A Question From An Old Player.

Hey everyone, I am an old player of ffxi who is kinda of thinking of playing again. I am really missing this game and the connection with my character that other games just don't have. My only issue is that I have been gone for so long I wouldn't know where to start. I have been gone for months but have played enough of seekers to get some of the important key items like climbing and others like that. I guess my question is, what is there to do in the game. Is having a linkshell important again? How do you gear up now and do you have to do it solo? I miss the group play the most. I think I already kinda know the answer to the group question but I figure I ask. I guess I just miss the good ol' days but I wouldn't mind playing if I had a goal and friends to play with :)!

I'm going to just give you an overview. The key points you can look up more thuroughly on BG. As far as gear. Get the KI to participate in wildskeeper rieves. Along the way, while ranking up in coalitions and getting sparks through records of eminence, you should get enough sparks/bayld to put together a pretty decent set of armor to do skirmish/delve with. The progression is very simple. With the help of trust magic you can do a lot of it solo. Right now is a good time to come back. A lot of hype for the WKR (wildskeeper reive) because of the new augments you can get from them.

If you do delve in Outrider/Wayfarer/ Or espial you need to be shot, that gear is beyond awful

If you are using that stuff you need to be working on 109 AF/Relic Chapter BCNMs, no one should be wearing the RoE gear and think its ok to do real endgame.

Perhaps. But you can do VE/E AAs, skirmish, and SCNMs to start getting yourself upgraded a bit.

and thats fine, but what i really mean is: No one should Aim to be in sparks gear as their endgame set.

It shouldn't be your only set, but it can be useful. Take COR/support, for example. Full Wayfarer set is our best refresh idle set we can get. If you're not shooting or doing other things, you should be shot for not getting 3 extra mp a tick while idle and out of danger. Having the mindset '119 or bust' will just gimp you.
