Running ad-hoc queries has no cost on the DB side, it has a cost on the human side.

Someone has to write it specifically, which means paying someone to write a one-off thing for XI. Previously there was no one to do that.

Oh, I just noticed a neat little side bonus for the new TH ring, (for those that care) technically it's now possible to do TH4 on any job with just accessories. Chaac Belt, TH ammo from VR, and the new Hoax Ring.
This is my intent. How much is it selling for?

2 on AH, but no sales yet. People still trying to gouge them.

Its stupid, but its less stupid than a random system that is 25% chance every time.

Under your smart system:
Chest 1 is 25% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus
Chest 2 is 25% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus
Chest 3 is 25% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus
Chest 4 is 25% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus

Under this stupid system:
Chest 1 is 25% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus
Chest 2 is 33% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus
Chest 3 is 50% chance, if you didnt hit the bonus
Chest 4 is 100% chance, you will hit the bonus

No, you didn't quite get what I was saying I meant the floor not the whole tower. Random chance when you kill the amount of enemies required to teleport up, like 10-15%, and then a 100% chest no matter what chest it is.

I hope that it demonstrates the "server side" improvements they've made are starting to pay off. If DB Access is easier, running queries is easier, and applying changes like that are easier it implies a team with better knowledge of what is possible.

I missed that 90%/10% part, sorry about that.

Well, your setup looks very good Darkwaffle. The things I pointed out are extremely minimal and I know I've been doing this years ago with a setup way worse than yours.
So what could the difference be? I guess JPs and ML.
ML not so much because I probably didn't have MLs back then.
I guess maybe 2100 JPs vs 180 is a bigger difference than I assumed, maybe?

Any ideas what I can do to try to secure the kill in Overdrive?
To secure the kill? Why, isn't it already secured with the setup you posted?

They're only doing 90% of the damage in OD and the rest after it wears off.

I'd ask if you notice your automaton struggling to keep the skillchains going? Taeon is clutch here because it keeps your pet alive and keeps the skillchains and damage rolling. Unlocking more job gifts would also benefit a lot.

The only other thing I can think of would be using a more DD oriented maneuver build until the frog uses SP, the switch one out for water and turtle up.

I was about to say that things are different, that all those repetitive activities you mentioned and many more are "well structured" and different from Chocobo Digging and many of those old 2002 thought activities plagued by bad game design, ugly UI, unskippable cut-scenes, no real purpose and blah blah but... when I tried to think about objective differences that would emphasize my point of view and make it obvious, I had to face the real obviousness: I'm simply biased.

You're absolutely right on what you were trying to say and I do apologize for my previous rant (which was only half a joke, half real)

I miss when anime was good. Now I just feel old.

I already wondered about this one, and I feel like there is a factor of personal changes in one affinity throughout the years, what is normal.

It is less about the quality but more about the how we have enough of a certain genre as well how the overall affinities changes through generation.

For example: back when I was younger, i really enjoyed shonen. Dragon Ball, Naruto, Yoyo Hakusho were all stories I loved.

But after getting older, shonen doesnt ressonate with me anymore. Demons Slayer, Deadly Sins, Jujutsu Kaisen were all “modern” age stories that I really had a lot of work getting into, and nowadays I barely remember the arcs.

Those school romcoms that I used to like nowaday are almost unbearable.

In contrast, seinen, mature roncom (like using adults in adult environments) as well some experimental sttories constantly became more interesting through the years. Stories like Chainsaw Man wasone of the most entertaining stories I read so far. Currently reading Spy x Family and its being very fun. Rent a Girlfriend (romcom with young adults) was interesting till the mangaka decided to farm over air. Another one, Dr Stone was interesting. Hunter X Hunter is a no brainer. Experimental stories like Blame really were hidden gems to me.

So yeah, I dont feel like the inspiration and creativity simply vanished. I do think many genres just doesnt work for me anymore, as well I suppose some modern age tendencies Im also having trouble getting used to it

Yay.

This week Im having a lot of (good) luck with RNG.

Got 1h30m of recording (after resetting like 5h) in short more than 1 day, what is insane compared with what I had of bad luck last week.

For the 100000th times Im wondering: “maybe this is finally the ultimate one?”

We will see

Water.
Uhm, I did a few runs yesterday with Fire, Light and Wind (to cap magic haste, I was using a single turbo charger) but that's bad, should've used double turbo charger and no wind maneuver to still cap.
My pet has never even remotely been in danger because of damage received with just Mana jammer 4, but I guess I've been lucky.
I'll try Fire, Light and Water next time, with double turbo charger.
I need to doublecheck my attachments but I probably was using Dynamo II in place of Turbo Charger I. Rest of attachments was the same as yours.
Run was over in a bit less than 3 mins, which was unusually slow considering yesterday I had a COR friend giving me Beast Roll and Companion's Roll.

To secure the kill? Why, isn't it already secured with the setup you posted? Have you did some runs where you ran out of Overdrive time and the Frog was still alive?
Your setup seems good to me, the kill should be already "secure".
If you wanna make things better I suggest using Miyamoto's setup on Maneuvers and Attachments, with VE/VE head/frame, see my message above.

Concering your other questions, I do have Taeon Hands/Legs/Feet which are frankly the best for this type of content. Then Anwig Salade and Relic+3 body.
Actually for when Overdrive is up, I use Empy+3 head (Acc is useless when OD is up, but TP+600 is extremely good, especially for people with Xiucoatl, granted that me and you don't have it alas)
Removing Anwig Salade might mean no geear haste for pet though, so it might not be worth it, depends on the rest of your gear.

But I digressed, you asked for options other than Taeon. I've done this Ambuscade w/o any Taeon in the past, so it's totally doable!
Few items I can suggest that are not Taeon to improve your set, which tbh sounds very very good to me already.

Incarnation Sash
Cath Palug Ring

To be fair in this specific setup I'm not even sure Taeon hands would be better than Naga.
You don't need the additional DT and if Miyamoto is to believe you don't need the additional Att either.
So it's about DA+5% vs WSD+10% and honestly given the short fight and OD up, I wouldn't be surprised to see Naga above Taeon in the hands slot.

Concerning your question on the Level+1 now.
On feet probably Taeon is better, but I'm confident Mpaca is very close behind, so close I wouldn't bother in your place.
And for Sroda there was a detailed series of posts in this thread, I think it was a very very good earring, better than what might seem at start. Wouldn't bother too much vs Enmerkar.
Enmerkar vs Karagoz might be harder to evaluate, I'd stay with Karagoz though.

for racing you want high str a little endurance high discernment and decent receptivity. mostly focusing on str and discernment to run at cap speed and leave the gate faster. endurance doesn't do much so about 30 35 is fine. receptivity allows you to avoid items other chocos use which is kinda nice.
my bird has high str endurance and low discernment and receptivity it isn't perfect but I can get my 150 points a day easy. I can't win all the quest races though with my set up.

I recommend the sky blue silk for skilling at earlier lvls just to get it done quicker maybe around 7+ switch to blue since you can actually make a little money.
I dig daily on 8 chars 1 rank 8 the other 7 rank 5 and pull about 800k every other day but it'll be much higher when I switch from sky blue to blue and they all rank up to 7+

the digging section or the raising guide is a good place to look also googling ffxi choco raising plans to see which stats each plans give, will give a good idea

to the previous post
dig bots been around a long time. very easy to make. just need navigation and a way to spam dig. very easy to achieve. there is even dig hacks now that can allow you to fatigue in about 2 mins. digs happen without the animation and can dig hundreds of times a minute. lua are available for digging, programs exist and have for many years.

choco ropes and silks can be sent to chars on the same account. hardest part about having multiple diggers is getting past the limit breaks to equip the lvl 85 choco rope.

and digging you want endurance and receptivity. str and discernment really don't do much, discern to save on greens but meh. bore or burrow is alright for mats but if you want to focus on the good stuff just treasure finder no bore or burrow

Most activities in FFXI are extremely repetititve but activities like the old version of fishing or chocobo digging are 100% designed around bots. You can tell that there went zero effort into them and no one in the design process asked themself whether this is fun or not.

Stuff like this is fine to occupy the OCD no lifers (actually it's not fine, it's sinister) and botters as long as no real rewards are attached to them. The fact that they now force it on everyone for BiS rewards is just evil.

The most two interesting items of this update, Hoxne Ampulla and Earring, primarily seem to cater towards players who take shortcuts and automate.

It's sad.

It's really sad how you just assume everything you don't like is a bot or an RMT.

Loads of people enjoy fishing, some people enjoy chocobo digging, and lot of people like doing crap like MMM, Monstrosity, etc. Very few people are botting chocobo digging (I've never even heard of a chocobo digging bot), nobody is botting MMM, or monstrosity, or campaign ops.

Most of the mastery rank stuff isn't botted, it's just for people who are bored or like checklists or whatever.

Also: having gil isn't "taking shortcuts and automating". Some people make gil by playing the game, not by automating or "taking shortcuts", whatever the hell that means.

You know what, as long as I'm asking really stupid questions - is there a way to track your lifetime Moblin Maze Mongers clears?

Like, I know I'm short of 1,000 because they won't sell me that title. But I have no idea how short.

Yes, you can, but not without third party software.

I wrote an addon for MMM to speed up various parts of the grind, and one of the things I found in the menu parameters of one of the NPCs is a count of total maze clears. I verified this by clearing mazes on multiple chars and always seeing it increment exactly by the amount I did, and when it ticked from 499 to 500 I was able to buy the fourth title.

I can see if I can throw together a really simple addon that would just spit out the specific parameter if there's enough desire for it, right now it was just part of the overall one I wrote that lets me command line deal with the NPCs so I'd have to split the logic out.

On an unrelated note, you can client side modify those same parameters so it thinks you have 1000+ and it'll let you buy the title, which is pretty funny. Tested that for shits and giggles on an alt with only 3 clears and now it's a Maze Overlord. But you won't be able to re-buy the title for 1 marble unless you modify it again. So I could cheat that title, but eh, I'm halfway there and I'd rather have it legit so I could swap it back any time I wanted.

Care to share the tracker?

By Resolution DRK I mean DRK using Resolution, not just WS itself. So yes it's both WS frequency and WS damage. Prime DRK is still slightly ahead, but Resolution can be used for situation where you want to avoid skillchains with Savage etc. Also for infinity scission-detonation with prime WS. Also while being probably the best with Prime Great sword, Resolution setup can be done with many great swords.
