Well I think you would need to be careful how you tracked it.

I'd probably just stop at first ITG personally, for maximum data probably try and always open 9 chests, but you'll fail a lot.

I'd probably track it like: orbs used, average chest opened per orb, #thuds, #loud thuds, #ITG, #fails, #successes

300 vouchers would be around 18-19 orbs of each type for each char, not sure if that's a meaningful sample size, assuming you tried to open 9 chests and an even distribution i'd expect you'd probably get the mimic first try ~2, and ~2 full opens. If you stop after first ITG or 2 LT or something you'd have better success but less data.

If we community sourced the data (kinda like how Treasure Hunter was done on the original wiki before guildwork tracked it) probably get better results but, its still messy and would have some selection bias to it.

Surely not! However, if you're going to do a hundred 1k TP WSs with Fotia, I'd use both so we get maximum resolution. You're likely to exceed or match both your extrema for the 1k set with that sample size anyway, so you may as well have it with better resolution.
By melphina on 2026-02-13 08:53:39
Do you think it would be more efficient to scrap the numbers I collected and start over with 2 fotia pieces?

The fotia gorget should be all we need to determine the fTP scaling values if I get proper range spreads.

This is technically true, but ultimately the base damage is something like:
DHigh = (MinLow with - Low without)/(25/256)
DLow = (MinLow without - Low with)/(25/256)

So, if you are using 50/256 instead of 25/256, you have twice the effect size (for the delta) and denominator. however, because you multipled the numerator and denominator by 2, rounding becomes less significant.

Any tips or tricks for some kind of inventory management regimen?

How are people handling inventory these days or are people simply auto dropping itemIDs that are known to be of zero value? Just curious. Thanks!

Use ClosetCleaner it will cross check everything in your inventory with everything in your gearswaps and creates a text file letting you know how much everything is used.

I always find a insect wing (or some junk) hiding somewhere and a few pieces of gear that go unused. It'll also catch typos in gearswap.
By Aspens on 2026-02-13 08:34:20
Fotia is ftp +0.1 not pdif

You can use solver to find (x+0.1)/x = minfotia/min
This gives you an ftp value that ignores stats, pdif, fstr, wpn dmg, wsd, pdl only dependent on keeping those things constant and randomizer (which you are eliminating with sample spread)
By Lutia on 2026-02-13 08:26:51
Sigh.
By Tarage on 2026-02-13 08:03:30
Sorry for the necro: I have two mules with 300 vouchers saved up on each. I was thinking of running both of them on different orbs; one mars, one venus, and seeing what the spread is.

Do you think this is something worth doing? Is the sample size big enough? Or am I wasting my time?

Likewise should I aim for ILT or just LT?

Note that, in typical SE fashion, there are other sources of pdif+ that work like the trait but aren't traits.

The fotia items with wsd+10 are actually pdif+0.1.

Those are all added on top of native pdif, so it comes out to (<native pdif>+<trait pdif>+<pdif from fotia gear>)*(<pdif from pdl+ in gear>+<prime aftermath>+<aria>).

Fotia is + 25/256 fTP not pdif :)

Back again please with few more questions about Mboze RP if you will allow.

I want to see how BLU will do and wanted to ask about spell set and maybe a melee set.

This is spell set i used for V25 clear but i wasnt engaged so not sure if the spell lineup is still best.
Any spells i should change around?

For TP set I was thinking:
Or would move Nyame/etc be better over Malignance?

Went with friends last night as DRK and it worked alright but the SP reset needed and possible bad luck kinda stunk. Took some PUGs but they didnt do great. So just trying to figure out best way with jobs we have. No RUN i think my BST could land ooze if we had RUN but not sure. Anyway thanks again and Happy Friday the 13th!

The simplest version I've found that fits most of the data is 3/7/11 with 45%/45%. It doesn't seem to be worth going more granular than that with my (low) level of certainty about the order the flooring steps are applied in + uncertainty about the magnitude of modifier, because you can kind of make anything from 25% to 45% fit at this point.

If you try to fit into just 1000TP data then yes. If you try to fit into ALL the data he provided. It's much more narrow.

I've been enjoying XICamera and want to thank you for your efforts!

Could XICamera be able to effectively lock the camera height relative to the character height, or perhaps be able to resync to a certain height with every lock-on or /command or something?

I ask because as the character moves and the camera pans, the camera tends to slide toward the ground and I'm constantly having to raise it back up, only to have it drop back to the ground after moving again. Shift+Up is now my most common keypress in the game :)

On Su5 weapons - IMO other than for cor, the only paths worth looking into are B (Subtle blow) and C (job specific).

Path A is basically Empyrean-lite. If you want that, might as well make an empyrean weapon for that job.

Path B is super niche and depends on the job whether it gets used or not. For most jobs it has fallen out of favour due to better weapon options and better subtle blow options in gear.

For pup the mythic weapon is a TP building machine. Su5 path C for the pet stats. For mnk godhands is where it's at. AFAIK the mnk su5 is a pretty weak weapon.

Both those jobs are dropping a lot of dmg and utility by switching to path A SU5.

While i think udug is still probably the best, herculean giving int+15/mab+25(think herc gets macc+mab too so maybe macc/mab+25) on puppet could be useful in its own right given how limited that is and how important it is for V nukes

Path B will gain TP significantly faster, it's "extra hit +1", 50% of the time. On MNK, that stacks with Kick Attacks, so you get 2 extra attacks per attack round, if they proc.

I disagree. STP+25 will apply to both fists plus the kick attacks, adding 25% (to the base), 3 times. You can also DA, TA, or QA and all of those will get STP, potentially SKYROCKETING the value of the STP. FUA will only ever be 1 extra swing. 50% of the time.
By Nariont on 2026-02-12 23:53:40
May be better off just posting your TP sets, but at minimum a 3 step on either job shouldnt be that difficult unless as stated you're under haste cap, alternatively not capping acc which may happen solo on something like THF fomors or something

Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked a million times but does Path A and B of most su4/5 weapons, which one offers faster TP gain?

Background info but was considering making a MNK su4/5 for fun since I saw someone in a sortie run 4-step a fomor by themselves and they mentioned they're using a Sagitta and 100% kick-rate set

Base - 14
Merits - 5
Neck - 25
Empy legs - 30
cape - 10
af+3/4 - 10
-----
94% KA. Where's the other 6%? Footwork?

RDM is my fastest TP generating job for solo-SCing and I can't even get TP that fast, but also my MNK with godhands and BGWiki TP set doesn't generate nearly as much TP that fast.

This seems like a bigger problem. With a proper enhancing magic set for Temper II and Malignance 4/5+Bunzi hat (or even 5/5), self SCing on RDM is kinda effortless. Even with zero buffs this is easy, so I would reconsider your RDM sets if you are struggling to self SC.

As far as MNK goes, Godhands are slower H2H but self SCing is still possible with them. Keep in mind you need Martial Arts in gear to cap delay with Godhands with capped magical haste (a single Mache Earring +1, but even that is not needed to self SC). Sagitta Path B would help you SC faster, but you kinda shouldn't need that to accomplish it either. Are you certain you're capped on magical haste? It shouldn't really be that hard to self SC on MNK with the BG wiki set. Also, that set assumes R30 Odyssey gear, so if your Schere earring and Mpaca's Doublet isn't R30, you're lacking 13 STP. But even that shouldn't make it impossible to self SC on MNK, so I think there's something else going on with not being haste capped.
By maletaru on 2026-02-12 23:45:14
The two effects are pretty simple to understand, but the answer to path A vs path B isn't totally clear because it depends on the job, specifically the STP value you have on your gear and whether you're dual wielding or not.

STP (path A) applies to both hands, so if you're dual-wielding it's more likely to be advantageous. I would say this applies to MNK as well, with 2 fists (plus kicks).

Follow-up attacks apply only to the hand wielding the weapon, but it's twice as potent (50% instead of 25 STP). It also takes advantage of all the STP you already have, where STP is additive. With high STP single weapon builds, this can pull ahead. Unfortunately the most it can give is 1 extra hit per round, whereas STP could apply to all 4 hits of a quad-attack, or 6 hits of two triple attacks, etc.

I would say generally, the STP is going to be the better value, though there are some corner cases where FUA is better. You also have to consider the value of SB II vs ODD.

Am I losing it or did the chocobo circuit used to have an auction house just off to the side room when you zone in? There's a whole room there that looks like an auction house counter but has absolutely nothing targetable in it.

Vagrant Story on PS1 was a RPG from square soft which had multi attacks although they don't work with a % chance like they do in FFXI. IIRC you could chain multiple attacks in a row, quite a lot of them IF you have the right timing and the window gets smaller each time you add one to the chain.

In the original Final Fantasy I, as you leveled, you would get multi-hit attacks. Monk could get up to 8 attacks and fighter up to 6 or so depending on the mob.
