Boycotts are rarely the precipitating factor for change. Rather, they bring attention to an issue and signal the magnitude and intensity with which a group feels a particular way,” Schweitzer said. “In most cases, a small minority of people call for a boycott that the wider community fails to support by taking substantive action.

Sometimes I wonder if social justice or whatever would be more acceptable if their statements were nuanced instead of angrily shouted by college kids who are most likely just parroting their professor's opinions.

I saw Hungary did away with gender studies and whatnot in their colleges as they saw it partly as harmful but also not at all useful to the workforce.

...it does strike me as a waste of time and money but whatever. I kinda wonder if Trump will see that and try to implement something similar here. I don't think it would work but the fallout would be entertaining.

Btw, when I bring up the guns issue being more of a mental health issue, someone always points out that gun control would be much easier than implementing mental health related programs and laws...but really if you look at what would have to go into "takin r guns" mental health would be easier.

It would also fix more problems than just banning guns whereas too strict of gun control would create problems. Lawful gun owners may be unable to protect themselves from a criminal who got his weapon illegally, it puts manufacturers and retailers out of work, etc.

David Hogg had me then lost me. S&W is the first gun manufacturer to start caving when ***goes awry, that's why their revolvers now have those ugly locks in them. I do want a 4" 686 tho. 6 round because I'm a purist like that.
Social justice is just the latest mask for socialism, communism, and whatever collectivism’s favored rebranding is of the moment.

The goal of social justice is to provide more equitable outcomes for everyone. But that goal is ultimately flawed at it’s foundation. We are all different from each other and we will always be different from each other. These differences are so numerous, nuanced, and foundational that they absolutely cannot ever be smoothed over by broad reaching government action. No government is fast enough, smart enough,or powerful enough to overcome human nature. Government cannot be because of the nature of government itself.

No government policy is ever going to make women more person oriented instead od object oriented, no policy is magically going to make collective intelligence of lower groups as intelligent as higher ones, and no policy is going to give men he ability to give birth. All policies that pursue such endeavors only end up handicapping the most productive people amongst us and history is fraught with many examples of how terribly catastrophic that ends up being.

To boil this down and simplify it, women are never going to be able to compete with men at basketball unless we lower the basket height, but once we do that we’ve ruined basketball.

I also find the idea that now Dems are wanting classified documents, Repubs are shitting themselves over it as if the Peter Strzok thing never happened.

Two counterpoints to this.

Democrats are arguing for legally privileged information. Lawyer client stuff. This is different than a public agency’s internal communication texting System.

And

Democrats argued that whatever was in those texts shouldn’t be used as a basis for his impartiality. They sure aren’t going to give kavanaugh that olive branch.

So we have the double, double standard. Its okay for Strozk to be biased, but not Kavanaugh. And Strozk is allowed to have made up privileges and Kavanaugh is not allowed his entitled privileges.

There are more documents available for Kavanaugh than ANY other SCJ nomination. The idea that this is hiding anything is total ***.

Previous cases are irrelevant, when you make up a reason to withhold 100k docs, your hiding something. Nothing new from trump.

Keep whining, liberals are disrespecting the confirmation process. They have no respect (big surprise I know) for the law or the constitution.

This guy was already confirmed by democrats for the federal judiciary years ago. No problems then, but now they can’t pass up an opportunity to obstruct, whine and ***all over the constitution. We’re watching a tantrum because Trump is winning, and thats all.

Ya, he’s just “hiding” yoga schedules and wedding plans. Liberal hypocrisy at it’s best. No problem with Clinton violating a subpoena but Kavanaugh’s “got something to hide” even though he’s supplied more docs than any other nominee.

Nike has a deep history of standing for the freedoms of black athletes, and they have built the largest sports apparel empire on the planet, but that won't stop the trolls from crying.

You have to wonder just what is in those 100,000 documents that's so horrid. GOP pizzagate?

I mean he prepped these questions for Bill:

Quote:
“If Monica Lewinsky says that you ejaculated into her mouth on two occasions in the Oval Office area, would she be lying?”

“If Monica Lewinsky says that on several occasions you had her give [you] oral sex, made her stop, and then ejaculated into the sink in the bathroom of the Oval Office, would she be lying?”

“If Monica Lewinsky says that you masturbated into a trashcan in your secretary’s office would she [be] lying?”
And they were released.

Whatever is in those 100,000 documents HAS to be worse than that.

They've done a lot of good. They've also been involved in a lot of shady crap. Your "facts" are irrelevant. A bad business decision is a bad business decision.

Im sure they are aware it's not a good business decision, but sometimes it goes beyond that.

Its not a bad business decision, the initial conservative crying will be really loud, but it won't affect Nike. Who buys Nikes in 2018? Same demographic that has always bought them, young people between the ages of 16-35. Also happens to be the same age group that has come out strong for Kaep.
Who cares if a bunch of old, conservative white men stop buying socks? Combine that with the fact Nike signed an 8 year extension earlier in the year with the NFL to be their official uniform provider, they have nothing to worry about. And basketball hasn't even started.

That said, I do feel kinda bad for the NFL, Nike could have announced this say a month ago, instead of on the eve of their season. But given how poorly the NFL has handled the anthem protests, and how terrible the commissioner is, and how they are headed for a strike, my sympathy already evaporated.

I work in the US headquarters of of a very large international company. Trust me, you do not want to alienate potential or current customers just because you're currently "doing okay". Investors aren't just going to sit on their hands when top line growth takes a hit just because, golly gosh gee willikers, it was for a "good cause" after all.

They invest in a company because they expect continuous, positive growth, and this is a huge gamble. Your careless dismissal of real customers is a sure sign that you don't understand business, and who knows where that leaves Nike.

Unless they're donating generously to BLM causes I dunno if I would call it a brave stance rather than a barely timely marketing ploy.

Lol at the people posting images of trashed or burnt Nike gear. They already have your money dipshits. Takes a true, whats the word, snowflake to get offended by an ad campaign that's not at all targeted at you.
