if enough NA people went to the extreme to cancel subs over this, would SE even get the memo? how do you hit them where it hurts AND clearly show why you did it? a forum post on the OF would probably get shut down immediately.

not suggesting anyone do this, just a thought exercise how would you get their attention. Nynja made the point that this absolutely would not fly on Odin, and I agree, how do non-JP ever stand a chance?

It would take a lot. A lot lot. Like a thousand minimum. Like one of the bottom 10 entire server would have to go dark in solidarity.

And it'd take more than one pay period.

It would have to be an actual holy ***moment. Biblical. Even to get a bean counter to raise his eyebrows in actual panic. An unachievable goal.

And it would be the excuse the execs are waiting to pull the plug against Fujito's efforts, so let's make it not happen.

If enough people cancelled subs for long enough they would just shut down the servers as it just wouldn't be feasible to keep them running with such a same player base. What you are suggesting here would hurt the game way to much.

Honestly, ever since Square Enix's failure of $200M Avengers game, the company has been struggling financially.

I think to myself that, they are circling the drain and someone like Sony is eye'ing up to buy them in a heartbeat.

But ...but, it would be TRAGIC if Microsoft or Amazon (Activision?) bought them instead...

Square has a terrible leadership team that refuses to give gamers what they want and what we ask for. Nobody wanted Guardians. Nobody wanted Forspoken. For the love of god, stop trying to appeal to the mythical western modern audience - IT DOES NOT EXIST.

Square sorely needs to return to their roots and go back to their 90's and early 2000's catalogue. They are getting absolutely cooked by random nobody studios.

guardians was pretty widely praised and the tomb raider games were fine

the issue with avengers had more to do with the type of game they made and the art style they used

but beyond that- i'm not really sure why you're saying that they need to do that *now*, given that they've already done just that; they've already sold off all their western studios

did you just wake up from a coma or something?

There is a reason why people aren't spreading to the empty servers where there are very few if no RMT.
Why would a group of people willingly leave their small quiet server to go to a high pop server where there are queues to enter events?

The fact that expedition 33 was not created by square enix should make them feel ashamed. The fact that it was made by a studio of less than 40 people should make them really question wtf they are doing and why they're missing the mark so badly.

They refuse to make a new Nier property as well allegedly because they don't want to pay Yoko Taro. They let Stellar Blade by Shift One take it. It's basically the relaunch of Nier and Yoko Taro was hugging up on Kim Hyeong-Tae in interviews together.

As big a F-K you to SE as I think he could professionally get away with.

Executive/beancounter led decisions rather than artistic/creative vision.

Meanwhile, over on the English side, we're two years into "Vana'bout should start at midnight instead of four hours earlier, and uncleared objectives should go away instead of blocking slots." And that's stuff that there's an official "post here to give us feedback about this" thread for.

Posting in English on the official forums is, essentially, just prayer. Maybe somebody's listening, but there's precious little evidence that that's the case. Sometimes something happens that looks like what you asked for, but it could just as easily be pure coincidence.

They have selective hearing on the official forum. I have brought issues forward and had many agreeing, but they do not care at all unless they are 1) losing money, or 2) the suggestion goes with what they were already planning.

Hell, even when they do those special screenshot campaigns, they fail to send out rewards. Last time I did it, I had to hijack the thread to ask why I hadn't received anything. Turned out a few others hadn't either. They have and always will be shockingly bad on the forum (minus the JP side).

I believe that there isn't a dedicated Community team for FFXI on the official forum.
Evidence is that the same "Community Rep" that made post in FFXI forum also post on FFXIV forum.

There's like 1 post every week on the OF for FFXI, why in the world would they have a dedicated TEAM for the community of FFXI..? What would a full team of full-time workers do with their day if they were assigned to the English FFXI forums? Watch YouTube videos or read books?

I was simply stating one of the more obvious reasons that things posted on the official forum get ignored... I'm not suggesting that there should be a community team.

update notes said:
About the number of entrants for Dynamis – Divergence
I have an update regarding the participation method for the content.

We have taken great care when deciding upon the minimum number of players allowed within Dynamis – Divergence, due to the impact that would arise from such major changes to the content. However, we are finally at the point where we feel we have an idea about what shape these possible changes could take.

Although we are not ready to give an update on our progress, we feel it's better to give you small updates like this, even at irregular intervals, so that you can prepare for the upcoming changes rather than being surprised by them if they are implemented without notice.

Therefore, we will be holding a campaign from September that makes it easier for you to challenge the boss monsters found in Dynamis - Buburimu, Dynamis - Valkurm, and Dynamis - Qufim. (We also plan to make it easier to obtain items that weaken the Dynamis - Buburimu boss as part of September's Dynamis Granules of Time Campaign.)

This felt like a non sequitur to me. They're talking about reducing the Dynamis divergence entrance requirements and then ??? Dreamworld Dynamis campaign ???

Not sure if "making it easier to challenge the boss" is the same as "making it easier to obtain items that weaken" them.

If they're easier to challenge, why do you need to weaken them.

No, but that is the right line of reasoning. You have to beat Dynamis - Tav to access Divergence, apparently, and you have to beat Bubu/Valk/Qufim to access Tav. Lower tier (level 80) bosses only for everything.

Thanks!
* We're revisiting the Divergence entry conditions to make them easier
* One of those conditions is Dynamis Tav access
* We're going to make it easier to clear the level 80 NMs needed for that

Reducing one-time hurdles like this mostly helps people spinning up new accounts, but maybe that is the point.

I feel that the 45 day wait lock against certain content is underused. Sure it can be annoying if you're spinning up your 9th box, but as long as it's done right it still gives time to a new character to learn the game and get prepared before getting into things - and a new player has no business doing Odyssey after just a week anyway.

I mean. Any hurdle is a bad hurdle.

If you start a game and they tell you, you can't do that until you've paid us twice, you should say, well *** you then.

What does it really accomplish putting 45 day wait on a new bot getting nyame. You start a trial account, leave it logged off for 45 days then start it. Didn't do anything.

Also; It's just like imps, you should be doing Sheol A immediately, you need a TON of segments (Which is why I said Sheol A mobs hit too damn hard previously)
