Yeah Mike Pence's activity in the early oughts is fairly shady.

"Fairly shady" is an incredible compliment when you look at who we have for presidential candidates.

Guilty. Rasmussen has him 44/37 over Clinton.

The wave is coming.

Is there any politician who has been around for a few decades who hasn't done shady stuff?

Not that shady stuff disqualfies republicans....

I'm sort of to the point where I find it amusing anyone can criticize Hillary without acknowledging Trump is every bit as crooked and terrible or visa versa.

At this point you either support Johnson, have lost hope, or you just hate the world and want to see it burn.

Not everyone in the final group realizes they're in it yet, but they are.

I'm generally in group two, trending toward the final.

*cracks a beer*

I'll get there before the night is through.

I can think of many more shady than Hillary.

LBJ and RMN to name two.

I'm trying to think of someone shadier than her today that isn't named Rick Scott, but am drawing a blank.

I'd say Walker is at least equally as shady but he's out of the Koch's good graces and his approval is plummeting. He might have to dial it back soon, but that's not going to erase the stuff he's already ("allegedly") done and let others take the fall for.

Yeah, I'm about in the same spot. At this point I'd just be happy to have at least one presidential pick in my lifetime where I can check their name at the ballot box and not feel guilty afterward. Or, better yet, a presidential election where I have to choose between the greater of two goods. I wouldn't expect the latter until the parties become what they were meant to be rather than the abominations they currently are, though.

Right now every presidential vote from me has been a middle finger to the opponent rather than a thumbs up to the person I voted for.

Never Trump is officially dead

Donald Trump Sidesteps Embarrassing Defeat at RNC

Quote:
CLEVELAND — Donald Trump received a major victory Thursday as delegates overwhelmingly opposed last-ditch efforts to derail his nomination.

In the wonky Rules Committee meeting ahead of the Republican National Convention next week, a whip team assembled by the Trump campaign worked closely with officials at the Republican National Convention to defeat anti-Trump delegates' efforts....
And more.

Why would you support a loser like Johnson ? He probably was even last to get picked in dodgeball !

Let's be honest.

I think in the end, an American populous that votes Trump into the Oval Office is basically a majority of society (or, at least, voters) saying "Yeah. I've got a history of schizophrenia, but I think I'll just go off my meds and see what happens!"

But I'm not sure how you 302 an entire country when it inevitably runs off chasing windmills with WMDs.

If you don't vote for Trump you might as well say you are a Canadian.

So pack your bags junior there is ice hockey and funny accents awaiting !

Ah, Washington Post. Your astounding bias never fails. So, Trump postpones his VP announcement in light of the attack in Nice, France. Can you imagine what would have been reported if he went through with it anyway? "Trump is self-centered!" "Trump is insensitive!" "Trump is trying to direct media attention away from a serious tragedy!"

So what is the Post saying now? "Trump is indecisive!" "Trump has lost control of the media!" "Trump is letting terrorists dictate U.S. events!" "Trump has squandered an opportunity to look resolute and steady!"

What they should be saying is, "We will criticize Trump no matter what he does!"

See, this is where I start to get annoyed both as an inactive journalist and a generally liberal person.

Trump has so much that can be attacked that is 100% true. Why spin things? The man is scum all on his own. This just discredits them.

From what I've seen he's unleashed at least a few really stupid quotes about what's going on in France already anyhow, did they really have to worry about his stupid VP choice?

Welp, Trump went ahead and made his announcement on Twitter. We'll see what they say now, lol.

Mike Pence is the choice, if anyone hadn't already figured that out.

Uh huh. Which is why I've said before that if you can't find one good thing to say about the opponent from the opposing party, you might want to take a step back because your bias is probably clouding your judgment.

Trump is dying in every demographic except for white men, so instead of adding diversity to his ticket, or choosing someone that can help him win a swing state, he narrows his choices down to Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, and Mike Pence, 3 old white guys that don't help him win any states or make up any ground in the demographics. If anything, it makes Indiana a closer race since Pence's popularity has plummeted in the last two years, and Evan Bayh, the state's most popular and most successful democrat has jumped into the senate race. Pence I guess is the "best" of the 3 bad finalists, so there is that.

Sure, Susana Martinez, governor of New Mexico, would have been a fine choice. She could have helped him win the Southwestern states and bring more Latino voters as well as female voters. Instead, Trump went to New Mexico, got up on stage and trashed her. Smart.
Kasich could have helped him win Ohio and Pennsylvania, and would have helped him work with Congress, but he just did not buy into Trump's antics. He chased away all of the potential good choices.

But hey, regardless of what happens, Indiana will get a new governor, so congrats to the Hoosiers!

Okay, decent choices, but both people that probably wouldn't have accepted the offer of VP due to burnt bridges.

Any of his competitors from the primaries were probably out from the get go. It was too contentious of a fight. Just like Bernie would never have been anything except a major last-ditch hail Mary for Clinton, and even if she needed that sort of reach out to progressives (and she probably doesn't, unfortunately, given all she pretty much has to do is go "okay, your other choice is Trump, so...", she'd probably go with Liz Warren for the sake of there being less conflict betwixt them.

Proof once again that the most virulent anti gays are really suppressed closet cases:

Yeah Mike. We always knew.

Oh... to the Log Cabin types. This doesn't mean that they will ever like you. But feel free to donate and vote, just stay in your closet like Mike.
