I wonder which Frenchman will use his hand to score a goal against the Irish...

Is that true? My information is that single yellow cards get canceled after the quarter finals. So that there is no team weakened for the final.
But even if your info is true, if a player gets the second one in the 1/8 finals he is still not allowed to play in quarters.

One of the commentators mentioned that an Italian defender had a yellow card from a previous game so he didn't want to pick up a second and miss the next game. Going by that alone means cards aren't resent after the group stages.

The one was Bonucci(there was a lot of talk about him being on the field at all today).

I repeat, only single yellow cards get canceled.
Even if the canceling would happen after the group stage, if a player gets the second one in the last group match he will still miss the next game.

Yellow cards are removed after the the quarters final, because they didn't want players to miss the final.

But Switzerland adopted various EU law provisions and Euro is widely accepted! Not to mention their involvement in the Schengen zone.

On a semi related note, if both Irelands reach the semi: Will they declare the border void and declare themselves as one and try to progress automatically to the final?

(Wales will have to do the game, easy counters shouldn't happen. Both will play physically. I expect a few free-kicks and one will be in. When NI opens up to get a draw, they'll get the second one!)

Croatia 2:1 Portugal
(Croatia has been the better team so far, while Portugal got lucky.
Sooner or later their quality will produce at least one goal though. Doubt Croatia will do more than two though. They will focus too much on defense when it goes towards the end.)
