I was able to clear the fight after second S/L Set up was
Rinoa | Thundaja/Blizzaja | Devotion
Bartz | Thundara Strike/Magic Break | Knight's Charge
Ramza | Magic Lure/Banishing Strike | Dr. Mog's Teachings
Balthier | Poison Shell/Thundara Strike | Attunement II
Y'shola | Curaja/Shellga | Mako Might
RW | Divine Guardian
I had weapon synergy on Rinoa, Bartz, and Balthier

I also think Cagnazzo was harder than average due to his abrupt change of weaknesses and speed. Unless the entire party is hasted and with at least 3 chars with thunder damage, its hard to avoid tsunami, even more if he uses haste on himself. Poison debuff is good option but sucks having to use it when my hands are already full with buffs, debuffs, ice and thunder abilities.
Anyway, the MVP in this fight is definitively Grand Cross status effect. Luckly I got Exdeath relic so I could keep it fulltime but 2 uses are plenty for the entire fight so Celes/Exdeath RW are excelent options: it prevent the stop counter and triple waterga spells, leaving just the tsunami and AoE waterga as damage output.
I actually Mastered it on the first try, but there was definitely some luck involved. I had Grand Cross and Runic Blade at my disposal which saved me a lot of trouble. Still, the water AOE was doing hefty damage to my other characters, and I only survived with a full party due to Aerith's reraise SSB saving my butt on a couple occasions.
I think people are underestimating the ninjas for this fight, though. I had Ramza with the ninja thunder spell and was doing upwards of 5k damage. The benefit to these spells is that they're quick to cast, which helps if Cagnazzo catches you off-guard with the charge-up on Tsunami.
By Pantafernando 2016-05-18 20:38:13
If going without Grand Cross, i guess ninjas spells are good enough but i think spellblades+shout are the strongest option for damage aside old and good Stormlance Grimoire. Funny thing that despite SLG being 4 hits, still its considered a single attack.
But without Grand Cross its relying on luck against stop counter, what sucks.

I actually just gave Ramza the ninja ability as an insurance policy since the Tsunami charge time is very unforgiving. The fact that it actually did good damage was a bonus that I did not expect. My overall damage output was admittedly low, though. Poison and the dual magic absorbs on Celes and Exdeath were the only reasons I managed to pull off a kill before abilities ran out.

I just couldn't give up and it paid off, championed with 2 medals lost (action and damage taken) and lots of luck.

Setup I could have done it much smoother if I had 2 synergy swords.

Dont forget Carby negates half the fight's RNG, with reflecting the triple watera and stop. The only dmg you'll be taking will be the waterga and tsunami which dont really happen all that often.
I pretty much just went in with shout + spellblades and destroyed him. The last quarter of health Bartz's ssb pretty much took care of that.
By Pantafernando 2016-05-19 20:51:53
If Cagnazzo was unpredictable, Bahamut is cut and dry.
At most, a dps race with all defensive and debuff tools available. Fight takes some time, if no strong SB is available, Aero Strike is the way to go.

I wish I knew of this earlier, but I think most of the modern fights limit the usefulness of this strat --- having all characters with full SB meters usually isn't enough to bring the heaviest bosses down (though it might work 95% of the time)
that said it's still a real boon if you don't get screwed in that first turn
In related news, I beat and mastered that *** Omega [U++] from the Golden Week coliseum
the drop is Omega's Gold Pendant (or something?) and increases a lot of status ailment resistances (which makes sense since he always starts the fight with *** Flash)

At least that trick works to make useless the RM Mako Might and Dr. Mog Teaching, so we can use better RM instead.

I didn't think of this, this is actually pretty great
most of my strats require both of those (for Shout and Selphie's BSSB or Stoneskin)

I'd take out that almost, I got hit twice by Levi and had no s/l on either fight, but Garuda bopped me hard a few times before I got mitigation up.

Maybe I just got lucky, not sure but all of his nukes and everything never hit me for much with full buffs (wall/tect/shell/breakdowns/agrias sb)
I had
Tyro (protectga/curaja) [SG/celebration] :Mogs teachings:
Ramza (Banishing/FB) [shout/stone] :Mako Might:
Agrias (aero strike (r4)/shellga) [ssb/sb] :Battleforged?:
Red (magic breakdown/defense breakdown) [SSB] :+20% dmg fist:
Locke (life siphon/TR) [SSB] :+20% dmg dagger:
rw HoTE
zero RS btw.

Im amazed myself how often ive been using Agrias lately, so i totally agree with her being so rated.
I rate the chars mostly because of their abilities ranks so i can bring all tools i need to a fight. And white magic 4* is invaluable imo, as i always bring just one healer, that uses curaja in one slot and the second one being protectga or shellga. So for ultimates normally im forced to bring the other as a RW. With Agrias i can bring both protectga, shellga and use th rw for other thing like Auron SSB, another layer of debuff or HotE/Basch SB.
Also, bosses that needed to be dispelled also favor Agrias and her knight 4*, Spellblade when i need to hit a weakness or just hit harder and finally icing the cake with her combat 4* and lifesiphon with her great SB, the AoE one for multiples enemies and the Cleansing Strike that reduces both attack and magic and have been trivializing every ultimate so far.
Definitively god tier, and broken if one can use all of her SB. Im almost happy for so many pulls i wasted to get Platinum Sword. At least it pimped my Agrias.

Greg more Ramza than Ramza and his beastly BSB isn't even out. Also can RD him to DRG 5* later on which gives him even more versatility.
Also I did Bahamut U+ before pulling on banner 2 so I also had mostly zero RS gear, just Refia's first thrower which I didn't even use. Going to refight him on Monday just to have fun with Tornado Strike.

And to think how low Cloud fell...
And I never use Terra in my party.
By Draylo 2016-05-21 15:59:13
I've been using Agrias/Ramza for like everything. I never really use Terra unless it's a FF6 event.

Celes/Sephiroth/Agrias/Ramza/Yshtola = my A-team. I switch Seph out for Terra on battles that require range or magic, she's still the best black mage and can bring her own Mental Breakdown. Dark mages will be more useful after the next event though since Memento Mori+Dark Zone lets them match a melee without having buffs or any outside support.

Started playing a few days ago under the suggestion from a linkshell mate. The game is definitely nostalgic, & I am having a blast. It's for iOS, and Android smartphones and tablets. Currently trying to complete these timed events.
Any one else loving the global release of this game? It's been out in Japan for some time. We finally get in on the goodies
