It really tied the room together.

Coincidentally, I truly love that there are things that can still tie all of us together, if only for a short time.

And one of those things is The Big Lebowski.

As long as Jet keeps his harshing vibe away from the thread, anyhow.

I was under the impression a lot of Americans wanted Iran to have nuclear weapons.

Quote:
Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers have adopted a joint statement after marathon talks in the Swiss city of Lausanne calling, among other things, for the removal of UNSC resolutions and sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

The statement was read out in a joint press conference in the Swiss city by the EU high representative, Federica Mogherini, and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Thursday.

The statement called for lifting of all multilateral European and unilateral US financial sanctions will be lifted without requiring Iran to suspend or stop nuclear activities.

Hey remember when the viewpoints of individuals regarding Nukes and nuclear energy could be conveniently categorized based on dichotomies only clear to me and then projected onto an entire fictional group of people I find I disagree with? What changed?

Ftfy

What changed indeed!

EDIT:Sometimes I feel like the whole Conservative VS Liberals is actually a professional sport to be likened to some inane football rivalry.

Nuclear weapons are a tricky subject upon which my thoughts change frequently.

On one hand, you don't want everyone to have them.

On the other, it's hard telling other people they can't have them when you're the only country that's ever actually aggressively used them on another country.

Frankly I'm never sure whether we'd be better off without them or not. Are they a ticking time bomb, or a check that keeps everyone playing nice because their use in this day and age is basically a war crime no matter how you look at it and would result in so much negative fallout (heh) that almost nothing can justify their use, at least by those who currently possess them?

I suggest we wait till it is "too late" . That is normally how the government works.

I really hope you're trying to be overwhelmingly rhetorical and not seriously unsure.

I mean the world as a whole. Not Iran having them or not.

I don't particularly want Iran to have them, but again, it feels pretty questionable to tell someone they can't develop what we have.

Nuclear weapons are only good when used. Helps keep the population size under control.

So does birth control, and lots of people don't seem to want to consider using that either.

Birth control only helps with future population growth and like you said lots of people don't seem to want that.

Whereas nuclear weapons takes care of both current populations and future ones and it doesn't matter who wants it when the time comes they'll get it.

If we hadn't used them in the way we did, someone else would have used them in a manner that is unpredictable. It's pretty hard to imagine a better track record than "one and done".
