Whether Hale-Bopp has a "companion" or not is irrelevant from our perspective. However, its arrival is joyously very significant to us at "Heaven's Gate." The joy is that our Older Member in the Evolutionary Level Above Human (the "Kingdom of Heaven") has made it clear to us that Hale-Bopp's approach is the "marker" we've been waiting for -- the time for the arrival of the spacecraft from the Level Above Human to take us home to "Their World" -- in the literal Heavens. Our 22 years of classroom here on planet Earth is finally coming to conclusion -- "graduation" from the Human Evolutionary Level. We are happily prepared to leave "this world" and go with Ti's crew.

I would ask if you're an idiot, but that's like asking the ocean if it's wet. The conclusion you drew from my stating that we've added more immunizations to the list in the THIRTY years since I was a toddler is so mind-bogglingly errant that I can't fathom how you reached it.

I said nothing of the sort. I said that we can't vaccinate people born in the 80s for HPV because we're already infected. And a lot of us will develop HPV-caused cancers as a result. Just be happy that we have effective treatments for cancer, I suppose, since we can't wind back the clock and immunize our infant selves with a vaccine that didn't yet exist.

So you're using argumentum ab auctitorae. Well, the obvious answer goes like this: your pediatrician is wrong and his medical training doesn't make him infallible. I hope his malpractice insurance is paid up, because if one of your kids acquires a disease he recommended not vaccinating against, I'm sure you'll hire a lawyer and show up with a large sack marked with a $ sign.

The timing of certain immunizations is the only leg you have to stand on. The likelihood of a toddler contracting hepatitis is low (not non-existent, but quite low). The Hep vaccines are administered at early ages as a matter of simplicity. The handful of vaccines I had to get as an older child, I fought tooth and nail, even though they were being administered by someone I trust implicitly and in the comfort of my own home. 10-year-olds don't make well-informed decisions about needles, which goes a long way to explaining why anti-vax people seem like children.

Edit: Hell, for that matter, I got a tetanus booster after being in a bike accident almost 7 years ago and the doctor had to roll his eyes at me balking about it. It's going to be time to get a new booster soon, too, and I can't wait for my irrational behavior to surface once again.

As for the part I bolded, every immunization I listed above is the "highly recommended" one. For certain at-risk populations, several of those immunizations are administered a couple extra times. But literally every single one has been highly recommended. So which ones have you decided your kids don't need and what's the scientific basis for your decision?
