Since when is someone holding true to their religious convictions considered hating ? Do you even understand the concept of religious freedom ?

I'd say when those religious freedoms preach hate, but I don't know of a single religion that doesn't do that in some fashion. So I guess we have a conundrum!

Mueller still hasn't found any crime yet.

If you ignore the 4 people so far who have been charged with crimes, sure.

Manafort and Gates have been charged on events that occured before this election even happened. No relation to Russia what-so-ever. Zero.

Flynn and Papadopoulos, are charged with "lying to the FBI" which also has nothing to do with the premise of the investigation.

Do you even understand what it takes to get charged with "lying ot he FBI". An agent can ask you what you ate for dinner one night during an interview, and 2 months later at a follow-up interview he can ask you what you ate for dinner again. If you waver in your story at all, you can be charged with "lying to the FBI"

Re Popadopolous. Lying about your contacts could mean you told the FBI the contact's last name was spelled with a silent E in one interview, and then not in another interview. Considering the leaks in this investigation are politicized and Mueller's team is full of anti-Trump hacks, The fact that you don't know what the extent is, is NOT an indication that there is anything here. In fact, quite the opposite.

See, look at all the ***you don't/didn't know...

Don't you ever get dizzy from spinning so much?

It's not spin. This is the turd sandwich you're chomping down on.

Well for me it isn't even a bout religion. It is about people trying to tell me what I can and can't do. We already have too many laws and regulations. We don't need to make more ***.

I think Al Franken should go back to SNL they need some decent people. And he is probably a better SNL cast member than Senator.
Frankin going back to comedy is bad news for everyone.

At the end of the day couldn't you find something else to *** about...it's a damn cake after all this isn't denying someone a house or a job.

It's not even a cake, the baker was offering to sell them a regular wedding cake or to do a custom wedding cake without the gay pride decorations, they wouldn't accept that.

This is about a homosexual couple trying to force a christian to offend their own religion and create art against their wish's. It's no different then holding a gun to a Jewish artists head and forcing them to paint swastikas and Nazi's saluting.

Coerced speech is coerced speech and is a huge *** constitutional no no.

Quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

They can not force the baker to support gay pride by creating an artistic wedding cake with gay pride decorations.

The government, regardless of the party running it, can not compel people to support them. The Canadian and other liberals here wish to, under threat of violence and prison, force someone to support their ideas.

That level of authoritarianism should be making everyone's skin itch.

I'd prefer instead of laws we have consequences.

"You can ride a motorcycle without a helmet but if you do, your insurance company isn't required to pay your medical bills."

"You can sexually assault someone but only if you're okay letting their family wait outside with sledgehammers."

"You can drink and drive but your child and grandma have to be in the car with you."

You know. Like a bad bar game but with real life consequences.

It always amazes me the people preaching about first amendment don't even understand it.

Asking Canada about freedom of speech is like asking Saudi Arabia about human rights.

This is one of those "I can't define pornography but I know it when I see it" questions. And I'm not interested in sitting here trying to hammer out a legal definition of religion.

Quit trying to be coy and clever!

As long as your not using the power of state to coerce people's speech then we're fine. That ***is how we get places like Venezuela, Vietnam, China and North Korea. The government has zero place telling people what they can or can't say or think. Forcing someone, at gunpoint, to support your ideological religion is vile and the worst kind of evil.

See, I'm the kind of person who were I in that situation would say "Yeah, ok, I'll make your cake."

And I'll take the money of the idiot who wants to pay the gay baker and make a donation to some pride fund in their name with that money.

Sorry, I've floated out of "being entirely serious" territory.

I'm not okay with drinking and driving or sexual assault.

...I am oddly okay with the one about motorcycle helmets and insurance though. Feel free to not wear a helmet, but it makes it really, really hard to feel bad for you when you're crippled.

That's easy, strip away all the theological ***, dogma and look at the core structure.

Any belief system that requires it's members to assume it's truths without evidence or skeptical criticism.

That's every religion on the planet, including the current batch of Progressive Ideologies.

A cult is any religion that responds violently towards external criticism and seeks to use coercion to defend itself from that criticism.

What? Oh.

Oh, I like Westboro in a roundabout way.

To borrow a bit from Kyle Kinane, anyone who can bring together Hell's Angels and the Pride folks can't be all bad, right?

Kinda assumed you were being extreme on those points. People should not be protected from the consequences of their actions. The state shouldn't be going around trying to nanny the population to protect them from their own stupidity.

This I like well enough.

Still leaves too much wiggle room for the "don't understand vernacular vs. scientific definition of 'theory'" ***, but it's a start.
