I wanted to share my own thoughts about this as well. Someone recently noted smarttarget, and I wanted to also compare it to ata. For context, I tend to do a lot of Dynamis (not D) solo/with trusts, and these kinds of tools are very nice to have. I have been using smarttarget for a long time, but was getting annoyed with how it completely took over the targeting logic and would sometimes constantly switch between two mobs, not letting you hit either, often resulting in death since you couldn't get trusts to engage.
So, to start, that issue simply doesn't exist with ata. It only tries to switch once, and I've never had an issue manually switching to something else. I have, however, run into situations where what my client has targeted (locked onto) is different from what the server has me targeted (based on "unable to see" type log messages). It's generally easy to see, and simply "switching" to what I already have targeted easily fixes it. I think the tradeoff of not having to deal with the chance of constantly switching is worth it, but wanted to call it out.
One thing I also had to get used to was, with smarttarget, I could just engage on any mob (regardless of how far away it was - so, for example, the first mob I aggrod in a train, who often tends to be in the back of a train) and it would automatically pick better/closer targets. With ata I have to be smarter about the initial engagement, but this is a minor thing and I have gotten used to it pretty quick.
One final comparison I'd like to point out is that smarttarget, when it changes targets, will automatically turn your character to face them. This is nice when you are being swamped by a large group of mobs, since it means you can generally engage and not have to do anything for 75% of mobs (until you've killed all the melee and now need to do ranged/magic types). I do wish ata would do this, if possible, but just moving slightly after each kill obviously accomplishes the same thing.
I love how much more flexible ata is about choosing targets. For a while I was leaving the "target same" option on, but now I really just leave it on a simple "target closest" setting. Having those options (compared to smarttarget's simpler config) is awesome.
I also love the UI hate list. I've generally not had any issues with it, though sometimes mobs will be on the list even after I've killed everything. A simple clear resolves it, and it doesn't seem to cause any problems in that state. However, I do think it would be nice to have an option to sort the list - ideally so it's in the same order as you would engage things so it's more practical from an information standpoint, instead of your engagement hopping around the list. Even without sorting, having an easy to read glance of how many mobs I have left and a quick health check (for example, to see if an AoE WS might clear a lot of them) is something I greatly enjoy having, even if it didn't come with auto target functionality.
There is a note that some mobs won't appear on the hate list, and thus won't be auto-targeted. In my case, the Overlord's Tombstone in Dynamis - San d'Oria is one of these. The two assists that spawn with it work fine, but the statue never gets added to the list. I don't have an issue with this (and I understand it's not something you can do anything about), but I noticed that if I align myself so the normal auto-target would switch to it, I will switch but then ata will disengage me - which implies that ata will trigger me to stop attacking when it's hate list is empty. I think this is a bad call, and would suggest instead just make ata not do anything. I can't really think of any situation where I would want ata to explicitly disengage me when the default system would keep me engaged (maybe something with the blacklist where I never want to engage a particular mob). I think ata still handles this situation better than smarttarget, which has to be entirely disabled for my Dynamis example in order to engage the statue, but it think it can still be improved.
In all, I think ata is a giant improvement over smarttarget. The slight downsides (such as being perceived as laggier because it's not taking control over your targets as hard) are more than offset by the advantages and improvements. Thank you so much for this, and keep up the amazing work!

To share a bit of my own, I have stage4 staff. I've been 2boxing limbus on 119 with smn/sch and geo/whm, sch sub for sneak and invis and whm sub for banish on ghosts and corpse lights. I use arciela 1 as she will haste 2 my smn, monb and Cornelia.
Oshala > Flaming crush doing 40-90k with a fragmentation kills most things, if it doesn't I have my geo burst aero or thunder 4/5 for 30k+ to finish it. Oshala also does 10-23k depending what tp it gets used at. Bubbles frailty and malaise, tag with dia2.
I haven't bothered to see at what level break it becomes more hassle than is worth, maybe when I have time I'll test it out, but for now I've been trying to squeeze in as many chests as possible not caring about my capped points (nothing to spend on yet)

Just 5-manned a normal mode 9 boss with MNK BRD COR GEO RDM. Ampulla MNK puts in a lot of work now. There's a lot of room for improvement also since our GEO doesn't melee and only the MNK dealt any damage to Aminon this run when the BRD COR and GEO could easily throw out some WSs here and there. MNK Sortie is fun.

Faster way it seems was to do Volt Strike > Flaming Crush > Meteor Strike MB, Was doing about 50k Volt Strike > 99999 Flaming Crush > 99999 Meteor Strike. Super easy and fast kills.

Rank 7 Currently (started at rank 6 last week Doing Bastok & Sandy quest). Did Nearly all of Windy & Jueno Quest
Got Blobdingnag & Yilbean Titles but did not rank up.
Starting on outlands quest next. damn I started as 6 trying to 7.
went from 430 -> 780 ROEs
titles 417 -> 630
ranked 3 nations to 10
finisherd ACP(all storyline complete now)
golden shovel + ygnas
craft to 0>110 with several subs 70
fame capped all regular and 2 abyssya
all homepoints/survival guide
finished almost windy/bastok quests prob about 10 left
monstrosity tiger lvl 83. about 15 new species unlocked
Still 6. I must be missing something obvious but at this point its comical.
Did you buy 1 piece of armor for each Nation rank1-10 (x3 nations = 30 titles in total)? Make sure you buy an actual armor, like head/body/hands/legs or feet. I'm not sure if every item in a given rank counts. Better safe than sorry.
Also, did you trade Kupipi a rolanberry? Even the quests that are not in your quest log count, too. I didn’t buy armor just snagged the first item on the list to obtain the titles. Is there any reason to get the armor over the others or your intent is just for the titles?

I'm a little concerned why you needed to kill 8 weapons in north tower when it should only need 4. Were you getting the same clear credit on your bar with every kill?
That's just on me. I omitted info I assumed wasn't relevant to type less at the time lol. Chain #3 to #8 was thos weapons. The 4 kills to start that chain was 4 kills on the previous floor. I don't remember what that even was at this point.
Either, the mobs were recently aggro'd by or claimed by someone with a higher Master Level than you, and the game though it resets their HP and level, still has them tagged as hit by an ML50.
This sounds pretty likely, although would the ML matter or would it be that someone set to 119 aggro'd them previously so I am randomly killing 119 equivalent in terms of EP gain. I suppose it would be easy enough to test. If I see it happen on a particular group of monsters I'll just stick around for fresh repops and keep killing them to see if I get it happens anymore.

If you're a multibox running (or even standing) around most places its incredibly obvious thats whats happening with or without FF. Oh you and 4 friends all need to trade sparks, buy something at the same AH counter, or walk into the MH at the exact same time and chose to do so using /follow? Not suspicious at all. The amount of obviously bannable things happening in every zone is immense.
If I were freed from ffxi permanently I'd be bummed but it wouldn't be a bad thing

Can also rep a SMN with a BRD and have a SMN/SAM melee for the SC Shattersoul/Oshala > Flaming Crush > Flaming Crush.

Experimenting with SMN based Exemplar Point party and I found this has worked very well doing my testing in Bibiki Bay.
SMNx3 GEO COR RDM
SMNs must have about 20s BP recast. Create Skillchain with Fenrir Eclipse Bite > Ramuh Volt Strike > Ifrit Flaming Crush. If mob is still alive RDM can burst finish.
GEO pulls with pretty much any thing. Geo-Frailty / Indi-Malaise.
COR does BST / COR rolls. That's it.
RDM Heal/Refresh/Magic Burst step 3.

I definitely know it's obvious. I'm also at the point in my FFXI career if someone wants me banned for having my ducks in a row then so be it. I can't fix that type of illness.
Anyway, the packet injection removal was a nice idea. I personally tried it but then no one wanted to cross the zoneline so I replaced the packet injection with a forward key press script execution. So far so good.

The gear isn't selling on Asura. Says everything about the Augment process IMO.
The gear is solid but the RP process needs to be thrown in the trash and revamped.
The gear isn't bad but it's a downgrade until you spent approx 60-70 hours on it? Spending 10 hours in limbus a week(doing hour clears, which might be overly optimistic).
I don't get it.

Edit: Did you do the Promyvion Memosphere / Anima-enhancing quests? I don't think those give titles, but rather you need to find an NPC Interaction that results in Fanfare music.
If you mean the turnins from the various ENM fights, I maybe turned in a couple for shits and giggles? I've done every ENM at least once but obviously inventory-1 for rewards so usually dropped. If you meant the map mini-quests, yes I have every map KI in the game.
Random one I just thought of - have you unlocked/killed the Stage 4 Ixion NM in MMM voucher 09?
Yes, in the process of the (so far) 500 mazes, I have done every maze type and gotten every rune and customization, including using the member's card to fight and kill every boss up to and including the ixion. It's actually the one I grind the mazes on now too so my kill count on it is probably around 200 or so.
Where is medal of altana located in the menus? Temp key items?
Gotta grind out a bunch of new temp or perma key items you don't have and see if you can make up for those medal points

I did it before I left, and the only painful ones to get are probably the level 30 jse for each race. Gotta camp the AH. And maybe nq austere a pain if you're not that craft

(I'd laugh if things like the moon pass were worth a ton of points, ha. No one gets it anymore for non-completion purposes)
I have every permanent KI in the game that's available and non-exclusive except for like two orchestrion rolls (which I do try for on tablets every now and then when I can). I do have an absurd amount of temporary ones as well, and every single boss/pop trigger for things like abyssea/geas fete/etc. Most of the armor ones but didn't feel like redoing the AF quests extra times heh.
Was extremely discerning 100 completions, or was it an arbitrary requirement like some have hinted?

It's exactly 100 completions, that simple. I took a screenshot of every NPC and have exactly 100 of them, and I made sure not to do every race and face just so I could prove those weren't needed.
I think those KIs are only purchasable during their active mission/quest, and Arciela's is missable as well. Magian might be depending on levels? I have all four of those, but the tentacle ticket was limited time event only. That and the sheet of shadow lord tunes are the only likely 100% unavailable permanent KIs.
There's also a few orch rolls that were only old bonanza prizes that never came back again, but maybe some day they'll be added to the login points or something.

Maybe like many, I've only just started doing Limbus consistently this week. Have the 100k carryover in both zones... what floors do people recommend XPing on to cap units after opening chests? For reference I'm probably going to be soloing it just with trusts.

If you run your chest farms at L135 you will typically end up over 50,000 units per week. Some weeks I get 0 from the final chest. When the highest level was 130 it usually left me about 6k short and required about an hour of additional farming to hit 50k. I'm glad those days are over!

Do enspells (e.g., applied by a RDM/SCH using Accession) overwrite the effect of Impetus on a MNK? Anything else that overwrites Impetus, aside from the one noted example on BG of Orcish Counterstance via Diffusion? I tested this just now, and Impetus and Enspells can coexist. No overwrite and you can have both up at once.

Hello Fellow Forumers! I haven't played in a good while and a coworker of mine was interested in loading up and playing the story of XI while we are in a down period in XIV.
I used to load up my old PC and play just fine but recently I got a new PC and laptop and decided to do a fresh install.
However when I downloaded the game off playonline I got corrupted files and the launcher was missing a lot of text. I tried to load the old installer I had on a USB but even that tried to connect to a server that was no longer active.
I was also curious if it was possibly worth downloading the game onto a USB to kinda "future proof" getting new systems later or taking it on the go when I travel. I'd assume USBs are fast enough to manage this game now at least.
Would anyone happen to know the best place to redownload the game without corrupted files/if the USB idea is a good idea or not?
Just figured I'd get an opinion here before I went and did it lol
