Why Are Hounds Undead? Where Are All The Dogs?!

Sitting around waiting with a few friends to get through some cutscenes. We hear wolf cries in the ambiance.

"There are wolves?"

-"yeah they are hounds beast type."

"the undead ones?"

-"they are all undead, apparently."

"WHY?! Is fenrir undead!? Is fenrir a not a wolf?"

-"what?"

"WHERE ARE ALL THE DOGS!?"

-"What? I guess we dont have any? I dunno."

"WHERE. ARE. THE DOGS?"

So yeah guys... where the hell are all the dogs? why are hounds only undead? Thank you for your time and attention.

Have you... Ever seen a farm anywhere other than that old dude with 3 sheeps in Selbina that can supply a billion ton of milk a day? So where did all the flour came from?

Hounds belonged to the soldiers, who used them in war (mostly Elvaan it seems). When they died and became fomor their hounds did too. The naming and placement of them obviously implies that.

As to why there are no dogs today, you can think up reasons. The Shadow Lord supposedly created Gnoles, it's possible he converted the dogs/wolves into gnoles and they were later wiped out because of that.

The taru ate them.

I mean like 50% of rolanberry is farmland at least, but that's just vanadiels entire wine supply for tarus to get blasted on.

Grains though apparently come from San d'oria but I ain't ever seen a single farm there.

Chocobo guy has like a tiny *** little garden... is that the entire world's supply of grains? It'd explain a lot.

Who needs farms when you can have an army of enslaved eagerly helpful moogles tending to endless sweatshops cozy and well-furnished mog houses full of flower pots?

Sure, our moogles can only handle 10 pots at a time, but we just showed up in town one day and took over the first empty house we found; surely people who actually paid for their homes must have access to higher quality moogles that can produce a hundred plants in a week.

As for the dogs though... well, ask yourself, why would dogs be a common sight in a world where one of the dominant species is catgirls who just so happen to have close racial ties to the hunt and kill things from afar job?
