Mastery Rank Data

It's known that there isn't an NPC to check. As a result, there's also no evidence the game tracks it.

That's what I remember as well.

You can turn in the difference in the max daily points if you rank up but it doesn't reset.

Say your previous rank's cap was 5k and you maxed that out first, then you ranked up and the new cap is 10k. You can turn in an additional 5k for the new daily cap of 10k. Your total for the day cannot exceed your current rank's cap.

If you de-level you get the lower cap, the daily cap doesn't reset or go down. The only thing that lowers the daily limit on points is midnight passing.

That trick is more useful because it lets you pick a different turnin item in cases when an ingredient is hard to get than because it affects the caps, imo.

I just hit Rank 8! ...and the thing that pushed me over the edge from Rank 7 to Rank 8 is actually pretty illuminating. It was trading a Rolanberry to Kupipi for a Portal Charm. I'm inclined to believe that anything that results in Fanfare music playing can produce a Mastery Rank up. (i.e. Kupipi's Portal Charm isn't a quest as far as I know, and it doesn't reward a title, but it did the trick for me).

After the November 10th update last month, I was Rank 7. To get to Rank 8, I did a little bit of everything, because I wanted to see how much of each area (Title/Quest/RoE/etc) really mattered towards a Mastery Rank Up:

Noteworthy observations about "completion" thus far:
1.) I only did 1 out of 3 Stronghold NM Battlefields (Blood-bathed Crown with Orcs in La Vaule (S))
2.) Medal of Altana in Past San d'Oria. (I only did 15-20 unique Campaign Ops and none of them were Fiat Lux)
3.) WotG quest line: I did not do the Bastok/Windurst past questlines, only Sandoria.
4.) Chocobo-raising: I simply hatched a chick from a somewhat warm egg and named it. (I will race him later for the Gysahl Trophy, Vorseal and Title).
5.) I got "Random Adventurer" for Bard NPC, but not Irresponsible/Insignificant/Odorous Adventurer.
6.) I have 856 obtained titles, 222 Missing Titles (This 222 number includes unobtainable and glitched titles).
7.) I have 883 completed RoEs (The RoE questline completed up to this point, as well. This includes RoE Quests/RoE Quests 2/RoE Quests 3/etc).
8.) I have zero fame in Abyssea, and only a few quests in each zone, but completed the story and have about 70 atmas.
9.) For my adventuring Fellow, I can't seem to even get the Tactics Pearl quest (at all!). But I called my Fellow out 3 times and in 2 hours got her from 30 to 40.
10.) Only 1 Master Trial done, whichever one gives the Aphelion Knuckles.
11.) All Seekers Coalitions Rank 7 and Mog Garden to Rank 7.
12.) For Monster Rearing, I raised 4 Monsters, Elasti-Behemoth, Regular Sabotender, Bomb and Abyssal Wyrm. I only have 1 Memento and it's from the Abyssal Wyrm.
13.) I've obtained #100 titles for Pond Dredger, Mineral Vein, Furrow, but not the Grove.
14.) I have Fishing 110, Synergy 80, and all other crafts I just stopped at 50-60. I couldn't pick a craft to save my life.
15.) I have done zero monstrosity. I simply entered the portal once to get a Vorseal and a second time to use the shop inside. (The shop tells you which jobs you beat Maat on based on their discounts).

Glitched Titles/Updates:
I have completed Ramuh, Caith Sith on VD, so HTBF says Honors but title NPC doesn't register it.
I have completed Wyrm God and Orb's Radiance on VD, but the HTBF NPC only says Conquered instead of Honors. Does anyone have this problem?

I think anyone trying to get Rank 8 should go through all of the Vorseals first (and then choose other Titles sparingly). I hope this is helpful to someone out there.

Were you already at max fame in that area? If yes then repeat quests should also give a rank increase, presumably at a low rate.

Things like millioncorn and the Norg fame repeat quests are good things to test this out with.

The monstrosity shops tell you which jobs you beat maat for real? that's interesting

Speaking of Monstrosity, you get 10% of your xp as Gladiator Prestige when you have the writ of summons and go to one of the three PvM zones. That means you need to farm 500k xp to cap, which is about 2k kills.

BLM isn't doing it for me. I see two paths:
1. PUP
2. Use a mule to farm Infamy, then kill it to convert to prestige

3)Do it during MON exp campaign

aka Tuesday

Yeah, there's an Instinct sold for each job. If you haven't beaten Maat on that job, the base price is 10,000 Infamy. If you have, the price drops to 5,000.

(also works for the non-Maat jobs, obviously - if you've done the ToAU/WotG/Adoulin limit breaks, same thing)

Added 14 titles, 37 ML and 121 roe(788 total). I was going down the list of UNM on ROE and finally hit rank 5 again.

It took me about It took me about 6 uses of my Signal Pearl (+ 6 daily chats with the Rendevous Point to get the Tactics Pearl quest. The quests are neat. I'm in the process of completing the questline for the vorseal.

Working on finishing some of the odds and ends for all the Abyssea titles. Is there any reasonable explanation as to why I would already have the Atma from killing an NM, but not the corresponding title you get from killing it? I'm a bit confused as to how that could have happened.

Which Atma? SE does give out Free Atmas from the Abyssea campaign.

Ahhhhh yes, that must be it. Atma in question was Atma of the Omnipotent from Pantokrator, which can be obtained via the chest. Guess I must have skipped killing that guy. Thanks for solving my confusion.

Did you have to be in XP range to get the atma? I thought it might be zone-wide for key items.

Being out of range was my original guess as to what might have happened, but the Abyssea campaign chest seems more likely.

fun fact: if you do this at lvl 90 with a prime weapon, you have access to the prime WS and get the aftermath. the grind still sucks though

I ground to 99 with onyx rabbit on my mule, killed him six times, and got 21k gladiator points. If anyone is interested in some bad notes:
Anyway, I do wonder if getting gladiator status and soloing EPs to 99 in buburimu is secretly a low-effort way to get to 99. (Thinking more, no zoning 15-99 is nice but no trusts is rough and Escha - Zi'tah is also one zone for a long time.)

His Lizard is almost 99 now too, so I shouldn't end up too far from the cap.

I'm currently in the position where i drop back down to rank 8 when I lose my Medal of Altana, so I've been intentionally keeping myself at 8 while completing more content to see what else might "count" enough to rank me back to 9. Here's my current findings if they help anyone...

First off, deleveling from ML50 to 49 did NOT drop my rank. I think it's safe to say ml50 is not a hard req for rank 9.

the following was NOT enough to increase my rank without Medal of Altana, so either this stuff doesn't count, Isn't worth nearly as much as medal, or Medal is a hard req for rank 9

I have 3 new titles (Mimic Masher, and the 500 pond/ocean garden ones)
I have completed 23 more campaign ops (220/246)
I got 2 new Chocographs and 2 rank ups in digging.(makes me think apprentice is some baseline achievement tier for ML)
I got 4 guild point KI's for goldsmithing (sheeting etc)
I completed stage 3 shield and started stage 4.
HCG gladiator rank, and got 70 levels in monstrosity.

I would recommend at least making sure you have medal currently active and get apprentice in digging before pursuing other grindy things to rank up, as they both seem like important tiers of completion for this.

I have a feeling there is hard req's for each rank, idk.

I got upgraded from Rank 5 to Rank 6 after the last update.
Since that update I have done the following:
- Roughly 100~ Title (random NM kills and the odd quest here and there)
- Roughly 150~ RoE completions (510 total complete)
- 300 Archey skillups ; 0 to 300
- 30 Bonecraft skilups
- Unlocked roughly 35-40 different species in Monstrosity (no 99s), but 5+ species above 50-75
- 40~ Unique campaign ops (40/246) including Fiat Lux (S)
- Medal of Altana

Still rank 6 after doing all of that.
The main notable things I haven't done and I'm trying to hit Rank 7 without doing to see if there is hard reqs:
The 3 side expansions - Moogle, Shanttoto etc
Rank 10 in all nations (I'm Rank 10 Sandy, Rank 7 Windy, Rank 1 Bastok)

Idk if this matters, but I used to have a stage 3 cooking shield years ago, but dropped and went from 110 Cooking to 100 Clothcraft. I never finished the quest to go 110 Cloth because lazy.

I'm Mastery r7 with only being Nation r8 in Windy (r10 in bastok and sandy)

My LS mate is Mastery r7 and hasn't purchased the expansions yet.

I was trying to figure out if the params also are tracking which runes/etc you have but never got that far and I don't want it to block it when I don't know when I'll get back to it (I'm notoriously bad about getting stuff done I don't need).

Titles addon is basically completed, going through some testing and feedback from others now, will post that here shortly as well. I'm assuming it's similar to Thorny's Ashita addon though I wrote it from scratch myself.

Activities since the update:
-ROE's from 400 to 935.
-All AF quests for 10 remaining jobs.
-All ROE Notorious monsters.
-Maats cap.
-Synergy from 40 to 80.
-Cooking from 0 to 110 with all key items.
-2 subcrafts to 30.
-Chocobo raised
-Other 2 nation missions to rank 10.
-All titles from buying each tier of conquest point items from each nation.
-Abyssea ALL zones completed 100% with max fame.
-5 ranks up in campaign.
-Bought the last 100 spells, songs, scrolls i was missing.
-Skilled up all combat and magic skills to lvl 99 caps.
-Monstrosity:

• Orthrus/Cerberus 99
  Marid 60
  Buffalo 60
  Manticore 60
  Dhalmel 60
  Ram 70
  Sheep 60
  Rabbit 30
  Bought all instincts and all monsters available to me

Guess its time to try fishing?

Is it correct that the only time you'd lose your medal is if you change nations? I thought once you get medal of altana it stays?

@Manque that's correct, I have been jumping between Bastok and Windy to try and finish campaign ops, so for science just kept myself from receiving the new altana medal until I was ready to switch again to see if my other activities would also move the dial

IIRC it took me 12 titles and some other stuff to make up for missing the Medal of Altana when I ranked up to 8 before the update.

I didn't make much of it at the time, but it's funny that Fulmination Disrupter (a title that the NPCs don't record properly and I may already have had) is what ranked me up.
