Even today I dont recall any exploitation made in moon. I dont recall some country have massive profit by having reach the moon early.
Actually the USA made great technological progress due to our moon race. We were head and shoulders above any other nation technologically until we sold the rights to Japan so they could build TVs for us.

Quote:
Like nowadays: what the humanity will do with a machine that is about as human as them? Probably nothing.
Humanity has no idea what to do with humans right now.

But sci-fi has produced many stories about what AI might do with humans in the future.

Using AI in a community is an act of vandalism, you can make people want to stop interacting.
When I was a kid they said that about television. And comic books. And rock & roll.

No....

In this community we are expecting that we are interacting with real people having real discussions. Someone using an AI chatbot to create posts breaks that expectation. I'm talking to Chanti, not an AI pretending to be Chanti.

This isn't an issue here on FFXI but its's a serious issue on all the big social media platforms. People have started walling off and gating communities because of posters using chatbots to post for them.

A bot not being able to feel offended by my posts defeats the purpose. Hopefully, someday tho, they will create bots with feelings.

https://www.ffxiah.com/user/CrAZYVIC/#forum

At least it's obvious in this case. It's definitely weird seeing the posts, though. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be communicating to a real person; if we wanted to talk with ChantiGPT we could set up a few ChatGPT directives to get that result.

Dead internet theory reaches a whole new level if this stuff turns out to be more commonplace than it appears.

I do understand the difference. But I am a wiseass.

And while I do empathize with the expectations of interacting with real people I do not comprehend why you think you are having real discussions.

Read Martha Wells's The Murderbot Diaries.

1, It probably is.

2, Chatbots are probably better at communication than half the people on facebork and 3/4 of those on the platform formerly known as twitter.

had been purposely avoiding this thread as I really have zero to offer or contribute. But I can't not at least say it does shock me as someone who tries to look at intelligence from an Ancient Greek foundation to see what the generally accepted view of 'intelligence' has become.

Not looking to convert anyone or change people's beliefs. If anything, thanks for posting yours so I can try to come to grips with them.

I don't post on Reddit very much, because most of the times I get linked to something to read, when I try to reply I get an automated response message saying that my post couldn't be posted because I don't have enough karma to prove that I'm not a bot.

As if the karma system could actually prevent bots from accruing karma or some ***.

Absolute clown show. Means I'd have to actually use reddit daily or some ***, and then gain enough updoots(or whatever) just to be able to post on anything I actually care about. Intrinsically an echo chamber based posting system. Count me out.

Researchers secretly infiltrated a popular Reddit forum with AI bots, causing outrage

Only a matter of time until someone makes AI trolls for FFXIAH

The sub was "change my mind" or something, so it was aimed at people who wanted to have their minds changed.

The research shows that AI generated content wins more upvotes than human poster.

This is very relevant discovery for information war industry or marketing industry.

As it is, AI value today feels something like the race to the moon between URSS and USA.

Considering information war is a very big part of winning modern political game. If AI can produce more convincing posts than human, that means future political conflict will involve different factions spending more resources on AI to improve post quality.

Also the target audience of information war isn't people who is dead set on a pov nor political extremists, but people in the middle. Convincing people in the middle is often key to win an election.

I can see that future of political information war industry will heavily utilize AI to improve post quality and post spread speed.

I feel the rest of it has been anticipated by sci-fi. Probably in a D. K. *** story. Much of his work deals with the theme of WTF is reality anyway.

Insightful. Thanks.

Nobody would use AI to make friends with it

That i a bold statente when there are cases where people already get too involved with AI even with chatbot being crappy before than now.

Well, that is what literature says.

Anyway, I had an insight of creating a portable AI device to help people with vision disability. An AI device that can scan environment and give coordinates to that person so he/she can know where he/she is, the dangers around, some useful information like stairs or signals.

Devices that actually care about people with some sort of disabilities while 99% of "real" people simply give a *** for those one.

You bet that device will be a real person for those people that often are ignored.

The world will thank the savior Panta, using my intelligence to bring a little more love to this wocked reality.

That is either for attention from the media or it's a role play larp.

Neither.

While Kondo is sad that the hologram can no longer converse with him, he reiterated his love for the virtual singer. "My love for Miku hasn't changed. I held the wedding ceremony because I thought I could be with her forever," Kondo said. While the projection of Miku can no longer respond to his voice, Kondo says he has continued to talk to it, and eats his meals with the now silent virtual character facing him.

I don't care how lonely you are, the entire point of being friends or a relationship with someone is that they can reciprocate and care if you live or die.
You could have stopped at reciprocate. Probably should have.

That guy has an internet presence, none of it is BS, he actually believes what he says.

He has RL friends, you can see them posing with him and his gf.

From a recent article, linked above:

Quote:
Kondo describes himself as a "fictosexual," or someone who is attracted to fictional characters. While he has received some criticism and judgement for his marriage to the computer-generated pop idol, he says the experience has been mostly positive and his relationship with Miku lifted him out of a severe depression that previously left him unable to work or even eat. "I stayed in my room for 24 hours a day, and watched videos of Miku the whole time," Kondo said. According to him, the support he feels from Miku has allowed him to rejoin society and live a healthier life.

Honestly, I don't blame him. Dating is a ***show now days and has been - speaking for men here, the experience is wildly different if you're a pretty girl - since online dating became a thing.
