Man, why are you so pissypants that people still actually enjoy playing the *** game?

I find it incredibly comical that people hate on SE and FFXI so hard, yet they can’t let go and continue to post here. Do you still keep tabs on your ex from 10 years ago homie? ***’s not healthy.

Also, why you posting from a sock there Punchmage?

This has probably already been mentioned (or complained about) but with all the power creep, the old content has becone trivial. The last time we had this sort of change, it was through full release of abyssea or adoulin. So if there isn't some big release of new content this year, these latest updates have only served to make the game stale with only 1 endgame that remains aligned to level.

So I hope they actually have a large chunk of content planned or they kinda botched the maintenance mode the game was left in for no good reason.

They obviously have something planned, otherwise, Master Levels would serve no purpose other than a meaningless grind. Odyssey R25 gear would serve no purpose other than a meaningless grind to beat more of the same (only) high level bosses left in the game.

They did this exact same gradual rollout with Odyssey and then Gaol; it came in stages where they allowed players to gear up their unity stuff/MM/segments and then they released bosses. The problem with that is that even though SE gave everyone ample lead time to get ready for Gaol, 90% of the people ignored Odyssey until it was dropped in our laps, and now you get constant complaints that say how hard/boring it is. So instead of catching up, they talk about how "poor" the content is. Then went back to complaining about how "lucky" everyone who can beat bosses is. And now they are giving you the same amount of lead time to catch up on story missions, Gaol V20/R25 gear/MLs, so that whenever they drop the next biggest thing, people won't complain about how hard it is to beat and how you have to grind Gaol/MLs to even participate. But who are we kidding? You're all going to complain no matter what. It's a never-ending cycle, I wish some of you who complained non-stop about FFXI would simply move on and play a better game that suits your needs.

At this point, it should be expected that SE is going to release 1-2 major content releases per year and that is all. In between that is the monthly campaigns and the Ambuscade resets. It has been that way since Omen and they have not budged off of that model. Ome > Dynamis > Odyssey > Gaol. Throw in a few HTBF to keep you grinding. MLs to keep you growing. Then six months into the process, throw out big content that takes 8-12 months for the casual person to catch up to, and 2 months for the more dedicated players to finish. This is not going to change this year either, so either unsub and wait for something good if you've blown through all the past content, or catch up on the older stuff and get ready for what is clearly coming soon. Because you're only getting one big event to do this year and then that is all.

Lol these people have been around for ages especially post Abyssea. They live to hate on the game and anyone still enjoying it. I think part of the reason is jealously because they couldn't hack the latest content. I'm sure Homsar is sticking it to the man and canceling his subs to bop to XIV then come back in a few months to give more money. Doing gods work, harass those nerds who still enjoy the game.

You guys were just having a discussion about things you wanted changed because you didn't like the way they are currently in the game and it was fine until a guy said that the thing he doesn't like is the price.

Then it was "If you don't like the game, you should never play again!!!!".

You guys are ridiculous.

There is an obvious difference between a discussion about what should be changed in the game and complaining that updates are not large enough.

This is particularly true when Square Enix was upfront with the XI community in 2016 that the game would be going into maintenance mode. To see people still complaining SIX YEARS LATER that updates aren't big enough is a bit ridiculous.

Especially after they started charging more - Like you really thought SE would work harder after fleecing their player base for more revenue? Like what were they expecting? 2 more lines in the monthly patch notes?!? Are you mad? This is all you get...

and be thankful they didn't shut the server down

I'm not saying you have to be thankful. Just don't expect any sympathy by playing the victim who got fleeced when you set unrealistic expectations completely divorced from reality.

Traditionally, even when FFXI was popular, months prior to big updates were a little slow. There are only two more updates before May, when something is presumably going to happen.

We still have Empyrean armor updates, whatever new battle content is coming with VR, and the job balancing changes they’ve talked about for a while. None of those are minor updates. There is also still one more set of Odyssey changes and ML updates, which are more minor.

I will admit VR is kindof a bummer. The content is pretty lame IMO and I only slog through it because it’s gonna be a prerequisite for whatever comes next. If I didn’t think it was tied to some important future update, I’d never touch it.

I thought this was just MLs? They started out last year talking about they had job update system in the works, but then never mentioned it again unless I am misremembering? When did they mention this system recently where it wasn't ML they were talking about? I thought they were using the terms interchangeably and it was really MLs they were talking about. Could be wrong, point me in the right direction so I can read up on it if they are different.

They put job adjustments on hold and will resume them later. RNG was given priority beforehand because they felt it would fall further behind.

You might be right. I had been under the impression (possibly from reading here) that a job balancing update was due in the future, but going back and looking at the Hover Shot update in May 2021 (the last update I remember them mentioning it directly), they call it a "progression system", the same thing they reference when discussing ML.

I had also thought I read somewhere they claimed that ML was different than what they had discussed before, but I can't find it now, so maybe I dreamed it up. Either way, it seems likely/possible I misunderstood or got caught up in forum crystal ball reading.

If we talking about updates and being grateful, whatever they did with inventory, I have now much less lag in Sheol C with 8 Wardrobes, than I had with 4, which is awesome. Seems to be the case for dynamisD too.

If anything ML was the best thing they have done in a long time. My only issue is that all the mobs are in depressing *** dungeons.

People can simultaneously enjoy something and be critical of it. I'm not sure why this concept is so difficult for people to understand. Just makes me laugh to see people talk about how great and frequent the content updates we get are when the content is just the game equivalent of updating a Facebook profile picture once per month and smattering in a video update every 2 or 3 months. Even the cool ***SE introduces like MLs ends up getting marred by the fact that it's a classic FFXI disproportionate grind for what you get.

Make no mistake, I enjoy FFXI very much. Doesn't mean it isn't deeply flawed and it doesn't mean that SE doesn't do shitty, low-effort things regularly. It's also amusing that in one post you accuse me of not playing while also acknowledging that I currently play on the same server as you.

The latest content? You mean grinding Apex mobs and participating in whatever Ambuscade SE selected this month? Pretty easy stuff to do.

Nuance is somehow lost on this forum. For some reason the people here think if you point out the bad, you can't enjoy the good.

It better be, because I'll sadly be at the end of my FFXI road if isn't. I've done pretty much everything FFXI has to offer.

Even if we accept arguendo that the developers promised larger updates due to the increased subscription fees. . . expecting it to change on the very next update is also a ridiculous expectation. You have to get approved budgets based on new revenue, hire staff, train staff, plan out content, actually develop that content, etc.

And, of course, no such promise was made. The Wardrobes were sold as a one-to-one deal without any promise or expectation to bring the game back into active development.

Yea, who wants to spend their limited playtime actually playing the game!? It's much better to just come here and complain about lack of content. xD

There's nothing ironic about it. CPing in and of itself is tedious and boring, but extremely easy. I mastered multiple jobs before ever paying for it.

Endlessly grinding the same mobs is the most boring way to play the game. Even the people who do it "legit" don't typically just sit there and focus solely on CPing, since it's so boring and easy. I'll stick to using my time to do things with my shell mates, since that's actually enjoyable.

As much as I want to suggest giving them a piece of mind about wardrobes, it's possible this is their way of extending an olive branch after the mixed feelings regarding those. I don't think a HD remaster or new expansion are in the works, but might be a good opportunity to make some reasonable requests if we got enough people to agree and send messages of the same nature.

This is something I've noticed people here have a very hard time grasping. You can love or enjoy something but have little gripes or things you would like improved on. People think that just because you point out one flaw that you're "hating" or something else dumb.

Bismarck.Firedemon said: »

To be fair, "shitposting" is grossly overused. Today, it's used to incorrectly describe posts people disagree with in the same incorrect way people used to use "trolling" as a way to describe posts they disagree with.

And FYI, just because someone doesn't use guildwork does not make them a sock.

What constitutes a sock? He has more posts than you do and his account has an actual character tied to it when yours doesn't.

Also, false reports are just as bad, if not worse than occasional annoying post. Just because you don't agree does not mean it breaks any rules.

No, there’s disagreeing with someone, and disagreeing while insulting them or calling them simps or just being abrasively rude. Half his posts are like this.

Using a literal second account to post when your main has made posts in the past screams socks.
