Yeah, I was just thinking... man... jeans are expensive.
Then I realized I could just go farm some cotton, learn how to weave, learn how to sew, etc.
And then I thought... yeah, sometimes that just just stupid.
I did that crap with Carn... it kind of made me hate FFXI for a bit.
well i have over 200m in currencies. id rather farm the currencies and use my gil to buy armor.
what do you do when you log in?
By Quizzy 2020-06-05 23:05:44
I chat with people... do some Dynamis on Sundays, kill some dragons, casual Ambuscade.
If I had to do 400 Alex runs to complete a weapon I think I would just quit instead. Again.
Much better to do varied activities, sell what you don't need, and buy what you like.
EDIT: I'll add this caveat... I know at least one guy that does farm all his stuff... I tell him he is crazy, but he does it anyway because he can't think of anything else to do =p

Yeah same pretty much. I'm a mix of buy a little/farm a little. Some of these upgrade requirements, you'd literally have to tri-box at bare minimum and still spend at least several hrs every day to farm all you need (if you don't feel like waiting 8 months for every upgrade).
The problem I run into is when the items you need are being sold for way too high, such as swartz. Then in those cases, I do what I can with farming and just go without the "bestest" upgrades for the time being. Not like there is some time limit and we killed everything in the game without R15 Masu and maxed out Rostams, so no reason to shame people who don't have those.

so you farm currencies when you log on...

lets be real boxing is the problem. not the sparks
By Shichishito 2020-06-05 23:43:38
sparks botting in combination with the reward multiplier of multiboxing. if everyone ran a single account and manually farmed sparks till they got tired of it they could have left the sparks/accolades system untouched and it still wouldn't have turned into a issue 40 years form now.

If that is how you interpret what I said then I'm not sure you are worth interacting with.

Alex was going for 4,200k/1x on Odin, now it's up to 8,400/1x.
fenrir's was 410k/stack for quite some time, and then someone sold alex to themselves to clear the sales history, and put it up to 800k. There have been a few items that have had this happen lately. not sure if this is just a player or something more ominous...

not really, no, if you're talking about the anonymous mule that did it last month it was me satisfying an alexandrite demand for customers when asura was charging 1.2m/stack and i needed more than my bots farm
it's actually market manipulation in a way to insist nobody buys above a certain price just because it's been the prevailing price, those 800k stacks were listed as long as it took for them to sell and it paid off for the people doing it
it can't stay half the price of asura forever, eventually people will want it enough to transfer and buy it, that's likely the same thing happening with other mats on small servers.. there's likely more people realizing that the price differentials between servers are potentially worth the extra effort of transferring things around
kraken is another good example, plenty of servers had 100m-200m histories but when asura shot up to 500m+ there were not many/any to be had at those prices, people started matching asura rate very quickly

well its a combination of both when dealing with RMT if they are multi boxing with bots that farm 24/7.

SE makes too much off of server transfers, and after this many years of allowing it to exist I'd imagine they actually count on that income to "balance the books" for FFXI.
If it was all about game experience, the easiest fix would be a unified AH across all servers. Keep the players separate for the sake of pop crowding, camp crowding, etc, but unify the supplies of the playerbase.
...again, the loss of income from server transfers I guarantee is something they don't want, or may not even be able to run the game without. That is effortless money for SE.

It's easy to spout your mouth off when you have no idea what you're talking about. Considering the size of the team they work hard to give us new stuff to do.

you still get exp(potpourri) and cp(10k for ultimate upgrades)

My teaching specialism is CAD and rendering btw. Not polygonal modelling or UV texturing, but I know a lot about them as they are related.
Lies, you teach feminist dance class.

Never argue with DirectX unless you want to argue with a troll, that's all he is and all he posts for.
It can be fun, but only if you know he is a big fat troll.

Unity pop items will be too expensive....
They finally did it:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/56904-Announcing-the-June-Version-Update
Quote: Perhaps the biggest of these changes are adjustments to sparks of eminence and unity accolade rewards. We are placing a weekly cap on the amount of points that can be exchanged. You have probably deduced that this is an effort to combat RMT activities in-game. We wanted to combat these activities in a way that would provide minimal pain to the playerbase, but in going over all the data we have, we believe that this is the best place to target to reign in this issue, as they were providing a very easy, stable, and repeatable source of gil. We hope that the majority of you will not suffer too much as a result of this limit.
