I've been trying to find reliable information on subcraft and HQ tiers, but haven't been able to. anyone have any idea how it works?
As far as I know, you need 10 levels above the synth cap to gain T1. Which means a synth like cursed cuirass, you need 119 GS and 80 Alchemy. How would you go about getting a sub up that high?

Cursed Cuirass is 98 Goldsmith and 59~ Alchemy (If you look at the BG NQ list 59 but HQ list 54).

But generally its accepted that for T1(~10%) HQ you need 11 over synth skill (right at the point you stop skilling up on it now).

T2(~25%) you need 31 above the synth skill.

If you mean the cursed cuirass to bewitched/voodoo synth you generally don't get to T1 the non cursed -1 synth.

The only way to get beyond 70 (77 with adv support+gear) on a sub is to make the stall for the sub and us at the cost of main synth.

11 lvls over like guy above said but its 6.25 (1/16) for T1 and all the gear and food are multiplicative not additive with it sadly.

11 levels above the skill requirement of the synth. to hit T1 HQ rate.
98+11 = 109
59+11 = 70

Synth cap is the level listed of the synth, example 98, in this case. SE a few years ago let you start skilling past the cap for another 11 levels. You just get less and less skill ups on the item past its cap. I could see how a newer synth-er could confuse this like you did.

wooow, so I've been aiming 10 above what I needed to for my whole crafting career... well that's a lot of time wasted getting synth support lmao.
