I was gonna say have a real fun time and write it in C, but COBOL would be even better

It will not be python or lua!

I plan to have it hosted on a dedicated web page to use. With an optional lua (future development) that will parse your items and let you choose to use the full item catalog or only the items on your character.

Need to write it in Cobol or Turbo Pascal

Sapphires and starstones. Hypothetically useful, in practice there's not much point in them as a prize since you have to just go do the content you'd have gotten them from anyway to use them. Basically just like omen cards except they're worth 3k to an NPC.

Naturally, they'll be part of the loud thud pool.

I don't have much to add, but I wish you luck with the development.

For hosting, costs don’t have to be high, plenty of solid VPS providers offer plans in the $5–9 range. The trade-off is handling setup and maintenance yourself, but it’s a good learning opportunity if you’re up for it.

From what you’ve described, this sounds like a straightforward full-stack app. Especially if you containerize it.

Hey if it is that low, would be amaze! Got me excited about that. :D

It could be as simple as feeding earrings you don't want to a goblin for points.

Or excess upgrade rocks. Aside from Mesos, most groups doing Sortie on the regular are going to have way more of everything else than they will ever be able to use.

The goal is not to let players hurry up and get perfect earrings, it's to have some kind of path to do so as a nice side bonus for the people putting in the time in the muffin mines.
By Seun on 2025-11-05 16:14:26
Cases will always be lottery. I don't really care about earrings personally, my motivation for SOrtie was always the armor. That said, it would have been nice if the earrings worked on an RP system where you could upgrade the augment. The problem is that they would probably force you to play that job in Sortie and ruin your meta galli farm comp. The alternative would be to force you to spend galli for the upgrades and people already cry about splitting time between armor and primes...

Check file permissions for the FFXI install directory. Try to force take ownership for yourself and admin. It could be failing to write to disk. Maybe FFXI loads macros from disk each time you zone

I say that but it doesn't match my experience. Usually if I //terminate instead of /shutdown then my macro changes don't save.

Once you have ML50 all jobs, the game knows there's nothing else to do or cast on, so it deletes macros.
You've beaten the game.

Haha, Good one...you can sit next to me at the dinner table tonight. :P

(This is an alt, but I do appreciate your sense of humor)

Yeah I should’ve specified if anyone has been able to get a DM augment beyond 4% on Colada.

Capitalism is like PUGB or King of the Hill. Kill people, take their loot, upgrade your weapons to kill better and die with the most loot. Except that this only applies to the winner. The rest of the people would die early and go watch YouTube or something. You get paid to show up to make somebody get a lot of loot.

Socialism is like team work. You are as fast the dead last in your team. So every team is dead last. The Russian realized that if you give a good team leader a gun, he will shoot the laziest guy in the team and ended up with a VERY motivated team afterwards. For a while. Until they get new blood. Then the commissar is back!

After playing boss with a small business for a while. I realized the holy truth of the average worker. Essentially, only about a handful of people are getting the good pay and promotion simply because they can do the work of 2-3 people and always seem to be available for everything you need. Everyone else are expendable. If you aren't the memorable superstar, you are another cog in the machine and you can get replaced very quickly.

I doubt they would think this through enough to pull it off, but a ??? Case +2 that pops the earring for job you're on currently would be so much better. Add it to the trove ITG pool so that it's so incredibly rare to begin with, but at least you take the randomness out of it by forcing the job.

i bet itg loud thuds have old case +1, too. calling it now.

Why limit it to just the case? Just bloat the pool with base +1/+2 earrings, no augments. That's 44 "new" items right there and keeps you going to sortie to get the actually good, augmented earrings

people would likely pay capped gil for a perfect +2 of the job they want, what's your point?

I saw a scrub idling in a perfect +2 earring for one of my favorite jobs. He was successful in making me salty, even though I normally don't /check people (he was a party member). The random reward system is one of the most disappointing things in this game.

Got a RL friend of mine who has a +2 DRG earring. Min roll, but I only have a mid roll+1. I say it doesn't bother me, but in the back of my head I am jealous because I want a +2 for my favourite class. And at the time he didn't even have it unlocked!
One day in the future, you'll get a +2 DRG earring with a very mid roll and be thrilled about it. Then three out of your next four +2 earrings will also be DRG and have worse augments than the first +2 you got.

This prophecy has happened before and will happen again.

And on that day I will still be happy, since AFAIK I have no reason to want a COR one, PLD will be a fun one to have, and WAR will be when I'm meta-slaving away.

Well you have to use the case(binding the earring to your character in the process) to see what it is. It's not like you could actually sell a perfect earring to someone, so I'm not actually sure what your point is.

My point was essentially that a +1 case isn't a reward.

Wondering how Lugra Earring +1 with full +16 wsc mods stacks up against TP Bonus Moonshade.

Or if there are any substitutions that are at parity with ye olde supreme WS earring.

Thrud/Moonshade is probably your standard pairing. @3000 effective TP, swap Moonshade for R15 Lugra +1. I'm sure there's a condition where Thrud/Lugra +1 is better pre eff 3000TP, but TP Bonus +250 is so good in general, and the two options seem so close that I don't think it's a huge difference in either case. It would also vary a lot on a variety of factors (Savagery/Crystal Blessing/Attack Cap/Accuracy needs/Nighttime/Unity Bonus etc). Seems overly complicated for a few points of non-guaranteed, ultra situational potential DPS

Mostly wondering for Fimbulvetr with Utu Grip.

Grip makes it a 60% STR 10% DEX 60% VIT WS from how I understand stuff like Utu/Crep knife/Flametongue.

Well the point of ITG is to reward players with desirable items. I'm not sure a consumable that rewards ~5k gil 99% of the time belongs here. +2 maybe.

The JP community gets the extra bonus.
