Trump getting elected President would be hilarious. Would send both the Democrat and Republican political machines into a panicked frenzy. Would be consecutive Presidential elections where the winners were not from the "good ole boys / girls club" like Bush / Clinton / ect. He isn't a career politician, doesn't owe his power base to non-elected hidden power brokers within his respective political party like most of the rest do. After all, if you want to get elected on a national level you need "favors" from people in order to have the right opportunities placed in front of their feet.
In spite of what people want to think, Senator Obama wasn't really part of that "good ole boys club" and hadn't had enough time to sell his soul. His election panicked everyone since Hillary was supposed to win the DNC's candidacy. If it happens again, everyone's gonna start questioning the importance and need for those same power brokers.
They trying to attack him and it's hilarious, he just laughs at them. You can tell the Republican power brokers have issued orders to their various entities to try to trash him and put him in a bad position.
That, by the way, is who Trump was talking to when he said he might run as Independent, and give the race to the Democrats, if the Republicans don't "treat him right". He wasn't talking about the Republican voters or the lower echelons of the Republican party. He was making a statement that if the Republican power brokers try to shut him out again that he would fund his own election campaign with the purpose being to hurt those same power brokers. That threat has forced them to grudgingly accept him into the race and not trying to shut him down or lock him out. And while he originally ran for easy publicity for his Brand Name (the title of this thread), I think he's since decided to go for broke and really piss off the Republican power brokers.
I wonder if the people in this thread realize that the elected officials aren't the real leaders of their respected parties, except maybe Hillary and Bush. Unelected power brokers are the real leaders, they set the platform, set the agenda, hand out positions and advantages to those who work to enact those agenda's and hand out disadvantages to those who don't.
If it happens again, everyone's gonna start questioning the importance and need for those same power brokers.
I'd like to think Sanders is in the same boat and a better option, but either way.
Good.
Yup. If the Dems go with Sanders, and the GOP with an establishment pick, it might be the one time in history I vote for a Democrat for president. Again, I don't think he'd be good, but I am all for throwing a wrench in the current political machine. It's also one of the only reasons I mostly keep my mouth shut about Trump. He says stupid stuff and might not be a good president either, but he's different and that's a plus in my book.
The best time to be on Facebook is when all your friends show their true colors around election time. They can't help themselves !
Oddly, while I hit "like" on a lot of things, I share surprisingly little anymore. Because it's not worth the headache; I'm not changing anyone's mind by bombarding them with propaganda.

I don't even know what to think anymore. I think the Dems are doubling down on how far left they're reaching for the sake of competition. I don't like anyone this round, Republican or Democrat.

US TV network NBC is cutting ties with Donald Trump over "recent derogatory statements" that the veteran businessman made about immigrants.
NBC said the company would now not be airing the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants that are co-owned by Mr Trump.
Responding to the announcement, Mr Trump said he would consider suing NBC.
Earlier this month, he accused Mexicans of adding drugs and crime to the US as he announced he was seeking the Republican presidential nomination.
"They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists, and some I assume are good people, but I speak to border guards, and they tell us what we are getting," he said in his speech on 16 June.
He also pledged to build a "great wall" on the US border with Mexico and insisted it would be paid for by Mexicans.
He later insisted he was criticising US lawmakers, not Mexican people.
