Anyone with a pet DT set to share not using Nyame?

Hey BST Bro's
ItemSet 391276
Was chatting with a friend tonight about bst idle dt stuff for leech shenanigans in odyssey, this is the best I could come up with, without nyame path D. Pretty sure I didn't miss anything but please let me know if I did.
Assuming R25 Path C mainhand, Pet DT+4 Dusk Aug on feet, and 10 mdt Aug on back, I belive it comes out to 87/87.5 mdt, 77pdt for pet, and over 50 on master, without adoulin ring 83/87.5, 73/87.5.
Sucks that without nyame path D there's not a full cap dt set, but kinda awesome how close we can get.

Hello, I am a new to endgame player
Can someone please tell me, is Emicho Haubert +1 the same MAB as Udug?
Emicho Haubert +1 is +35 but path D gives +20 pet INT
Udug is +45
I read online 2 INT is 1 MAB?

While Pet:INT can play a small role in damage for some Ready moves, its impact is less pronounced compared to typical Black Magic.
Here's the list of magical Ready moves with an indicator for whether or not it includes a dINT component:
Ready | Charge
Cost | dINT
Term |
Bubble Shower | 1 | |
Venom | 1 | |
Fireball | 1 | |
Dust Cloud | 1 | |
Snow Cloud | 1 | |
Cursed Sphere | 1 | |
Acid Spray | 1 | ✓ |
Molting Plumage | 1 | ✓ |
Acid Mist | 2 | |
Purulent Ooze | 2 | ✓ |
Stink Bomb | 2 | ✓ |
Nectarous Deluge | 2 | ✓ |
Charged Whisker | 2 | ✓ |
Gloom Spray | 2 | ✓ |
Venom Shower | 2 | ✓ |
Foul Waters | 2 | ✓ |
Pestilent Plume | 2 | ✓ |
Dark Spore | 3 | |
Silence Gas | 3 | |
Nepenthic Plunge | 3 | ✓ |
Corrosive Ooze | 3 | ✓ |
|
Quick test against Wild Rabbits with the only difference being the body armor equipped:
Emicho Haubert +1 still has some use, but Udug Jacket will win for damage dealt (and consistency on high level content from higher Magic Accuracy).

Can someone clarify to me how "Sic and Ready ability delay -" works? Cause reading it as it is, sounds like -10s per charge if i equip both Desultor Tassets & Chatrmer's Merlin when using Ready?
Looks a bit OP

That's what it does. Pretty straight forward. It's not remotely OP though. It's certainly nice.
Though it caps at 10 seconds
(-20, if that wasn't clear)

Oh ok, no you're right it's not OP, but it has its uses i guess.
Maybe with Patrice's digest when it's tanking and Peter's wild carrot?

In 2025, a BST with at least 100JP will only need a single piece of Ready recast reduction gear to hit the minimum 10 second delay per charge. And that single piece should be Gleti's Breeches, which have made Desultor Tassets obsolete in leg slot (same -5sec reduction on both, but Gleti also have Pet:Acc/Macc/Racc+50 and much better master defensive stats).
The following stack with any Ready recast gear:
* BST gets a -5 second reduction as the 100JP gift
* Additional -10 second reduction from 5/5 Sic Recast merits (-2 sec reduction in Sic/Ready timer per merit), which is pretty much a mandatory choice for Group 1 merits for any reasonable BST.
Charmer's Merlin is also outdated and unnecessary due to the above.
Probably worth noting that while it doesn't affect recast in any way, the other piece of non-weapon gear that directly impacts the Ready ability is Empy hands (Pet: TP Bonus on Ready moves), so you'd definitely want them in a Ready set too.
And nah, it's in no way OP. The original ready timer was implemented in an era when the game was FAR slower. In modern FFXI, every other DD is gaining TP much faster, SMN is getting BP reduction lower and lower, etc. - So, BSTs getting to use ready moves faster was just a way to keep some sort of parity with other jobs. Ready also still has limitations for BST in that Ready moves still rely on multiple charges so anything requiring 2-3 charges can't be spammed too much (without Unleash), and the BST hampers their own damage potential with the JA delay from using Ready.

You can certainly keep an off-party (like in dynamis without a real healer) healed as /DNC using Waltzes and Peter throwing out Wild Carrots. The problem is you're pretty much stuck in that role of "support" since Peter has no other utility besides his healing spell. Patrice is just an SDT tank/damage sponge when whatever you're fighting doesn't use magic (I don't even know which mobs don't have magical moves anymore) and you can continually Snarl hate back onto her. Otherwise, she lacks any other real utility as well. Which is fine if that's what you want to do, but that's always been the problem with BST IMO, the pets are one trick ponies, for lack of a better phrase.
BST is just a bag of "cool" tricks that may work as one-offs here and there, but the use cases are so rare and infrequent that they have very little practical advantage to most of them. It's not an overstatement to just say you could roll to 99% of things with Generous Arthur and be totally fine.

Before i open a ticket on the official forum and be disappointed, is it normal for a charmed pet to "uncharm" upon calling a mount?
Lakshmi.Buukki
By Lakshmi.Buukki 2025-04-11 18:21:15
That probably shouldn't happen, but nothing about that seems like a bug per se. Maybe try using a costume after calling a mount and see if the pet also uncharms. Or enter a unity NM and see if you keep the pet. Because it feels like they coded charm pets as "not really yours" and the moment your status changes to something else, you lose the pet. Just a guess though

uhmm if you have a 5% dt offhand and 5% dt cape, they you have both pdt and mdt at 87% with that set. (9%from stout servant before nukumi legs)
HOWEVER
I would highly recommend using the ped pdt 10% cape and using the pet level+ stuff in there instead.
ItemSet 399078
This does knock you down to only 82% pdt and 72% mdt on pet.
BUT you get 4~5 levels depending on your Spalirisos and that is a TON Of Meva, def, and eva. The Meva making it worthwhile.
I think you have... around 30 Meva per level (starts around 25 per level and ends up around 38, iirc), but it gets more the more levels you get so... 130~160 Meva on the pet is rather significant. compared to 15 mdt. Mdt gets less impressive when above 50%
Also, you don't really need anything special in those remaining slots for the master. You get 12% pdt from gleti hands/feet, and pangu + Nukumi legs gets you 38% dt. so shell 1 gets you to 49% and shell 2+ gets you capped mdt on master.

Note: Original set was put together for odyssey where pet is going to take incidental magic damage primarily and rarely if ever receive physical damage (also no sub for dw hence the 10 mdt cape). Hitting 87 on both is pretty awesome though, along with the extra levels from nukumi earring and gleti's boots(for the meva vs 5% dt). Miss you guys, hope you're all well.

Do we have a condensed list of V25 Odyssey NMs where Ooze works with BST alone and no additional requirements?
I always assumed it worked on all T1s but I never tried.
What about T2s? I know it does NOT work on Henwen.
As for the T3+ it works for Bumba and Kalunga just fine.
On Ngai if you can proc Aura (which pretty much means it doesn't work, really :p)
On Mboze you need additional help for Ooze to land.
Does NOT work on Ongo.
No clue about Xevioso and Arebati.

This would imply that charmed pets have a conditional status, and the moment the player enters any instance that changes that (unm, mount, etc) the pet is removed. Seems intentional

Alternatively then: the Gleti and Nyame base armor has Pet: Magic Accuracy+50 on each piece.
Gleti's Armor:
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50 (& Pet:Lvl+1)
Nyame Armor:
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50
 Pet: Magic Accuracy+50

I just tried this set against Arebati v25, using my ML40 BST. No luck. :(
I could not land P. Ooze at all. Tried with Familiar, Familiar+Unleash, nothing.
Then again with Rolan. Daifuku, still nothing.
Am I missing something obvious? Or have made a mistake somewhere?

The only T3/T4s that you can Ooze solo easily without a RUN using Rayke are Kalunga and Bumba.
All the others either need a RUN with Rayke or you need to Ooze during the Fetter proc window where their elemental resistance is lowered.
PS: Remember that Tandem Strike also boosts your pet's M.Acc so it's worth engaging with your pet and then Ooze for a nice +50 M.Acc.
By Felgarr 2025-04-21 18:33:56
Thanks. Yeah, tandem strike wasn't helping either. I'll have to bring a RUN.
Edit: Thanks Nalfey. RUN, Unda x3 + Rayke, did in fact work.
