Exact Search

Is there anyway to do an exact search for characters or items?

It isn't such a big deal for items but for character search partial matches can waste a lot of time.

Think you need to be a little more detailed in your question. I'll assume you are using the search boxes on the top left of page. I've never had issues with exact searches, as long as they are spelled right. If you are looking for a character, make sure you change the server to zero in on the right person.

For example if you search for Exa on Phoenix you'll get a list of ten different characters on the Phoenix server because they are partial matches for Exa.

Ah, i see your point there. I assume thats one of the ways of trying to remember someone, or something's name. (if you cant remember spelling) I dont know of any other way of doing that kind of thing.

I might know what you mean by items though. I do recall having that kind of issue with items. Albeit, very rarely. I will usually try something simpler to find what I'm looking for. Also correct spelling and spacing does matter for some items.

I don't think you can do it with the player search right now. You can alternatively just type it in the url:
http://www.ffxiah.com/Phoenix/Exa

Although, this might not be any faster.

That works. I can just program a G key to enter all but the name. Thanks.
