Well they are doing a freshly picked and another aman live for november to give us future plans according to the prepatch notes. Much more straightforward than usual.

So if people mystified about the direction about of the game after next month, maybe it's not all on SE.

I think the history of SE's surveys has always been the same:

"Here's a bunch of options to give you, the players, the illusion of choice, but in reality, the outcome has already been decided. In fact, we've already implemented and tested these changes, so your input while have no impact whatsoever. In the most basic sense, we provide this survey as merely a placebo effect, to reinforce your desire to keep giving us money. Please enjoy it."

I'd like to pretend that things are different now, but I assume the options of what they can actually accomplish at this stage of the game is limited.

Also, I think it's great that they have the target npc on the gamepad back on the updates. I switched it over to give it a try and disabled F8 on my controller binds. It felt generally inferior to F8 and it would target friendly pets often instead of the enemy npcs that were directly in front of me. But I really hope they stop messing with the gamepad after they fix that up. I don't think there is much more you can do for players that aren't using lua to take advantage of organizing extra binds. Too many people play with keyboard to pretend this is remotely important compared to something that would affect everyone.

I've spent more than 20 years burning controller use into muscle memory. Not sure there would ever be a reason to switch unless they implemented smart targeting. Would not hold breath.

People die because they can't keep up with moogles that move slower than walking speed? No wonder all of the PFA are aimed at newbs.

I did not, nor did i know that exists, and I'm probably willing to try that regardless because I can't think of reason I would ever target a pet.

Tangent: Is there a pseudo manual that has all the /commands in them? I think I get told about a new one about every year or 2, usually here.

I've never found a reason why you would want to target someone else's pet. You can't interact with them through any JAs anyways. I always leave this command on.

Use /? in-game for a (probably) full list of commands

To clarify, if the Dynamis-D entry works exactly like the Ruspix Plate from Sortie, how often can someone enter? Because most groups are rarely entering exactly 60 hours after the previous run.

3 or 7 weeks to store a full charge, depending on whether you run once or twice a week. That's assuming they keep the same 5:1 actual/stored ratio that Ruspix uses. They can change it to hit whatever numbers they want.

168 hours in a week, so 108/48 hours raw "excess" time. Pick whichever number is relevant to you and divide by whatever ratio number they come up with.

Depends how often you otherwise enter...For example if you enter every 3 days (72 hours), which would put your days on a weird cycle, at the same time every night, then you would get an extra run every 25 regular runs, or once every 75 days.

If you run twice/week on the same days at the same time, then you would gain 12 Ruspix hours one day, 36 Ruspix hours the next day. This means you get an extra run about every 6.25 weeks, round however you want. Roughly every 6~7 weeks.

The new currency/rewards system for Besieged sounds like Zurim 2.0 with Domain Invasion. How laggy is Al Zahbi going to be for the first few weeks of Besieged? Going to be annoying if the currency is based on your active participation but nothing loads or you can't attack anything because it's already dead but won't disappear from your screen. Maybe the upgrade to Level 9 adds a handful more waves.

I've already tempered my expectations. There will be 1 or maybe 2 things for end game people over the course of implementing it. 5-10 things for new players. And it will be an absolute ***storm for the first 3 months. I hope the rewards are good enough that it keeps the engagement for longer than that and they keep adding harder difficulties if it's successful enough with new rewards.

I can't wait honestly. Something a little different even if it's frustrating is still a little more variety.

We already knew the Dynamis change. . . why is anybody surprised?

Just you and Rivalian, evidently. If you didn't watch the stream there was no way of knowing, and nobody else who did watch and posts here passed it on.

Except I quoted my post where I literally did pass that information on in this thread lol. I love XI !!

Gonna be rad when the final implementation to Besieged is when it hits level 11 (or XI) that's when Neo-Illuyankas shows up, and ho boy, you thought Mireu lag was awful! Please look forward to it.

Still unable to make changes to gampad while game is up fwiw, at least with Windower. Launching gamepad config from within game does nothing, the app launches then closes immediately. Launching it manually and saving requires restarting the game.

"Increase to the experience points earned following a successful defense"

I hope they mean something else... Like Capacity Points for lvl99 players.

If you logout, not shutdown, it's available under the config menu that is at that launch screen. It will open and let you save without having to restart the client.

But yeah, in game it just crashes.

This is because the gamepad utility literally looks for a window called "Final Fantasy XI" to send the configuration to. Since windower renames each instance with the name of the character that is logged in, the utility can't find FFXI and crashes. Logging out means that the instance get renamed back "Final Fantasy XI", so the utility works.

A fix for windower is in the works, but finding the right solution has proven challenging.
