I'm pretty salty that my elementary school canned Russian two years into it because of funding issues.

I could be a fluent Russian speaker right now.

I mean, if it was easier for Seha, it's not my place to say it wasn't.

But from an anecdotal standpoint, I've spoken with many multi-lingual folks that consider English trickier than most.

Maybe that's a better way to put it, really. Spoken English is easy enough to pick up, but there are many different specific instances where you can get tripped up by a quirk you didn't realize existed.

So maybe we shouldn't be saying it's "more difficult," but that it's "trickier."

The pretense I deny it with is the overwhelming majority of my foreign-born coworkers who talk about how hard English is. You're trying to turn your subjective opinion into objective fact. It's not. It may not be the absolute hardest language to learn for most people, but English is strange in a lot of ways with pronunciation, spelling, sentence structure, conjugation, and insanely large vocabulary that integrates from a wide variety of languages. So you think still think it's totes easy? Congratufrickinlations.

I'm more worried about them being harassed and assaulted, personally.

I would love to know a Cyrillic-alphabet language just because I think it's a great looking alphabet. Arabic, too.

It's a lot easier to learn basic English though with all the movies, tv series, music, games etc these days, especially at a younger age.

Not all Mexicans are illegal immigrants, and not all illegal immigrants are Mexican (or even Latin in origin).

Mexicans are the easy target because of our border to the south and the stereotyping people make on immigrants (legal or not).

It's the same thing when people take Trump's comments about rapists/murderers coming from south the border and skew it to say that Trump said all Mexicans are rapists/murderers.

Prove otherwise then.

I was bringing my knowledge in linguistics, you counter with numbers, well big deal cause I've got even bigger numbers!

But the law does dictate how business owners are allowed to or not allowed to discriminate their customer base. If a business does discriminate based on race then they become the criminals.

However, because this *** is being pushed hard from Trump, it will probably get the blind eye. Racists will spout some nonsense about how their "religious freedom" to not serve Mexicans or Muslims are being infringed upon, and idiot masses will rush to aid them.

It isn't about anyone's FEELINGS, it is about the rights of legal citizens. Trust me I don't give a ***about FEELINGS.

However, I served my 5 years in the military to protect the rights of US citizens, and that includes those who are black, of a Mexican heritage, of a Muslim faith, AND those who are struggling to enter the country. Luckily for you I also served to protect the rights of bigots, idiots, racists, and morons who can't understand the concepts of basic human rights.
