That means BFA without more details. If your 3box has ***gear, probably 123. If you have good gear, you can probably push to 127 with negligible loss in time.

Track your climb time, then bump it up a level or 2 and see if the time loss outweighs the extra units.

Ok. I usually with effort am completing ilvl135 with alot of effort and it takes me 3 to 4 hrs to clear both Limbus areas. Sometimes I take breaks in between. I rock my main with wither rdm, mnk, and sometimes thf and war. And I have a pocketbrd and whm with me. They all gear'd with rema, r25 nyamae etc. I might give I'll 127 a go around.

I do 135 with DRG BRD COR. I guess well geared or at least decent. Takes roughly 50mins to clear each chest.

I'm presuming thats 3-4 hours in each area to do four climbs (4+code), which is a solid time. ~52 minutes per climb isnt a high number.

Drop it to 130 and see how much time you save. If you're not starving for units and can drop that to 40 minutes per climb, might be worth it.

But this is a personal question, we cant tell you whats best for you to do. I'm contemplating dropping my chars to 130 because I'd rather save 5 minutes per climb at this point and if I need RP, I'll just EP in a zone for an hour or so.

It takes me 40-45 minutes to clear each zone (little longer for Apollyon at this point) with tribox. I play DRK BRD COR and run 130 in Apollyon and 135 in Temenos.

It really depends on your gear but I think based on what you said you have, 135 is probably fine. As others have said, it comes down to how much time you're willing to spend on Limbus every week. If you have the time, setting a higher level means more units/week; lowering ilvl only saves you time but you'll spend it farming units anyway...

FWIW, I did the monster math a little while back when Temenos units were changed and even assuming 2 5k/week, you'll get more than enough units to upgrade all your armor when running at 135, assuming 1 code and 4 climbs/week. It doesn't give you much leeway to upgrade JSE, though it also doesn't include a second ??? (which would be extra bonus units).

A lot of ifs here, but IF you don't need anymore +4 armor, you should be able to run at 119 in a 6 person/trust party and have units not be the limiting factor in augments.

Correct me if I'm wrong on these values, but assuming 2x ??? from apollyon, 1x from temenos, 2x lucky chests per week from each zone and 3 matters per week from each zone, as well as only doing 4 runs since you're using one code each week, you're getting 26,320 units from Temenos and 31,816 from apollyon at 119 and 6 people/trusts in a party.

Temenos = (60 per floor * 4 floors * 3 towers * 4 runs) + (120 per floor * 3 floors * 1 tower * 4 runs) + (3000*3 nq chests) + (5000*2 hq chests) + 3000 from the ??? = 26,320

Similar for appolyon, (108 per floor * 4 floors * 2 towers * 4 runs) + (84per floor * 5 floors * 2 tower * 4 runs) + (3000*3 nq chests) + (5000*2 hq chests) + (3000*2 from the two ???) = 31,816

Let's assume 3 matters from each area per week (based on my data) and 14 shards per week (4x HQ chests = 8, 6x nq chests = 6).

If you're starting completely from scratch, by week 10 you have all your matters. By week 11 you have all your units and shards.

There is a situation where you use your units haphazardly and end up needing a 12th week, but you can definitely use units in a way that takes it down to 11 weeks to get enough of both units and shards.

Of course you can also buy shards, and maybe you have more +4 stuff, or maybe your server doesn't get the temenos ??? every week, maybe you're solo and actually get more units than this. Lots of ifs, but because the pain point of this content is how gd long it takes, doing it at 119 without units being a limiting factor is IMO worthwhile to consider.

Please check my math lol. The weekly usage chart if interested!

Can someome make sense of this?

I changed my CL down to 130 2 weeks ago because I dont care for units right now but figured I'd save a bit of time on climbs. Turns out I dont save any time at all. I've done 5/5 Apollyon climbs for the week, I've done 3/5 Temenos climbs and I'm holding one temp item (floor refarm after opening box).

When I change Temenos to CL135, nothing happens other than the expected CL change.
When I change Apollyon to CL135, on top of the expected CL change, I get a message that "Data collection progress has been reset".

Why would this warning pop up only in Apollyon, and why would my data collection be reset if I've finished for the week?

Doubt its that, last I checked, bars reset when you leave the area.

Just confirmed that:
Killed one mob in N1
Zoned to AlTaieu and back
Ported back to N1
Bar is zeroed out

Is the new grip replace enki grip for BLM?

I would assume so, -10 int, +21 macc/20 mdmg.

Depends on target (maybe), but i highly doubt it.

Macc isn't relevant most of the time and mdmg is a TERRIBLE stat for high tier nukes. INT, however, is quite good and can be extremely relevant.

No. For high level spells, 1 INT is worth around 4 mdmg. It's not close.

It varies slightly by spell, so see https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Magic_Damage#Calculating_D
The "M" value is approximately how much mdmg 1 INT is worth for each spell/dINT level.

Bit of a random question, but I’ve been playing on Steam Deck more often than not lately and both Limbus zones are abysmally laggy for me, to the extent that Gearswap fails to work (e.g. leaves me in WS sets or midcast sets, etc). I’ve tried Packetflow and changing the clipping plan setting in game to no avail. I’ve also had this issue playing both with a Lumoria prefix currently and with a Lutris prefix in the past before Temenos was made shorter. Has anyone else who’s encountered this problem found a solution?

Just a follow-up about this to help out people coming in from a search to avoid a Wisdom of the Ancients situation.

This issue on Steam Deck (and Steam Machine too, incidentally) can be resolved by disabling SMT (simultaneous multi-threading). You can do this via Decky's Power Tools plug-in or (if like me, you've had nothing but trouble with Decky) you can disable SMT until reboot via a terminal command - see here.
While I do also have a Linux install on a regular PC with an AMD processor, I haven't had the time or gusto to set up Lumoria there and check to see if it's still an issue or if this is more about the low-power/mobile hardware the SteamOS devices use (it probably is).

I am not a wise and ancient programmer, so I don't know if this is something that can be eventually fixed or smoothed out. Just sharing the workaround that works for me now.

Math seems right. 11 to 12 weeks to get 1 piece from 0 to R30. With the number you provided, 54.15 weeks to get a full set to R30 with the limiting factor being units.
More than a year where you do not upgrade the ring, the earring nor any relic/AF.

Still very bummed that Temenos units have been nerfed to the ground in an update that claimed "Our goal with these changes is to reduce the number of runs necessary to take on the content, and also to make it more accessible. I feel like those of you that have played Limbus multiple times will be more likely to notice these changes. Therefore, it is our hope that the content will be somewhat easier to pick up and play than before."

Assuming the same unit reward in both zone would result in lowering the amount of week needed (with your numbers) from 54.15 to 49.48. 5 less weeks of grind.

Units are not even remotely a problem if you're fighting on a high ilvl. His numbers are for ilvl 119. In reality, at ilvl 130/135, you will have more units than you know what to do with. Lots of people cap their units out because all their JSE is done and they have nothing to spend them on.

You can also EXP in Limbus on those mobs if you need more units and get a bunch for your JSE. Unit are not, and will never, be a restricting factor unless you don't spend time in Limbus.

The real problem with Limbus 2025 is that it's boring as all holy hell, not the balance of the units or matters.

I like these definitive answer pulled right from where the sun never shine.
I've been doing limbus for month, earring and ring to R30 and 2 pieces to R30.

Doing Temenos in a group at 135 and Apollyon solo at 125. All the runs, every week, for months.
I have 7 jewels ready for upgrade, and not enough units to upgrade past R28.
Even if i cap the remaining 80k unit per zone i can get, i'll still get stuck when jewels are spent.
Units are definetly a bottleneck for a lot of ppl who are not a botter, or a 6-p2w'er, or a long time player. Ppl i know who drown in unit are matter unlucky.

I don't know anything about heaven or hell, or about limbus being boring, but having definitive statements about the state of the game pulled from someones imagination is not the way to advance arguments.

Anyways, the problem is matters. 40% load rate on NQ with black boxes. This should be 100%.

Yeah, you got earring and ring and 2 pieces to R30 in a month. You got 90 Alabaster Matter and 90 Murky matter in a month.

If you're going to lie so brazenly, atleast make it mathematically logical, even if it implies getting HQ box 100% of the time and somehow not being subject to unit caps.

Theres a missing letter here, I just dont know where the typo is. Is this supposed to be "I've been doing limbus for months" or "I've been doing limbus for a month"?

I haven't really done it enough to have noticed. So they chopped off a few floors from the towers but didn't adjust units per floor so we'd still get the same units for a full run? I assume an oversight hopefully.

Here ya go, for the mathematically challenged:
Apollyon:
4 Climbs at 135 per week: 4*((308*10)+(396*8))+(3000*3)+(5000)
2 codes + 1 box (9000)
Total: 47,992

Temenos:
4 climbs at 135 per week: 4*((220*12)+(440*3))+(3000*3)+(5000)
2 codes + 1 box (9000)
Total: 38,840

Assuming the absolute worst possible luck (actually a bit worse than the worst possible luck).

An armor piece takes 629,650 units to upgrade, that's an average of 20,988 (let's call it 21k) units per rank, on average.

86,832 / 21,000 means you can upgrade A BIT OVER 4 ranks per week. Are you getting 5 Alabaster and 5 Murky matters per week? How are you running out of units?

edit to steelman the other side: Earring/Ring expenditures should be double these (since they only require 1 matter, not 2), but again...how many earrings are you making? As soon as you get on the armor path you're shitting out 10s of thousands of units a week that you can't spend (or that you have available for JSE)

This is exactly what happened. The issue has been mostly raised on the japanese side of the official forum, but no dice.

I wish this was my experience, but it's not. Start at 0 post january update, Do mostly solo on 119 until you can convince people to not listen to the "limbus is bad" crowd, then do 135 when they are available.
As "AegParm" showed, starting from scratch and doing 119, units and matter loosely tracks (edit: with units lagging slightly behind). Their "3 matter per zone per week" being a bit optimistic in my experience.

If someone did not gather unit without upgrading anything or upgraded JSE while gathering a few matter here and there, the bottleneck is units.
Early Rank you spend units as soon as you get matter, later ranks you spend matter as soon as you get units.

You wouldn't make enough units to get rank 30 in the time it took you to get 30 matters of each type at I119 even before the floors were cut down. When limbus first came out and all we had to grind for was accessories, one of the people I'm friends with did a lot of soloing on I119. He got his alabaster earring to rank 25 well ahead of the rest of the people I was doing limbus with. The bulk of us just did runs off and on at the time since armor sets hadn't been announced yet, but he capped his runs per week. Once he got to rank 20+ and especially 25+ he ran out of units and was forced to swap back to I135. You would only get 10k ish units for a full run even before the floor adjustment, and the final ranks are 35 to 50+ K units, so it took 3 to 5 runs worth of units per augment level.

I135 is a large step up in units from I119. If you stick to I135 you'll have more than enough units for your armor even with the current iteration of limbus. If you do I119 you'll have to catchup units somehow. That's always been the case. It's just even more pronounced now.

huh? The math has been posted several times, even a couple times on this page. Even at 119 with weekly ??? clicks, units are not a limiting factor unless youre doing af/relic armor at the same time.

Temenos = (60 per floor * 4 floors * 3 towers * 4 runs) + (120 per floor * 3 floors * 1 tower * 4 runs) + (3000*3 nq chests) + (5000*2 hq chests) + 3000 from the ??? = 26,320

Similar for appolyon, (108 per floor * 4 floors * 2 towers * 4 runs) + (84per floor * 5 floors * 2 tower * 4 runs) + (3000*3 nq chests) + (5000*2 hq chests) + (3000*2 from the two ???) = 31,816

Again, all the numbers are freely available to anyone. We don't need go go off memories, anecdotes, or stories. We have the data. You can estimate the number of 5k chests, matter, etc and come up with exact results.

This assumes 2 5k chests a week, which is probably reasonable but a bit less conservative than my approach. At 119 you get 58,136/week (also assuming only one ???, though I think you're likely to get 2, in my recent experience). That's enough to upgrade about 3 ranks of armor per week, so unless you get 4 of each matter per week, your units will keep up with the matters at 119.

IMO, the issue is that when people are in the low ranks they say "oh ***, I've got tons of units, lemme make some JSE!" then they get to the high ranks and it becomes "oh crap, I don't have enough units" so they assume their units aren't keeping up with their matter and it's impossible (at 119 or 135 or whatever). The real problem is they don't know how to save/budget.

Looking at a grand scale, in one year you get:
52 * 5 = 260 boxes. Assuming worst possible luck, that's 65*5000 and 195*3000. Box units per year = 325,000+585,000 = 910,000, per zone. 1,820,000 Total
52 * 2 = 104 ??? clicks. 312,000 per zone, 624,000 total.
52 * 4 = 208 climbs. To break this down by Ilvl/Zone:
Temenos 119: ((60*12)+(120*3))*208 = 224,640
Apollyon 119: ((108*8)+(84*10))*208 = 354,432
Total 119 (climbs): 579,072
Total 119 (everything): 3,023,072
This is enough units to upgrade 4.8 pieces of armor, which takes 144 matters. You have 65 guaranteed, so that means you need 79/195 (40%) chance of matter from your 3k boxes for the matter to keep up with units. This is an average of 2.8 matters per week.

Temenos 135: ((220*12)+(440*3))*208 = 823,680
Apollyon 135: ((396*8)+(308*10))*208 = 1,299,584
Total 135 (climbs): 2,123,264
