I just did Final Bout for the BCNM with the PUP strat, just don't drag your feet at the start because you only get 3 mins in there (it's more than enough, just don't decide to go in and go to the toilet or something)

Incidentally, since you guys were talking about it, just so happens my Vana'Bout site has a calculator for working out your password for Doctor status now. It already exists elsewhere, but, heck with it why not at this point. Can find it here.

I promise I'll shut up about my website now

I farmed so many cores in Dynamis that I'm now making good money on selling em lol

Also, before I do the BCNM, which treasure chest is best to go for with the automata?

Eh, doesn't really matter. I just picked the middle one today and it was a mimic, was no issue at all for the puppet to take out with a standard Valoredge/Valoredge setup w/ Overdrive. Cycle light/fire/wind maneuvers.

Don't recall the exact attachments I used, but it was something like:
Optic Fiber I&II
Highest Auto-Repair Kit that still fits at level cap
Magniplug I&II
Strobe II
Turbo Charger I&II (if using Overdrive, really don't need both)
Highest available Armor Plate
Highest available Mana Jammer

And I just quickly filled things in with some random Earth attachment and I wanna say maybe Stabilizer V. But really, whatever fire/thunder offensive attachments are fine, or some other earth/water defensive thing.

No need to shut up, it freaking rocks. Thanks for the excellent tool! Anybody who isn't already aware, I'll give it a plug too: https://vanabout.dtrm.uk/

I really don't feel like going back and finding the quote, but someone earlier, in defense of the Moogle chip trade, said that it gave you 3 chips instead of 1.

You sir are a *** liar. It gives you 1 chip. You pay 12 crystals and 23,908 - 26,299 Gil for something that costs 21,000 Gil at the goblin. You are stupid as *** for thinking that is a valid use of the *** Moogle.

If you're truly counting gil to that extent, you could have just home pointed to sky and killed an elemental.

The elemental crystals don't matter. It's the fact that SE saw an NPC selling an item and went "We should add this to our other NPC that trades explicitly for items that are very hard to get or were only handed out a handful of times and add the SAME ITEMS BUT MORE EXPENSIVE FOR NO REASON. AND THEN MAKE IT PART OF VANABOUT TO GET CHEATED."

That is the part I object to.

The reason is that the goblin hours are only 11-22 I think (limited hours) so they wanted another way to obtain them at any time.

I guess they could have changed the hours of the goblin npc instead but they didn't want to do that for some reason.

They try to avoid game breaking changes.

...and sections with too much spaghetti code.

Gil removal tactic. Like bonanza marbles, except this time you get plaudits instead of inventory -1 or -2 for a month.

Just be glad they didn't make the moogle charge for initial eggs

(Day 0 = Day 1 on this, was just easier to work it out for me that way)

This is correct.

I think your reading comprehension is off. Nobody said that a single trade gives you three chips, though I did bring up that completing the Curator Moogle VB task (which requires THREE trades, maybe read the objective description?) will leave you with THREE colored chips in your inventory and a completed VB task. One chip for each trade you have to do to complete the objective.

Yup! Paying the ~15-20k premium over the chip NPC to get chips from the Curator Moogle instead is simply the cost of that VB objective and a small gil sink. And once complete, it leaves you with colored chips that you can use on the Strange Apparatus VB objective, which is at least a minor convenience. Hey, it's better than the Curator trade costing money but resulting in some random crap that has nothing to do with any VB quests. TBH, I'd have preferred if the Curator Moogle had Infinity Cores instead to avoid needing to farm them, but this is hardly a massive inconvenience.

Just like, go do one Sheol C run or an Ambuscade and you'll generate enough gil to fund your entire Vana'bout. It's not that crazy and the cost is well worth the reward. Consider that to make a single piece of reforged AF+2 armor, you have to buy an NPC craft item for about ~1.1mil. And if you hit the second VB tier, you get a full 5/5 set of AF+3.

With that in mind, I think I can live with the incidental costs of being FLEECED by that damn Curator Moogle overcharging me by 5k a trade. But if you find that outrageous and want to pass on Vana'bout because of it, you do you.
