a roadblock when an anti-discrimination ammendment was successfuly added on.

Random Politics & Religion is for topics that aren't thread worthy on their own and do not have their own existing thread.
Rules and Guidelines
Forum Rules and P&R Section Guidelines still apply.
Satire is tolerated.
If your topic covers a story over 6 months old (Watergate, Benghazi, 2012 Election, etc.) post it here.
Discussions on racism, homophobia, transphobia, and the like are allowed, targeted insults based on these will not be tolerated.
Political debates get heated and are meant to be intense, if you take offense to being called or proven wrong, you don't belong here.
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen; if you prove you can't handle the criticism you bring upon yourself in this thread, you may be removed from it. You are responsible for what you post.
Along those lines, heat is fine, but sustained, clearly personal hostility is not okay. The personal attack rules still apply. Attack positions, not posters. Failure to adhere to this will result in your removal from the thread.
This thread is NOT the Flame Core.
These rules are subject to change and modification where and when needed.
Random Politics & Religion may be mained or demained depending on the activity within at a Moderator's discretion.
With that out of the way, let the debates begin!
