WTS: Tizona IRL (3D Printed)

Man, after all kinds of RL setbacks, 3D Printers breaking on me left and right... I finally got this one complete! I had a really fun time experimenting on finishing this one. I ended up doing the entire thing in gold leaf foil. This made it look very old and weathered from all the imperfections and I love it!

I have no issues seeing the pictures.

I had to use Google Photos to host because ImgBB seems to be down/broken for me. Only thing I can say is go to the Etsy link to view them.

Actually, one of the most popular printer brands out there, Prusa, prints a lot of the parts they use to make the printers. I've been slowly working on a custom built printer design that uses a bunch of 3D printed parts to hold all the extrusion and linear rails together.

3D printing is a wonderful thing.

Something to know about 3D printing tho, it's a tinkerer's hobby. All of the inexpensive machines, like the Ender 3, will require constant tinkering. There is lots you can upgrade to make things easier, but those also require assembling new parts onto your printer and modifying code to upload new firmware to your machine. The more expensive machines have some self calibrating features, but this is the difference between $200 machine and a $2500 machine.

I'm thinking about upgrading one of my walk in closets with some fume hoods/pumps and sticking a couple of resin printers in there. Ever worked with those? Was thinking about making custom XI/XIV character figures with them. The resolution afforded by resin is great for that kind of thing from what I've seen.

There is a guy out there called Phoenix Down Foundry that is doing resin print characters. They are absolutely incredible.

I used to have a Anycubic Photon and now I have a Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4k. I've always planned on selling miniature versions of my weapons printed on the resin printer. Resin printers are ridiculously messy to work with tho... Every time I use it I hate it because of the mess it makes. I'm trying to carve out a corner of my workspace to dedicate to the resin printer right now. You definitely want some sort of fume extraction. I have a dryer duct ran through a basement window with a 4" inline blower for my resin printer.

That said, you could print FFXI characters with FDM and they would look just fine. FFXI doesn't have enough detail in the physical model to take full advantage of a resin printer's resolution.
