Eh, all of 11's early life was extremely mishandled... not to mention its super high learning curve and the long time stagnation at level 75 content with side grades for miles.
Though that said being among the few MMO's that doesn't lock your gear in combat made side grades actually viable vs just plain silly (that is side grades would have been shitty as hell if we only were allowed to have 1 gear set while fighting)
I don't get all the blind rage towards 14 or WoW for that matter, other than hipster too main stream mentality, i quit 11 due to my low man endgame falling apart and that most of my long time in game friends had long since moved on. For about a year I didn't play a single MMO and discovered i had way too much free time, gave WoW a chance during MoP was pretty fun, only bad thing i could say about it was 1. was too easy, 2. people suck at mechanics for progressive raiding (my raid group was... well they were cool people?)
Got a bit sick of wiping to the same bosses 5-10x times every week and eventually moved on to 14, which has some of the best parts of 11 and wow if you ask me.
