I've always wondered if recycling really makes up for the energy used to recycle. Or the energy it takes to recycle make recycling basically pointless ?

Pretty sure this is already happening with excuses and arguments here in P&R.

It's true. I pretty much only really have 100 posts.

I used to go to sites like this and not post. But you never feel apart of the community (yea I know a community). It is why when I go on Facebook and not post. I have little to no urge to use it.

Most of the time the process of recycling consumes more energy and resources then it would otherwise save, except in the case of Aluminum because of how energy intensive it is to process and how easy it is to melt and reform. Paper, Glass and especially Plastic are expensive to recycle.

Oh the irony.....

I was trying to be rational, no need to be insulting.
"*** science, I believe what I want!" is rational?
Your understanding of the issue is cursory.

1) Our influence over the warming has thus far been largely negligible. If not negligible, then completely indistinguishable from natural and cyclical trends.

2) We don't really understand enough about past climate trends to suggest with any certainty that this is current warming trend is abrupt or abnormal.

3) The warming trend is so far and has been previously beneficial to humanity.

4) One cannot separate the taint of politics from this issue. Scientists involved in the process have falsified findings to suit their own POLITICAL objectives.

Dumping money into such things like the Paris climate accord which by their own measure and prediction wouldn't make any difference beyond a margin of error, is just crazy. It's buying a flea circus, it's buying the shower curtain rings with helium.

Referring to climate change and the science behind it in the context of a belief system is the opposite of rational. Don't try to equate actual knowledge with whatever made up ***you confuse for reality.

Who cares? The white guilt it unleashes is worth any cost.

I guess you can't blame nausi for making things up on a constant basis, he is just following Trump's example. I mean that speech today, 1 million private sector jobs? Lie. Pittsburgh? Over 80% Clinton. The Manila heist? Not a terrorist attack. It seems like he just says whatever pops into his little brain.

1.4 billion cows (the rough current population) can output the amount of carbon emissions a volcano can in just under two years, assuming they only fart once a day.

He is in a much better position and has a more realistic policy plan to achieve this goal than Obama ever had. Mostly because Obama's job plan is exploding government. Tell us again how public sector jobs are really private sector jobs?

You didn't build that.

Pittsburgh? Over 80% Clinton.
Trump said he is the representative of the people in Pittsburgh, not Paris. Which, you know, the PotUS is, regardless on the election results. They could have gone 99.9% Clinton and .1% Trump and Trump would still be the representative of Pittsburgh in the eyes of the world.

I'm pretty sure that volcanoes erupt more than once a year (Calling it now, Vic will deny the source because it doesn't come from HuffPost!). Isn't the real problem earth-made carbon? Shouldn't we regulate the number of volcano eruptions that occur?

Isn't that the endgame of liberal "scientists" out there?

The point is to change what's possible to change. Anyways, it's a stupid argument. volcanoes produce on average 200 million tons of CO2 per year, humans over 24 billion tons per year.

If you are suggesting we kill all humans I agree.

And yet, somehow, it's the priority of some lawmakers in California to destroy one of the few industries that doesn't rely on fakeness that they depend on to overregulate to the point of instability?

Besides, I didn't bring up humans, I brought up cows. Nice strawman argument though.

Point of my question to Vic is that liberals are so focused on minor contributors to a perceived problem instead of the major issues at hand. If you want to stop global warming, go after China and India, not dairy farmers in California.

That happens when "the future of planet Earth" is exploited for political gain.

Definitely is a good reason to shorten the life of Planet Earth. Got to make it a competition. If you let the lefties win one topic it will be terrible! Worse than the end of the world!

But yea saving the world from a potential threat is Imperialism and Socialism.

253k for May, which is almost 5 times more than May of 16, and already hitting over 1.2 mil for the year.

Why does the world have to be saved ? Mother nature would kill you if given the chance. Nature doesn't care that humans exist.

More like 600 million tons per year and rising, and that's just the ones we know about.

The problem was previous studies only focused on land based volcanoes and ignored Ocean volcanoes along with all other forms of thermal venting (hot springs / vents / ect.). Most of the worlds volcanoes are underwater, and those underwater volcanoes also happen to be far more active then their sleeping land based cousins. CO2 released from Ocean volcanoes goes into the Oceans which have multiple orders of magnitude higher capacity for both heat and CO2 capture then our nitrogen atmosphere.

Anyhow most "Climate Science" is *** right now, far too much money and career aspirations tied into coming up with the "right" politically correct result. There hasn't been any causation demonstrated just loose correlation. The numbers only work for a short period in the mid 20th century and then fall apart on anything outside of it. Then the people pushing the "Science" go on these huge rants stating the World Will End, but don't worry they can save you for a nominal fee. When people ask questions and demonstrate healthy skepticism they get lambasted, guilt tripped, bullied, ostracized, and "Othered" by the sales men. "You are just a bad person because you don't want to save the world, why don't you care about the Polar Bears".

High pressure sales tactics are the biggest indicator of a con job.

Methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas than co2. I know it's funny to laugh about cow farts but it's far from a minor contribution to the larger problem.
